You'd make a great host, hummy.
And sadrain, I think you would make a great host too, if you just had confidence in yourself!

I think that's the best idea, is to team up [yes] Which Wyrmskyld has already mentioned. I'm still on the fence if I want to host an actual Sticky. If I do, I'll probably pair up with someone. If I don't, I'll still do a thread and participate in the planning / fundraising / etc~

Steel is right too! Keep a positive outlook on things. We'll get the theme, threads and games all squared away. And once rules are set for stickys and we get a clearer outline of the event, hosting a thread won't be too difficult. You'll have all of the other hosters as support!

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:21 AM

Well, I just know Fortune telling isn't my kind of thing, since I take that at least semi-seriously and wouldn't just suck things out of my thumb, unless it was Mene+event related fortune things. :)

---------- Post added 01-13-2014 at 03:23 AM ----------

And, yeah, I'm not against pairing up or anything, was just debating about kind of sticky I'd like to run if any. :)
I could do Mafia or something, too, generally what I normally don't take part in, so I don't feel like I can't take part n something super-fun for my self! [lol]

ObviouslyAya 01-13-2014 01:26 AM

I still haven't focused on games a lot. Waiting until after the theme is decided [insane]

This thread is shaping up very nicely IMO. So excited!!

I'm kinda of selfish (> w>) I know I'm organized and could run a thread by the Mene rules for
sticky threads during a User-Run Event. I just am very set on doing things my way at times.

I'm debating between the complete freedom of doing whatever I want, however I want, if I
have my own non-sticky thread. Verses finding someone I'm compatible with to do a sticky [lol]

steelmagghia 01-13-2014 01:28 AM

I think no matter what, you'll find something you're interested in. My boyfriend does tarot readings, and I'm not sure that it would be all that easy to do fortune telling for real on Mene. Just too many people and too impersonal of a forum. But that's just my opinion.
However, I think we'll find a place for you to fit, no matter what. It's just hard to tell where exactly until we know what theme we're doing. If we're going to do a space alien theme, it wouldn't matter whether you were feeling up to a fortune telling thread as it wouldn't work at all with that theme. :)

Lol, Aya. I would do a sticky with you, if it was something I was interested in. I think I could get along with you alright. I'm good at compromising. But I wouldn't be a good host unless I was interested in the thread type. I'd be awful at a grid game, for example.

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:31 AM

I know a person who did small readings through Internet and even had a 'practice' thread. I think she did great. Was pretty accurate, too, for the birthday one she did for me, if I recall.

I'm personally... so picky about some things. Like, I'd grammar Nazi all stickies 10 times until they were perfect in that sense and make them super organized and neat, if I could. [gonk]

And, hey, Space-gypsy who has computer calculate your fortunes could totally work as Fortune Teller for alien theme. [lol]

I thought you'd indicated being interested in fortunetelling, sad... It's cool if you don't want to. :) I was just skimming through everything and saw you mention a fortunetelling booth, so my tired brain assumed you wanted to host one!

Figure I'll apologize kind of in advance here... I'm going to be kind of slow for a few days. I got attacked by an awful toothache yesterday, and I don't know when I can get an appointment to have it pulled. The ache alone isn't so bad, it's the fact that it keeps me from sleeping that makes me just stare blankly at the computer screen half the time when I'm trying to read something. I'll get it sorted ASAP, though, and until then, if there's anything you really think I should see, PM or ping me and I'll devote special attention to comprehending it. [hug]

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:36 AM

I know what conversation you meant, but I thought we were discussing my avatar! [lol]
Well, I posted some thoughts about me + hosting above, when you feel better, you can read them and see it's alright.
I'm very sorry about the toothache, I hope it gets better soon/you can have an appointment soon.

ObviouslyAya 01-13-2014 01:38 AM

Thanks Steel [hug] I think we could get along too!

I've never taken part in a lot of the games they usually have at events. I don't even know a lot about them LOL. I don't have the interest or patience to play progressive games. I don't really like team games, or point games. That's not to say I wouldn't like hosting one, I just don't like to play them [lol]

sadrain: I'd be the same way! [mrmayor] Spell check crazy, consistent post form. I don't think it's a bad thing. The better polished our event is, in all aspects, the more it will appeal to users!

Haha, well, it is good to know when to quit. Sometimes you have to let a typo or wording issue slide for the sake of time. I challenge you to work fortune telling into the science fair theme. Cause if you can do that, you win a gold star!

Oh jeez, hon. Toothaches are the worst. I think we'll all forgive you for being less than active until you can get it taken care of.

Honestly, I blame the dentist for this. I went on Tuesday, and he was all

Doc:*poke poke* Does this tooth hurt?
Wyrm: "No... it's a little sensitive sometimes, but only for a few minutes at a time."
Doc: Oh, because it looks like it should hurt. I'll write you a referral to get it pulled.
Obviously either my tooth listens to its doctor, or it's trying to get revenge before it's pulled... or both. [illgetu]

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:42 AM

Science fair? Hm, depends how sciency we're talking about! If it's actual working science, why not someone crafted a machine with which you can 'dive' into your future like scubadiving and see one particular event of your future, a random one (that would be Mene fantasy only). OR, a car that 'rides' through future, sooo fast you only get a whisk of what's to come, like happiness then, sadness there, GREEN COLOR WILL BE YOUR BANE NEXT YEAR.

---------- Post added 01-13-2014 at 03:43 AM ----------

And if it's more of joke-y science fair gone wrong, it can be a prank machine that bonks you on head and then claims that whatever crazy faint thing you saw is your fortune told.

ObviouslyAya 01-13-2014 01:43 AM

That's actually a neat idea, sadrain! You could make it work *nudge nudge* (^ w^)

I like to play most of the games. I just know how much craziness some of them are behind the scenes. The grid games in particular practically require an entire Excel booklet just to keep track of, and I have NO desire to run through 500 posts a night to track people's choices and then log them. No thank you. Dice games aren't quite so bad. You still have to run through the threads, but you only have to add, rather than run through choices.
Really, I prefer avatar/cooking/art contests, guessing games, and a few others that work for specific themes only. Something a little more personable and that generates more conversation.

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:45 AM

Do I get a gold star? [boogie]

And, it's kind of true, but since I usually have notepad out and ready for keeping tracks of points for myself/some opponents in some games, it couldn't be THAT bad, especially with co-host... We could take turns/days when to do the updating.

I vote for the tooth listening to the dentist.

Oh my gosh! If we did the science fair theme? We could totally award gold stars to highly active participants! Something they could put in siggies or profiles! EEE!

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:48 AM

[lol] ... It's actually because I'm really competitive and to wait until hosts updates and wonder if I scored well or not... [gonk] And for smaller games, like guess the number, or match the squares game, it's important so you actually don't keep guessing same thing over and over.

---------- Post added 01-13-2014 at 03:49 AM ----------

And yeah, that's totally awesome idea!
It could be adjusted to nearly all themes, too, like deep sea could have seashells!

MiriuOniaya 01-13-2014 01:54 AM

I'm definitely interested to see what games people come up with! I'll have to
brainstorm more on ideas *prods pool of creative thinking juice* Get moving [illgetu]

Huzzah! I'm trying to put at least half of every amount of gold I get
into my Mule account, so it can build up [insane] I feel productive!

Yessss! SO AWESOME! And such a good way to get people involved. Everyone loves little extras!

I'm trying not to think too hard, because I get specific and then I get attached. Yay for awesome gold earning!

sadrain 01-13-2014 01:57 AM

Well, I think it's better to figure out game outlines early. Since most of them can be attached to nearly any theme.

They could be photoshopped/maniped little images that generally are the same, except the username and perhaps title changes that we could hand out.

hummy 01-13-2014 01:58 AM

don't forget to play games each day
