The jacket looked like metal, reflecting the light and everything just like tin.
"Oh I'm sorry!" She said, realizing she'd changed the colour. Ciara giggled, "I don't think he noticed but could you change his jacket back to the right colour please, Susan?" |
"Hm?" Horatio cocked his head to the side, "What's wrong with my jacket?" he demanded.
"Susan can change the colour of objects by the touch of her hand." Ceres explained.
"It's pretty cool though, your jacket looks like it's made out of metal. I think that's the best change you've done yet, little lady." Susan blushed, "Could I have your hand again, Mr. Time Reaper?" She asked politely. |
Suddenly Horatio appeared by the door, "Actually, I kind of like it." he might have frozen time to check himself out in the hallway mirror. "Now, if you do not mind, I am going for a walk. Ciara McCoy, would you care to join me?"
"Oh...ok." Susan said.
Ciara looked at the clock, "Sure, if you don't mind me eatting my orange and walking. Though it'll have to be a short one. I do have school after all." She said heading over to him. "Bye, Mr. Time Reaper." Susan said before turning to get some breakfast. |
Horatio waved at the room, hoping it was in Susan's general direction which it... sort of was. "I can promise you will not be late for school" he told Ciara with a slight smirk.
"I'm sure that won't be a problem for you." Ciara replied, a smile on her face.
He held out his hand for her to take.
"I'll see you later." Ciara waved.
"Have fun." Celeste waved back. Ciara took Horatio's hand. |
Horatio's hand was warm and welcoming and once he had a good hold of her his silver eyes flared gold and the colour of the world drained away from them. His new eyes took a second to focus on her and he smiled, "My apologies for my silence thus far. I hope I can make it up to you"
Ciara looked around in awe, "Wow..." She blinked and looked back at him, "Oh, that's ok. I'm just glad you're out and about." She smiled warmly back at him. He had nice hands.
"Well then. Hello" he greeted, "it's nice to properly meet you, Ciara McCoy."
"It's nice to properly meet you too, Time Reaper." She said in response, giving a little bow of the head.
He nodded to her in return and then they headed outside. It was a peculiar and magical, black and white world that awaited them. Leaves frozen in the unmoving wind, the lawn sprinklers had frozen arches of water coming from them and people were completely paused in their morning activities.
Ciara ran a little ahead of Horatio, looking at everything close up. "Fascinating..." She kept mumbling, apparently some of Big Blue's catch phases had rubbed off on her.
"This is incredible!" She yelled, spinning around in a circle. |
Horatio smiled as he watched her and walked alongside. He held out his hand to displace the water droplets of the sprinklers. The light itself that shone in them moved with it, unable to change.
"Wooah." Ciara got low to the ground and started poking the water droplets, giggling like a child. "This is fun."
Horatio hung back and watched her with a soft smile on his lips. She was beautiful, and her fascination with the world around them was always a joy to watch. It warmed his heart.
She couldn't stop looking at things but at the same time she could feel his eyes watching her.
Finally she looked up, "Sooooo... You feeling better?" She asked playing with a water droplet. |
"Much" he replied, "Would you mind showing me around the place? I'm afraid it took me some time to locate the kitchen this morning. I ended up somewhere that smelled like oil and echoed terribly. I didn't dare venture into it."
Ciara nodded, "Sure thing, I suppose we never got around to doing that." She got up and started heading back toward the house. "Though Charles has ordered some Braille Signs for around the mansion but they haven't come in yet. It can get pretty confusing and maze like even with your eye sight."
"That's encouraging" Horatio quipped as he followed her. Of course, by now, he knew the layout of the mansion backwards and forwards, but he really just wanted to spend some time with her.
Ciara led him around the mansion and around the frozen children getting ready for school. He might have known where all the rooms are but Ciara was adding info like, The guys tended to hang out and watch movies in the lounge on weekend nights, Stay clear of the kitchen on Sundays between meals as Kitty liked to attempt to cook, etc.
"Big Blue was actually wondering if you'd like if he picked up some braille books for you. He's going down to Washington in the next couple of weeks and there's a bookstore that sells them." She asked as she showed him the library/study. |
"I certainly wouldn't mind some reading material" Horatio nodded, running his hands along a row of books. He new how to read but he didn't use the ability often. He tended to use symbols, pictures, that sort of thing when he was making notes for himself. Which was probably why the mural in his room didn't make much sense to anyone else. "How has school been?" he asked, "I never really went to one before. well... nothing conventional anyway..." He didn't really think the Time Academy counted.
"It's going alright. I had to take an elective and the only open one for Grade 9 was Art..." Her face was grim, "Even Picasso's portraits look better than my drawings. I'm really good at mixing colours though and I'm top of the class for the Art history part." x.x
