I only drink FLAVORED milk. Or milk from Trader Joe's, since that milk doesn't make me feel ill sipping on it unflavored.

Milk should NOT taste like blood. Too much iron in it, I'd guess.

I'll drink chocolate milk. Or milk in my cereal.

It's mostly on cows and the odd goat you see milking demonstations on. You don't see someone bringing a yak in to show a group of kids how milking works.

Social acceptableness.

Cows = fine.
Goats = not too bad.
Other cloven hooved animals = keep it in the milking barn.

Cleopatra used to bath in donkey milk.

Oh it likely worked fairly well. The problem would be the vaginal infections it probably caused. Same with the Greeks using vinegar as spermicide.
