Steve shrugged. "Restless," he said. "I felt like walking, and I almost always stop by here and get some pie when I'm in the area."
"Fun," Kate said. "I guess it's a good thing you decided to stop in for some pie."
Steve chuckled. "Yeah," he agreed. "It's also pretty predictable at this point, but that's okay. I don't mind."
Kate grinned.
"Well, I'm here because Ivy ended up just bringing her date home to make dinner," she said. "So I left before they got there." |
"Ah, okay," Steve said. "Probably a good idea, for the first few dates." He grinned. "Hopefully she'll let you know when it's safe to go back."
"Most likely," Kate said. "But for now, sitting here is just fine." She grinned as well. "I mean, I got to run into you here, after all."
Steve chuckled and nodded. "Things could have been worse," he agreed with a little grin.
"Definitely," Kate replied. She took a sip of her hot chocolate and made a face when she found it cold. She quickly drank the rest of it and put the cup down.
Steve grinned a bit and motioned the waitress over to refill his coffee and get her another hot chocolate.
"You want any pie?" he asked Kate. |
Kate smiled a bit.
"Sure," she said, nodding. "Pie sounds good." |
Steve ordered two slices of pie for them, mostly because he could actually eat a whole pie if he wanted to.
Kate smiled and settled in to wait for the pie. Absently, she curled one of her wings forward and ran her fingers through the feathers.
