While I art often, but I don't like using fancy art supplies I buy because they don't last forever, and I'd want to use them on something I wouldn't think looked terrible later. [sweat] Which will probably never happen.

That's pretty fair. It's usually those who are really good at it that do that. Great artists have the most doubts.
