Anyone else?

I like a lot of the classic stuff, like Mayhem, and Darkthrone, but there are some newer bands I like as well.

I don't really own any albums.

But I like Black Metal.

I like Mayhem, they're pretty cool!

I listen to music on Youtube a lot, because I can't buy anything.

I like Burzum, too, and Darkthrone is pretty cool too.

We must be the only two people here who like this kind of music.

Now I want to listen to the Esoteric Warfare album.

Penny likes a lot of different kinds of metal. I get confused as to what's what though. Burzum, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Immortal, Emperor, Gorgoroth, Endless Dismal Moan. That's all black metal, yeah? It's all stuff I like anyway. The deep sense of foreboding or general creep factor, sometimes it speaks to me. I get into moods. Truthfully I'm more into folk, viking and battle metal. Most days.

I also have days where I listen to Britney Spears with no shame so, uh, yeah.

I listen to a lot of music. I even like classical.

But I love metal. You can thrash to it!

I listened to two Venom albums after the Mayhem album, I really like metal.

Husband is insulted at lack of Bathory. Says we need more Bathory in this thread.

Oh yeah, my tastes are wicked eclectic. I like pop music, and everything else one could think of- punk, classical, classic rock etc.

I even have a Britney song or two I like too.

But there is definitely a mood that one tends to have when listening to metal, and I think that's why I came back to it.

I had an unpleasant breakup with a friend. Actually they were my caregiver, but it became pretty clear that though they'd been an ok friend, being caregiver was too much responsibility.

When your needs aren't being met, you tend to feel resentment.

That's when I first heard tales of the legendary Mayhem, and from them ended up learning about all manner of black- death- and thrash- metal that both inspired them and was inspired by them-- oldschool bands like Destruction, Kreator, and Bathory; their contemporaries like Darkthrone and Immortal; inspired progeny like Celestial Bloodshed and Necrophobic; even little side projects like Morbid, Checker Patrol and oRder....

There I was, stuck in my house with someone I resented. and then I remembered when I was still living at home with the 'rents and listening to classic metal like Venom, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Oh YEAH. Metal is the music you can get angry to!

I daresay it was a bit of a lifesaver, as I had no friends or support to back me up, but it was time to tell the old caregiver to move on. We had a spectacular loud, grumpy fight, and they moved away.

I love Black Sabbath.

I like Megadeth, too. Metallica sucks compared to them.

Megadeth stayed true to metal. Metallica turned into mushy crap.

Mushy crap is okay sometimes, but not when I need to thrash.

They just became too commercial and pop to be metal anymore to me.
