Testing Seito!

As a lot of you are going to be fully aware, Seito is a queen of origami, I was rooting in my Tumblr archive and saw this, and immediately wanted to challenge her to make one, because [drool]

Then I looked further on the same site and saw this!!

Oh Seito: [brow] Think you could do either of these?

I wish I had the resources to buy lots of paper, because I'd love to try making pretty shapes with it! But sadly I don't have the funds. [cry]

Another other of you guys got mean paper-folding skills? =3

Lexadis 04-29-2014 09:19 PM

I've been doing origami since I was a kid, and I'm a little okay with folding papers XD But the problem is I can't remember any steps, I have to look at the book every single time I do [cry] I forget too easily, and I won't be able to make any unless they show me a tutorial [lol]

The first one.. it's awesome [insane] Get going Seito! [cheer]

I used to be able to make little birds, but I can't remember the steps >< I do still have the book those are in though =3

Oh those look fun! The first one isn't too hard. It's actually a cutting type one from the looks of it.

ooo the second one is modular. Modular is what I do :P

Remind me to take a picture of my desk at work. You should see what I do with all my post-its once I'm done with whatever I wrote on them. xD

I finished the second one. * u *

The first one requires some cutting and printing out that silly template ;P For another day at least.

I want to make that slinky!
[drool]

These look so cool~!

jellysundae 04-30-2014 04:31 PM

Yay! THE SLINKY LIVES!

I wonder if that folding technique could be used for something like a wreath or similar. [ninja] Would it need some help to stay round?

Seito 05-01-2014 04:52 AM

Depends on how you design it I think and how big and how you plan on hanging it. In general the pieces stay together pretty well (I can hold one end of the slinky and shake it like a spring and it holds together). I am using a thicker paper though instead of normal origami. (The paper I used was my colored paper for my 3d origami projects which range in weight from normal computer paper to easily 48lb depending on the color). No glue required to keep the rings together. ;3

If you want a perfect circle shape you're probably going to need some wire to attach the origami rings to. Especially if you're going to hang it up on the wall otherwise I imagine the weight and gravity won't keep it in its circular shape. You're also going to need tons to weave together. The slinky is suppose to use 20-40 pieces (I think?). I made mines with only 12 though.

I love both of these and I've never seen them before in my life... ever... how cool!

Seito 05-13-2014 05:39 AM
