Dental Implants

So dental implants who's had some done ?

I've decided that I'm going to have some done rather than a denture, I might even have all of my teeth pulled and dental implants put it. Due to I'm going to be losing a second tooth that snapped in half after the removal of the wisdom tooth that I wasn't going to let go of.

Yeah, I was born without my adult eye teeth and so I have two implants on either side of my front teeth. Implants are good, if you can afford them. I got mine back in 2005 and they were $3000 per tooth, and (according to my parents) that didn't include the labor and the painkillers. (And that was also the prices in Florida, they might differ from where you are).

And since implants are considered cosmetic, your health insurance won't cover it. But as a means to dentures, yes, they are superior. And the caps never change colors, so you don't have to worry about them yellowing over time. (which might be a challenge if you don't get all your teeth implanted. Because again, they don't change colors, even if you try a whitening thing.)

But yeah, like I said, I've had mine for going on 9 years and I've never had a problem with them, and I would suggest them over dentures if you can pay for it ^_^

I also have a dental implant and I'm so happy I got it. My four front-most teeth have all had problems since I lost my baby teeth: broke the two in the middle, had a mini "peg" tooth on one side, and no tooth at all on the other. I ended up getting the implant along with crowns on the other three teeth so they would match. I was advised not to get veneers since they would fade over time and might end up not matching which is why I went with crowns.

Four years later, everything still looks just as good as when it was done. [:)] I'm so happy since it made a big difference in my confidence. I used to be shy about smiling but now I don't even think about it. Downside: even though some of it was covered through my parents' insurance, I think it ended up being quite expensive. They never told me the exact price tag, but it must have been multiple thousands of dollars. [sweat] But they knew I needed to get it done so it was a graduation present.

My dentist told me it'd be from about £2500, but the parents have said they'd pay for me to have it done if it came to that because they know how unhappy I am about the state of my teeth.
