Jess gave him a bit of a Look. "I do remember that," she said mildly. "We were old enough to have seen before we left."
"Just making sure," the Doctor replied. "There have been others who wanted to try."
"Well, yeah, not surprised. But I just want to look." Jess shrugged. "Still much better than most people get to do."
The Doctor nodded.
"Once Jack and your friend are back, we can decide where to go next," he said. |
"No problem. I don't mind waiting." Jess smiled a bit. "Not like I haven't got time now."
"Yes indeed," the Doctor said, nodding. "Hopefully you're not nine regenerations in like I am, you've got more time to explore."
"Nine?" Jess blinked, surprised. "You certainly don't look like you've had that many regenerations."
"Nine," the Doctor confirmed. "Though I've still got a few more left in me. Hopefully I won't need them for a good long while."
"Hope not," Jess agreed, starting to investigate the control room more thoroughly now but not touching the controls. "This is different from what I remember. The only Tardis I saw the inside of looked different."
"Ah, well, they do change over time," the Doctor said. He shrugged a bit. "She doesn't look the same as when I first got her, after all." He grinned. "She's changed about as often as I have."
Jess snorted quietly. "I see," she said. "Well, I like how she looks now. It's nice. Kind of homey without being too painful."
The Doctor nodded.
"I like how she looks, too," he said. He grinned. "Then again, I always have." |
Jess chuckled and nodded her agreement. "Anything in here you don't want me getting into? Certain rooms or whatnot?" Obviously not the heart of the Tardis, because that wasn't something you could just get into anyway.
"Not in particular," the Doctor replied, shrugging a bit. "The Tardis likely won't let you in anywhere you're not supposed to be, anyway."
"Good to keep in mind." Jess shrugged and settled down where she was for the moment, waiting for the other two.
The Doctor looked at her for a moment, thinking.
"Feel like going back out to the market for a little while? Jack mentioned they would be a couple hours." |
Jess shrugged. "Sure, I could go browse some more." She headed for the door, glancing back at him. "You coming with?"
"Of course," the Doctor replied, grinning. He followed her to the door. "Let's go!"
Jess chuckled and headed back into the market to see what else she could find, and see what the Doctor would look at. That would be interesting to see.
The Doctor ended up looking at various exotic foods, although he did discretely pick up a brightly-colored throw pillow and tuck it under his arm. For the moment, nobody but the Tardis knew about the collection of throw pillows in his room, and he was trying to keep it that way a while longer.
Jess picked up a few more pillows for herself and Marie, as well as some very soft material that was woven into something close enough to yarn to be useable. Which was quite fortunate.
"Having fun so far?" the Doctor asked as they wandered through the market. He'd noticed what she had picked up so far, and approved. She had good taste.
"Yes. I like this market. It's not as bad as some others I've heard of." Jess glanced back at him. "Plus haggling is always fun."
The Doctor grinned at that.
"Ah yes," he said, nodding. "Haggling is even better when the cost isn't physical currency." |
"Yes it is." Jess grinned. "And trading, trading is fun, although it'll be more fun when I actually have things I'm willing to give up."
