So Kaleb was cranky as hell this morning. He wouldn't get up and I almost made him go to school naked. After he finally woke up he told me his throat hurt. I'm like boy! if you'd get up I could help you feel better! DUH!!

Is he staying home? Otto was cranky earlier this week, so he's going to bed about 30 minutes earlier than usual. It is improving his mood - BUT - he is still acting like he's coming out of a coma every morning for a good 20 minutes followed by wanting to play. He was almost tardy today, so I walked him in while muttering loudly "faster!" constantly. My lad is a foot-dragger.

No I made him go anways. I told him he had to try because they don't have school Monday, so if he went today that means he gets to stay home and sleep on Monday. He sounds like Kaleb! It's like waking the dead huh? Hubby thinks maybe we should get him to bed earlier, you think 8:30? How old is Otto? Kaleb is six and this is his first time having to get up in the morning to be at school. And I know how that is, saying "Hurry! You are gonna be late!" and being flustered. xP

Otto will be 6 next month and he's in Kindergarten this year. He was going to bed at 8, but we're trying 7:30 now. I'm usually up at 5 and wake him around 6. We don't even have to leave the house until a little after 7 - but it takes him a bazillion years to just move his little butt! I have to leave fairly early to avoid the insanity at the car rider drop-off. Did your boys have a good day at school?

Ahh I get ya about the dropping off part. Why are other parents so crazy about dropping off their kids?!?!
I think they did, Jacob got pushed into something metal and has a huge bandage. Not sure what happened with that. Kaleb acted like he had a good day. He was just glad he gets to sleep in tomorrow. [lol] |
No incident report telling you about the bandage? I've been pretty happy about weird bruises I see on Otto - his teacher usually tells me what happened or he will. In excruciating detail!
Yeah, school. I have a love/hate thing going on about it right now. Okay, I realize the schools can be a bit hazardous. There was a shooting in our state at least a year ago, but still... they had an assembly yesterday with all of the kids to tell them what to do if "bad guys" enter the school. Their advice not only reminded me about the duck and cover crap they told us in the 70s (yes, I am THAT old), but made me think again about homeschooling him. It took a lot for me not to hyperventilate when he told me about the assembly. |

We had something like that during the Cold War era, but not as often as they did it in the 50s. I preferred the earthquake drills, which were similarly creepy since we were told to hide under our flimsy desks.

We hardly ever get earthquakes, but now we do one earthquake drill a year on a national day centered around them.

When we moved to California, I knew a little about earthquakes from what my parents told me. We had drills when we lived in the northern and southern parts of the state. Sometimes we get them in Georgia, but they aren't as severe. We do get some bad weather from hurricanes and the odd tornado. Otherwise it's pretty calm where we are now.

Schools can be scary. Our boys are going to do a "lock down" drill soon. I made sure to explain to them what it was, but that they will probably never be in a real situation. They just practice it just in case, like a fire or tornado. |
Tornadoes get close to us. Hurricane Sandy was so big we got a tiny piece of it.

I have been out of work for the last three days. It turns out that I have hypothyroidism and combined with Vitamin D deficiency and it is kicking my buns. |
I'm glad you have the weekend off to recharge. Hypothyroidism is, at least initially, a booger to manage. Pretty sure you are looking at the best course of action!!

It is. And combined with the wicked low vitamin D (my level is 18....the range for this lab for "normal" was 39-96) and the fact that I'm now getting a cold is really exhausting. And I have like 2 weeks worth of grading to do that I didn't even bring home. It will have to wait. But thank goodness my doctor is SUPER fast at calling in meds for me. I like this new doctor a lot.

I plan to catch a Hummy by her toe and ask for one. Which makes me sad because I'm about to buy an old CI I've been wanting from her. One day I'll get caught up. One day!
