Sim got down the honey as well as some sugar for herself. She tested the coffee briefly, found it still fresh, and poured a mug for Tony because she knew that's who it was going to.
Bucky settled an arm around her and kept her close, just relaxing and breathing in her scent. She was starting to smell a little like him and Steve, like a bonded trio, and he liked that very much. |
Bruce couldn't help but notice that and approve. Clearly, she already had an idea of how to look after Tony.
Ella rested her head on his shoulder with a soft sigh. It felt good just being settled in there with him, and she hoped Steve would be able to join them soon. |
Sim settled back to wait for the tea, already relaxing a bit. With the tea and the coffee smells both still in the kitchen, she couldn't smell Bruce as much, but his smell was still there, and just as nice as ever. Which probably should freak her out but she hadn't yet.
Bucky looked over when Steve joined them in the living room, clearly fresh from a shower, and sat down on Ella's other side with a contented little hum. |
Once the tea was made, Bruce handed Sim a cup of it and then added a bit of honey to his own. He could still smell her, even over the tea and coffee fumes, and that pleased him.
Ella immediately made room for Steve, cuddling and scenting him briefly before settling in. Now everything was right. |
Sim added a bit of sugar to her tea and then looked at the coffee cup. "Will he come up for it on his own or should someone take it over?"
Steve relaxed as well, resting his head briefly on hers and noticing the same thing Bucky had. That made him very pleased, and he smiled as he settled in with his two. |
"Give him a few minutes," Bruce advised. "If he doesn't come up soon, take it to him." He knew that if Tony wasn't upstairs in a few minutes, then he likely wouldn't be for several hours. It was a fairly safe assumption.
Ella snuggled in with them both quite contently. "You know, I noticed something," she said softly to them. "You're both starting to smell a bit like me." |
"Alright." Sim sat on the counter to wait for a few minutes, blowing on her tea to cool it off enough to drink without scalding herself. "Seems like you're pretty much the responsible party here."
"Mmm, we noticed too," Bucky said with a little grin. "It happens over time," Steve said. "Eventually we'll all smell like each other all the time." He smiled a bit to himself. |
"Sometimes Tony needs someone to look after him," Bruce replied. "Subtly."
"I like it," Ella replied, nuzzling them both. She took a moment to scent them again. "You've always smelled like each other, since I've known you, but now there's a bit of me in there too." |
Sim chuckled. "Subtly, huh? With him, I would have figured a sledgehammer would be more efficient."
Bucky grinned and managed to move closer to them both somehow. Steve just snorted at Bucky and rested there, making sure he was touching both of them. |
"You'd think so," Bruce said, grinning a bit. "But no. Subtle is best. Otherwise, Tony rebels and isolates himself, which makes it that much harder to make sure he eats and sleeps."
|
"Ah he's one of those kinds." Sim shook her head sympathetically. "I pity you and am suitably impressed that you're so calm about all this."
|
"I have Pepper on speed-dial," Bruce admitted. "It helps quite a bit sometimes." And at this point, he knew how Tony was. All he could do was accept it and work around it.
|
That made her snicker, and she grinned. "I think I'd like to meet her some day, I've heard some things about Miss Potts. Mainly that she was the only PA he had to keep her job, and that she can actually boss him around."
|
"I'm sure you will," Bruce said. He glanced at the time and stood up. "It's probably best to check on Tony and bring him his coffee. He probably lost track of time."
|
"Right." Sim gathered up the coffee easily and motioned for Bruce to lead the way. "Let's go, then."
|
Bruce nodded and headed downstairs. Inwardly, he was pleased that Sim was coming with him to check on Tony, and he got the feeling that it would please Tony, too, even if the Alpha didn't want to admit it.
|
Sim looked around as they headed down, taking everything in and absent-mindedly keeping close to Bruce. There were a lot of weird smells down in the labs and he smelled safe and familiar. Which she would examine more thoroughly later.
|
Bruce was aware of her staying close to him, and he had to admit that he liked it. Something about the fact that she was okay with being close to him was pleasing. Once they got down to the workshop, he put in his passcode and opened the glass door.
"Tony?" he asked. "Time to take a quick break." "Not now, Brucie, working," Tony replied around the screwdriver held between his teeth. |
"Coffee won't stay hot forever," Sim piped up. "Or fresh, and I'm sure you'd drink three day old swill but this is good coffee."
|
"Working," Tony muttered again, leaning in closer to the thing he was working on. It looked like beginnings (or remains, sometimes Bruce wasn't sure which) of a new arrow for Clint.
|
Sim snorted quietly and put the coffee down on the table, out of his way but close enough that within seconds he would be getting a full whiff of fresh brewed coffee.
|
And Tony did indeed notice the coffee. He barely paused as he reached over for the coffee mug and took a gulp of the coffee. That really made him pause for a moment.
"Good stuff," he commented, taking another drink and setting it down again. |
"Of course it is," Sim said with a dignified sniff. "So what are you working on? And since when do arrows have wires and things running through them?"
|
"Since Barton decided he wanted heat-seeking arrows," Tony grumbled as he fiddled with a few wires.
|
"Heat-seeking? Arrows don't really work that way, they don't have any other source of propulsion so they can't change direction or anything, so heat-seeking makes no sense," Sim said frankly. "If he wants heat-seeking, fiddle with his sunglasses."
