I say that too much, man.

There's a long, rotating list of words and phrases I use A LOT. Sometimes without meaning to start. Man, dude, nope, no thank you, table flips…

Less informally, I overuse "even" and "just."

XD is my face. Do not judge the XD.

Your overused phrases. HIT ME.

I overuse 'because' a lot and 'but', and I've been trying to get away from using them as much.

Amane 09-29-2014 01:53 AM

Ah, yes. But! I forgot about that one.

ElysiumFate 09-29-2014 02:42 AM

I say "yes, well" a lot, and "alright then." Also, I use "you know" too much but I've been trying to work on that one.

Antagonist 09-29-2014 03:33 AM

I use 'like' and 'just' a lot. I sometimes have to go over my posts to weed them out before posting. [sweat]

Maha-Aamir 09-29-2014 04:09 AM

'I mean...' I use that a lot, as if I really need to explain in detail what i truly mean. I mean its not like the listener is dumb or something but...
Oh Gosh!!! I did it again !![twitch]

Antagonist 09-29-2014 04:11 AM

xDD!! Haha, yeah, "I mean..." too!

Maha-Aamir 09-29-2014 04:15 AM

hehehe glad others do it too... but i am the only one who does it here [:D]

ElysiumFate 09-29-2014 05:13 AM

Oh jeeze. I do the "I mean" one as well. It always comes off as assholey and I always regret it because I didn't mean it that way.

Kat Dakuu 09-29-2014 05:14 AM

I'm overly fond of 'though' and 'just'.
I say things like dude and man randomly and uselessly, even when talking to gals so it's a bit silly.

I mean...
oh wait, I do that one too.

Maha-Aamir 09-29-2014 05:18 AM

hehehe we all have 'I mean' syndrom [:D]

jellysundae 09-29-2014 09:34 AM

I find I've picked up Americanisms from "you guys". :P That and "I guess" are phrases I use that I certainly never did before. I also find they slip into actual conversation too, without me realising, and I wonder if people think I'm trying to sound cool, when I've not even noticed that I've said it. ><

I don't think people realise how unconsciously your language can be influenced by those you talk to a lot. I have a Norwegian friend, and he said once how he "couldn't be arsed" to do something and I just about died from laughing, because he absolutely picked that gem of Britishness up from me. [lol]

Uniplex 09-29-2014 12:30 PM

I use A LOT of phrases a lot... But my personal favorites are "Um.... No..." "That's bullcrap!" and "Because no."
... I tell people no a lot. I'm not a very nice person XD

Alexander J Luthor 09-29-2014 12:36 PM

"Actually" "awkward" "hawkward"... I have kind of a weird list. I'm also an "I mean" "like really" and an "umm" person.

jellysundae 09-29-2014 12:41 PM

I think I can say that "PFFT!" is one that I use quite a lot. [lol]

Pistachio_Moustache 09-29-2014 07:07 PM

I use "like" and "but" a lot.
"Although" ends up in my sentences a lot.
Same with "a lot."
xDD
"Dude" is my vocabulary.
xD

Antagonist 09-29-2014 07:13 PM

I think I picked up 'bloody hell' from reading too much Harry Potter. [XD]

jellysundae 09-29-2014 08:49 PM

Ron says that an awful lot, doesn't he! [lol]

Amane 09-29-2014 09:39 PM

I used to say "um" every two seconds because I'm horrible at talking IRL. [headdesk] Now I stutter and leave awkward silences, and now I understand why people say um.

Cherry Who? 09-30-2014 01:43 AM

I say "even" and "just" too much. Sometimes I say them twice in the same sentence (used in the same way). In fact, I know I just did that on a post I made a few minutes ago. I didn't feel like fixing it because I need to own up to that stupidity. [lol]

Lately I'm saying "I don't know, man" constantly. To everything.

I also say "like" a lot. Like, a lot.

Also, "and." I start sentences with and. I make long, run-on sentences with too many "and"s. I'm not so good at separating my thoughts up into multiple, coherent sentences unless I'm given the chance to really sit and think about it (like on essays).

let's just be honest, these words make up 3/4 of our conversations.

zigbigadorlube 09-30-2014 07:18 PM

I say "let me tell you" a lot for no reason. It's a weird thing I developed recently...

Cherry Who? 10-01-2014 02:45 AM

It could be worse. It could be "tell you what." [lol]

Uniplex 10-01-2014 04:17 PM

Oh my goodness, thanks to Trigun I will randomly go around shouting "LOVE and PEACE!!!!" ... Way too much.

Maxipuff 10-01-2014 05:32 PM

I use "like" and "xD" is also my face. ><;;;

I'm not very eloquent, so most of the time my words are all fumbly!
I guess that leads to a lot of um's and awkward pauses.

I also tend to say "I think" and "I feel like," because I don't like to make definite statements or offend anyone, haha. ^^;;
