Natasha nodded. "If she hasn't caused problems yet, I doubt she will," she reasoned, settling in next to Athena. "Besides, Steve will probably be excited. He likes meeting other cats." Natasha rolled her eyes. Silly lion.
Zee chuckled. "So you do learn despite your young age," he teased. Sometimes it was just too easy. |
"I'm not as worried about Steve," Athena admitted. Steve was remarkably social most of the time. "But I know you tend to like a bit more space."
Tony just rolled his eyes and downed the rest of his coffee. "So?" he asked, looking at Zee expectantly. |
Natasha shrugged. "If I decide I don't like her, there is ample room for me to stay away from her," she said. She had mellowed out some since she'd arrived.
"You seem to be doing fine so far," Zee said. "So long as you don't overstretch." |
"Alright," Athena replied. "Speak up if something bothers you." She stretched a bit. "I think it's Clint's turn to help with dinner tonight, isn't it?"
"It's not like it's crowded here yet," Tony pointed out. |
"Yeah." Natasha smiled lazily and stretched a bit. "He hasn't started yet."
"No, not yet, but not all weres get along," Zee pointed out. "So far you're lucky, but the more you bring in, the higher the chance that they won't get along, or they'll have dominance fights." He briefly made a face. "Especially wolves." |
"I'm so less than surprised," Athena said, grinning a bit. "Bruce will get on him about it soon."
"Yeah I heard you were having issues with wolves," Tony commented. "How's that working out?" |
Natasha snorted. "Or you could," she said, amused. "He's right up there." She nodded to up in the rafters between the rooms.
Zee shrugged. "They're still annoyances," he said. "But they're not so bad. At least not the ones in the area." |
"I'm too lazy," Athena replied. "I just hit this couch, I'm not getting up for a while." She grinned a bit.
"Really?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow. They're not all..." He used his hands to make a sort of claw/fang gesture. "... paranoid after that thing I heard about not too long ago?" |
Natasha snickered and lazed there. She was literally a cat, she could lounge as much as she damn well wanted to.
Zee raised an eyebrow. "That would depend on what thing it is you are referring to." |
Athena totally didn't mind sharing space with Natasha; the woman was surprisingly cuddly when she wanted to be, and Athena didn't mind being a snuggle-buddy.
"The--" Tony waved his hands for emphasis, "--thing. Word travels fast. I heard your part of the country's been interesting lately." |
Natasha did listen with amusement as Bruce started to herd Clint towards the kitchen. But she didn't go help.
"Ah." Zee shrugged. "Things have been interesting. I haven't noticed a difference in the wolves I see, but that doesn't mean much. I don't interact with them much." |
"See? Called it," Athena said, grinning.
"No, but your girl does," Tony said. "What's-her-name, Charity? Patience? Some virtue." |
Natasha just snickered.
"Mercy," Zee said. "And her pack is somewhat paranoid." He shrugged. "It doesn't effect me at the moment." |
"Paranoid on the normal scale, or paranoid on the They're Really Out To Get You scale?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow. He already had a pretty good idea, though, if Zee was calling them paranoid. He usually didn't use those kinds of words.
|
"Most of them? Normal paranoid. Her mate? They're all out to get her and he won't allow that." Zee rolled his eyes. He knew that Mercy wasn't on the same level as a lot of the supernatural things, but he also knew that she didn't need to be wrapped in a plastic bubble.
|
"Fun," Tony replied. "Should be interesting to see how that plays itself out."
|
Zee nodded. "I may tell one or two of them about this place," he said, watching Tony. "There's one in particular I think should see this place. Or Mercy thinks so, anyway."
|
Tony shrugged.
"Go for it," he said. "We've got the space, and everyone's pretty mellow so far." |
Zee nodded and watched Chloe start to explore cautiously, her body language still stiff and reserved. She went the opposite direction of them after a brief look.
|
Tony just let her go. He knew how skittish new arrivals could be.
Athena looked over when she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. "Bruce all done with you?" she asked as Chloe went by. |
Chloe nodded. "Yeah, he got what he needed." She looked in on them for a few moments.
Natasha lifted her head and beckoned the other were in to get used to them, still relaxed. Chloe waited another moment before she moved into the room slowly. |
"Great," Athena said. She moved a bit more to make room. "You're welcome to join us, if you like."
|
Chloe shook her head a bit, although she did pace the room once and then settle in a chair. Natasha nodded faintly, signaling it wasn't someone's special chair, and Chloe relaxed slowly.
|
Athena let the two interact, not interrupting. She knew better; they had to get used to being around one another. She was just glad Steve wasn't around at the moment, so Chloe didn't have to get used to both instead of just Natasha.
|
Slowly Chloe settled in. She'd always been around other weres, after all, but this was the first time there weren't any rules that she knew of, no pre-determined hierarchy. So she was glad for the time to adjust.
