"Good," Tony said. He scribbled something on a scrap of paper and handed it to her. "That look okay for a salary?"
Anna looked at it, blinked, and swallowed. That was a lot of money.
"That's just fine with me," she said. "If that's fine with you." |
"Yeah, sure," Tony said, waving a hand. "When can you start?"
"Any time. Tomorrow. Just have to find a place for my friend and I to stay." Anna shrugged. Between them they had more than enough funds to live in a hotel for a week or so, and with this salary, she could get them an apartment no problem.
"Tomorrow's fine, tomorrow's great," Tony said. "Any questions before this thing's official?"
"I don't know, you tell me, is there anything else I should know about?" Anna raised an eyebrow at him.
Tony blinked, then grinned a bit.
"You, I like you, we're keeping you," he said. "Work starts tomorrow." |
Anna grinned. "I'll be here tomorrow morning," she said. She nodded to them all and headed back out front, grinning.
Tessa was still in the car, radio on and the windows open. She was jamming out in her seat, having a pretty good time. When she heard Anna get closer, she stopped and turned down the radio.
"How'd it go?" she asked. |
"I got the job," Anna said with a grin. "We just need to find a hotel for the next few nights, and an apartment in the area." She slipped into her seat again, still grinning.
"That's great," Tessa said, grinning. "Once we have an apartment, we'll be set." She glanced at her friend. "Is the pay good?"
Anna grinned and handed over the scrap of paper. "He just threw that out there. On his own. With no prompting from me."
Tessa looked at the paper, blinked, and looked at Anna.
"That's an obscene amount of money," she said. |
"Yes it is. Then again, it is Tony Stark throwing money around." Anna grinned as she headed back to the nearest hotel.
"I guess so," Tessa said. She grinned at Anna. "You're practically set for life, with that kind of salary."
"Yes I am, this will be great, we can pick any apartment we want." Anna grinned. "This will be the best job ever."
"Once we find an apartment, I'll see about finding a job nearby," Tessa said. "I have to at least pretend to pull my weight around here."
Anna snorted and shook her head a bit. "Well, we can do more part-time training assistant," she said. "Not immediately but in a few weeks probably."
"We'll see what happens," Tessa said. She grinned. "In the meantime, I think I want to take a look around, see where we're apparently moving to."
"Sure," Anna agreed. "Shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably spend most of the day at the place, most days, so you can come visit if you want, or just wander around."
"We'll see what happens the first week or so," Tessa said. "For all we know, they won't let me in because I don't work there. But I want to explore the city, too." She grinned. "New territory and all."
"Right. You should have fun with that." Anna grinned. "Just don't piss anyone off and you'll be golden."
"I'll be fine," Tessa said. "Don't worry about me, you just worry about your awesome new job."
"Worrying about you is my part-time job," Anna teased with a grin. "Alright, so, hotel for a few nights, we can probably find an apartment by then. This hotel look fine?"
"Looks great," Tessa said. Once they parked, she got out of the car and stretched. "They were a little paranoid back there," she commented. "One of them was watching from a window the whole time you were inside."
