Also, I am not good at training dogs at all, but I want one of the most strong willed breeds there is and I want it to bark and growl at people despite the fact that this will cause a problem for the dog. I plan to send it off to obedience training even though every worthwhile trainer in the world will tell you that you need to BE PRESENT during the training for it to be the least bit effective at home. Also I have a brand new baby and cats."

This is obviously not a word for word quote, but the gist (without the logical commentary) is there. Essentially, she's setting this hypothetical dog, her cats, and her baby all up for a disaster. I want to kick her in the face.

Gosh! I totally do agree with you - people can be so dumb when it comes to animals! I feel sorry for that poor dog (if she does get one), the cats and the baby!! D:

I know right? I just don't even know what she's THINKING! And arguing with her on facebook won't do any good at all. But I just want to smack some sense into her.

Sure we got a new dog a few months before I had Soph, but that's all working out - thankfully!!

Well I'm not saying that you can't have a dog and a baby. But a "guard dog" means generally that you want a dog who will attack strangers. That is a freaking terrible idea with a baby around. And a shepherd is not necessarily a good baby dog and definitely not generally a good cat dog.

I think it's partially this time of year. They just LOSE THEIR MINDS! F=MA people! It's a really easy equation! WHY ARE YOU DIVIDING THERE?!?! WHERE DID THAT NUMBER COME FROM?!?! IT SAYS ROUND TO THE NEAREST TENTH, AND YOU ROUNDED TO THE NEAREST HUNDRED. WHO DOES THAT?!?

You have no idea how many times I have to tell COLLEGE STUDENTS how to count significant figures. THERE ARE ONLY FOUR RULES. Four. YOU HAVE MORE FINGERS ON A SINGLE HAND THAN THERE ARE RULES!! [gonk]

If you wanted to make it a nice even five rules, then you should begin with
RULE ONE: "Just... just stop.. no. Just think about this for a second and don't write down whatever your brain kneejerks to"

Steel, it might sound like a mean thing to do, but I've started a "Book of Shame" for papers that are just unspeakably... wrong. I like to collect them to be able to point at the REALLY bad ones and understand that there are answers that were written down that are DEFINITELY not a reflection on what or how I taught my lectures.

Some students simply don't listen, and when it kinda hurts to give a bad grade to someone, you can witness the glory of stubborn human stupidity at it's finest. Besides, when you have the collection of horri-bad ones to look over, then the fairly bad ones don't seem so bad. Give them what they earned! [banhammer]

HAHAHAHHAHA. Oh god. I want to make a sign of that last rule there. Seriously. That's just wonderful right there.

Wow... I'm sorry but your friend is ignorant. For one, having no experience in dog training and the first animal you want to get is one who is strong willed will be challenging and she is setting herself up to fail. 2. this is why certain dog breeds are considered "evil" and the "worst dogs" and why cities are banning them altogether. Teaching a dog to do that is not only dangerous, but it will end in the dog getting euthanized and possible legal action/fees if your dog was to hurt someone. 3. Sending your dog off to obedience school is doing NOTHING.. At all. Zilcho. Your dog needs to know you are the master and you are in control, not someone else who will not be there at all.

I am SOOOO in agreement with you here. I tried to tell her literally EVERYTHING you just said here and she just didn't get it at all. I was so mad at her I was shaking. And there isn't a damn thing I could do about it.

Duuuude all this teacher talk has me laughing. I am customer support and I see stupidity at it's finest, every day. Unfortunately the pay and benefits suck though.

Also I have to try so hard to act so professional and friendly through it all but deep inside I'm just shaking my head and thinking how did this person actually dial the phone to get me...I mean seriously now. Can they read? :P
