"Guess so." Kerry settled in. "Is there also post-battle movie night or do you all go off and do your own thing after dinner?"
"Depends on how rough the day was," Clint said. "Four times out of five, we all veg out on the couches and watch movies."
Kerry nodded. "Sounds like fun," she said. "And relaxing, that too, that's always a good thing." She stretched out a bit.
"No kidding," Clint said. He moved from the arm of the couch onto the couch proper and stretched out some.
Kerry grinned a bit at that and couldn't resist poking his arm.
"So, when I get Tony to make me a bow I can actually use, you going to show me how or just let me flounder through it?" |
Clint snorted.
"Hey, easy on the goods," he said, nudging her hand. "If you want to learn, sure, I'll teach you." |
"Oh, right, because one poke from an agent is going to put you out of commission," Kerry said, rolling her eyes at him. "I could probably punch you in the arm and you wouldn't notice."
"I'll have you know I bruise like a peach," Clint said with a mock pout. "I'm a fragile blossom."
"Compared to Thor, maybe," Kerry said with a snort. "Smart ass." But she was grinning as she settled in next to him, poking him again for good measure.
Clint snickered a bit and settled in, grabbing some food.
Avery was still elsewhere, attempting to lance the blisters that had formed around two of the runes on her ribs. She wasn't getting all that far with it yet. |
Loki, of all people, was the one to knock on the bathroom door. He knew who was in there, and he knew she'd likely need some help. He let slip a little of his magic so she'd know he was there.
Avery froze when she felt the little nudge of magic. Oh yes, she knew who that was. She couldn't very well ignore him, though.
"It's open," she called. |
Loki let himself in and looked at her. "Need any help with those?" he asked, making a motion to her ribs. Because of course he knew what she was and the runes she used.
"No, I think--" Avery couldn't hold back a sharp gasp as her hand slipped a bit and her nails scraped against the swollen, burned runes. "--maybe," she breathed.
Loki tutted and moved over, cooling his hand down. "This will hurt for a moment," he warned her before he touched his hand to her side, against the burns. The cool would help after the initial hurt, though.
Avery whimpered slightly at the pain, and then cautiously relaxed as it eased. She was hyper aware of his hand on her.
"Do not fret," Loki murmured. "I only wish to aid you." He cooled his hand a little more, making sure to cover the burns.
"Why?" Avery asked, watching him warily. "What's in it for you?" The chill from his hand made goosebumps raise on her skin where it wasn't covered.
Loki shrugged. "You understand magic," he said. "I am not likely to find any other allies here."
"You invaded the planet," Avery pointed out cautiously. She looked at him. "Does anyone else know you're not bound up as tight as you could be?"
"Not likely." Loki shrugged carelessly. "Odin certainly does not." For which he was rather grateful.
"And isn't that just terrifying," Avery muttered. She winced a bit as one of the burns throbbed.
"Hush," Loki scolded her, shifting to better cover that burn as well.
"What are you even doing?" Avery asked, trying to look down without bending much. "I've taken care of this myself before."
"I'm quite certain you have," Loki agreed, glancing at her. "But I am, admittedly, bored, and in a rather good mood. Besides, these are in difficult places to reach without causing yourself further injury."
