Sorry we do not ship to your country

The bane of my life at the moment are those words Sorry we do not ship to your country or We can not ship this item to your country.

Let's see what American Claire's has for me....HUGE mistake. I find stuff I like yet they don't ship outside the US and I can't get, especially the halloween stuff in the UK. Same with Hot Topic nail varnish colour I can't find anywhere.

Seriously I can buy a nail polish from China and get it shipped to me yet America won't and it's the only place I can find a certain things. Even Amazon US has failed me.

I do understand why they won't ship certain perishable goods... That could just get nasty.

Anyone else get shipping rage or question why they don't send certain items ?

jellysundae 09-27-2014 10:28 PM

I sent Wishie some nail varnish, the post office burned me for that -.- The package was opened and the varnish removed, then the package was returned to me. : /

Tell me this, if a package is prevented from leaving the country because it contains items that can't be sent overseas, then why are those items then removed and apparently "destroyed for your own safety"...[stare] BULLSHIT, those 8 bottles of varnish will have gone home with whoever opened that parcel, bastards. Taking the stuff out of the package is just petty, just return it. [stare]

APBCole 09-27-2014 10:43 PM

Limitations of postal service is that you have to pay a higher price for international shipping and not to mention the US has an exceedingly slow Customs Office so packages take forever to enter or exit the states. Sometimes you have to wait the painful month and sometimes if you're lucky then it's half a month. It sucks.

I've managed to get shipping from other countries but that's only because I tend to buy third party and by companies that internationally ship. I guess if they don't then your best bet is a third party seller like eBay or something to see if it can ship. I dunno though. I don't know what they can and can't ship by air though it's kind of stupid anyway that certain things won't ship.

I wonder how different shipping laws are for each country and what restrictions are placed on items for each country.

sjacklene 09-27-2014 11:03 PM

I do not have the problem, considering I live in the US. But I know the sending even a small package to certain countries has cost me an arm and a leg... :(

I can say this. I bought a custom wedding dress from China and I LOVED it. Made to my measurements exactly and I chose the colors used.

Cardinal Biggles 09-27-2014 11:29 PM

My problem is that ebay.co.uk usually has what I want, but many shop owners won't ship outside of the uk. I get that it is a uk specific site, but you are really limiting your sales base that way [gonk]
I was looking at something on etsy last night and shipping from canada was $20 US. Canada is my backyard. Canada, I thought we were cool, why you gotta play me like that?

HIM_ROCK 09-28-2014 10:01 AM

Posting costs are a nightmare. I'm sure alot of it isn't for the postage costs but people making up their money from the P&P, if you want more for it just ask more for it DX

I liked it better when it was only bleaching kits you couldn't send through the post overseas due to it being peroxide powder.

jellysundae 09-28-2014 10:39 AM

My main issue with the nail varnish incident is it can be sent into the UK, but not out of it >< Someone in the US can send it to me, but I can't send it to them, it's all a bit nutty. There's a huge amount of things that can't be posted out of the UK, more and more get added to the prohibited list as potential problems are thought of, the issue with nail varnish being its flammable.

Someone on Ebay totally ripped me off with postage costs >.> I only ever buy something if it's going to be sent through the post as the sorting office is just up the road so it's easy to collect things, courier deliveries are a complete nightmare where I live so NOPE, through the post or nothing. I bought an item that had postage costs quoted at £5 which was fine as it was a bulky item. Then I find a card in the area downstairs where the post goes from a courier company saying they'd tried to deliver a package...I never could get this delivered because there's nowhere for things to be left, and no way for a driver to contact me as there's no entryphone at the door...so hey, package got sent back and I got a refund.
I made a it clear to the seller that if they'd sent the package through the post, as they'd advertised, then they'd have got my money. Instead of quoting a £5 postage charge then sending it through a courier, which would have cost a lot less, and pocketing the difference. >.>

Someone else quoted a £2.50 postage charge, but when the item arrived the price printed on the stamp said £1.17. People are dicks >< But then again, someone else refunded me 27p once, because the actual cost was less than what they'd calculated. Not everyone's out to milk you. Though Ebay take a cut of the postage fees as well as the sale fees now : / That's a massive dick move if you ask me, and is only going to make a lot more people overcharge.

Im mad because no matter how much I try...I cant seem to find a way to send entemanns food to jelly in the uk. If I try shipping it, its expensive and takes essay too long so it would be misjudged or moldy when she got it. And no place ships it to England...I tried so many different online stores...and they just don't ship it there.

jellysundae 09-28-2014 12:47 PM

Maria's such a doll [hug] But seriously, what kind of world are we living in where the postal services deny people cake! [illgetu]

The Wandering Poet 09-28-2014 06:09 PM

My usual complaint is when shipping is $30 to send a bloody envelope somewhere outside the us. They probably don't international ship because it's so insanely expensive.

Pistachio_Moustache 09-28-2014 06:35 PM

Good lord, it cost me 20$ to send a package to Canada.

I was charged 6.50$ for postage for something I bought out of Canada, and the postage was only 3.79$!
Like, I understand that you have to make a living, but come on!
You overcharged for the bag, and then you want to overcharge for the postage??
D<

I don't want to travel all the way to America to go to Claire's to find out that the My Little Pony earrings I saw that I know someone will absolutely love. Only to find they haven't got them or they're no longer on sail.

Bearzy 09-28-2014 11:11 PM

Ugh, I had the nail polish problem too Jelly. I tried to order some really nice stuff off Etsy but it wouldn't ship to NZ because of customs. Luckily the store owner was really nice and gave me a refund instead of trying to send the stuff.

You wanna talk shipping woes? I live in Alaska, there are so many freaking stores that have "free us shipping" ... but they don't include ALASKA. I swear, Alaska is part of the US, I'd say we pay taxes, but really the gov't pays us for living here... haha. But still! Alaska, it's part of the 50 states. We've got our own star and flag and everything! *woe*

When places DO ship here, our packages sit in Federal Way, Washington for at least 3 weeks. The mail that we send out will get to wherever it's going with in 4 to 6 days... but mail sent up to us? Close to a month.

There are also some sites that refuse to ship to AK using the postal service, and so we have to pay extra for UPS. Thinkgeek is one of those sites, and while I love their merch to bits, I hate that it's almost always $20/shipping for 2 day UPS. I don't need it in 2 days, I just want it to arrive at some point and not cost me an arm and a leg!

APBCole 09-28-2014 11:45 PM

Alaska might as well just be part of Canada so you can get better shipping.

Amane 09-29-2014 12:40 AM

This video is not available in your country.

APBCole 09-29-2014 12:43 AM

Surprisingly don't deal with that as much due to being in the US.

Any other country and it's basically common.

Amane 09-29-2014 12:48 AM

I'm in the US, too. It took me years to start running into it, but it is still rare.

sjacklene 09-29-2014 12:49 AM

I think I have run into that problem once... But that one is rare for me.

hnng this.
Not so much these days, peoplare are finding better ways around the restrictions, but used to happen all the time (and I do live in the US).

I've only sent a few letters to someone outside the US, but even our shipping costs WITHIN the country are sometimes crazy. Cant imagine outside of it..

Stardragon 09-29-2014 01:14 AM

You can thank the idiots on this planet for all the postal goof ups. I had an idiot Mail Woman that sent my mail back to the sender because I live with my mom and deceased step dad. That's why I prefer Fed Ex or UPS.

Alas, there are so many US companies that don't ship to Canada either... and a lot of deals sites as well. Groupon and Hautelook being the main two that I've delt with this issue. It's just so damn irritating.

Cardinal Biggles 09-29-2014 02:00 AM

Yeah, I can't get the BBC iPlayer to work for me. Such grief.
