"I'm not really surprised," Anna said. "I mean, this is the Avengers we're talking about, after all." She shook her head, still amazed with her luck.
"True," Tessa said. She grinned. "It was kind of cool, actually. I mean, I was jamming out in the car, so there was nothing for me to worry about, but still, the Black Widow herself was watching from the windows."
"Oh, speaking of." Anna looked at her for a moment. "Hawkeye is at least part fae. I could tell as soon as I saw him. Elf, maybe? He made this impossible shot, which is what he does but still."
"Fae?" Tessa asked, interested. "That makes a lot of sense, actually. Totally explains how he's able to shoot like that."
"Yeah, it does." Anna grinned. "Life is going to be quite interesting now, I think." Not that interesting was a bad thing.
"I think you're right," Tessa said. She stretched a bit. "Well, let's get settled for the night. We can apartment hunt in the morning.
"Yeah." Anna made sure that the room was good enough for a few nights and picked a bed, sitting down. "Apartment hunting, and then we can get anything else that we need. Hell, maybe if we stay a while we could actually get a house."
"A house would be amazing," Tessa said, grinning. "A house with a real kitchen, and real rooms." She sighed a bit.
"Yes." Anna smiled. "That would be great. But we'll see how long I think this job will last, it's kind of hard to say sometimes."
"That's true," Tessa said. "I really hope it pans out, though. This is a great thing."
"Yes it is." Anna smiled. "Anyway, we've got our room, we're set for the night. Tomorrow we can start looking for apartments, you can look for a job if you want."
"Sounds like a plan," Tessa said, grinning. "I'll go explore tomorrow while you're at the new job, I'll let you know if I find anything interesting."
"Sounds good." Anna grinned and settled in for the night. Tomorrow she got to start the fun stuff.
Tessa settled in for the night as well.
The next day, she was up around the same time Anna was, but was getting ready to go out exploring rather than go out to work. "Make sure you let me know how it went when you get back tonight," she said to her friend. |
"Don't worry, you'll know," Anna said with a little grin. "Do you want me to drop you off somewhere or are you going to be fine on foot?"
"I'll be fine," Tessa said, waving a hand. "You go on. Don't want to be late the first day, right?"
"Right. I'm going." Anna grinned briefly. "I'll see you later." She headed out to her car so she could head back to the manor.
"Yup, see you later," Tessa said. Once Anna was gone, Tessa headed out herself. Time to find out what she could about Stark's little petting zoo from the locals.
Anna waited to be let out back, glancing around and up at the house. When she spotted Black Widow, she didn't let on, just went back to looking around. No need to let the second part-fae know, after all.
Although the fact that there were three of them in one area made her a little nervous. |
Clint was already around back, although this time he didn't have his bow. Instead, he had a set of throwing knives.
"Hey, you're back," he said, glancing at her. "Good. Thought Stark might've scared you off yesterday." |
"I've worked with a lot of creatures and a lot of people," Anna said with a shrug. "Takes some doing to scare me off."
"Good to know," Clint said. He threw a knife and it buried itself in the target. He made a face. "I need to get Stark to make me a spinning target, I miss those."
Anna snorted. "Well, it does sound a little more challenging for someone like you," she said, watching him for a few moments longer before surveying the various pens and yards.
Clint snorted.
"Watch out for the wyvern, it's touchy," he called after her. |
"Thanks," Anna called back. She'd have figured that out on her own, but the little bit of heads up was nice. Besides, it meant he didn't feel like she was stepping on any toes, which was a very good sign.
