"I'm... sorry... I wish I could help you." Raven sighed, sipping her tea some more. She felt bad, that even though she was with the organization, she had no knowledge that could aid in any way.
"But you want to help, that's more than enough for me," Amaya said softly.
"I'm glad you took what I said to heart after all this time. We aren't all like those mindless idiots in the White Fang. I was afraid today would of destroyed all that I worked for." Raven looked down into her tea, staring right at her reflection
"I'll admit I was thinking about interrogating the hell out of you, but that wouldn't have helped anyone, but I did see the numbers flash across my mind," Amaya admitted.
"I was trying to avoid that outcome. I may be a faunus, but I have respect for humans... most of them at least." Raven sighed, "With your past, I knew I had a lot of work to do to prove myself to you, to prove that I wanted to be your honest friend. To be honest, Last year was hell with that. I understand, I really do. Scars run deep, they do not heal easily." Raven took a sip of her tea. "But I am a persistent wolf. I'm not one to take things without a fight, so to speak."
She looked to the side, just taking in who was around them. "To be honest, I wasn't even sure convincing you would work. I had serious doubts the entire time. And with what was revealed today, my fear that it would all of been for nothing came back in full force. My past is not something I am truly proud of. What I strove for... I'm proud of that. But how I had to accomplish it because of manipulation. It angers me." |
"And you took the time to get to know me. You didn't write me off as a person who hated Faunus just because I was being racist. I saw that you were honestly trying to understand where I was coming from, even if I was a total bitch at the time, no offense" Amaya replied as she reached over and grabbed Raven's hand lightly.
"What you revealed to me today is something that I will treasure, because you allowed me to see a side of you that none ever got to see: your curse. Granted it did surprise and frighten me at first," she admitted. Then again, she did warm up to that rabbit Faunus Velvet after a while. |
"Even if it was because of racist ideals, I wouldn't of changed how I acted. I hope you understand that what I have always strove for since I was a child as true equality between Faunus and Humans." Raven sighed, "And you now understand the true reason behind why I hid my semblance. I cannot control it, I become mindless... Those within that group... They use to call me a Beowolf in a derogatory tone, because I fought so savagely, and... like a Grimm..."
"I can see why they would do that, but I won't. And I know Amy and June wouldn't do so either if they saw your Semblance" Amaya responded warmly before taking another sip of her hot chocolate. "And I do understand how you want to bring equality between humans and Faunus, I just hope it can be done" she added.
"Sadly, I doubt it. After all my time in protest, and fighting for what I felt was right... No real progress has been made. I'm not talking about a few people, but as a nation and community. Small steps need be taken and they haven't as far as I am concerned." Raven looked down and sipped her tea. "Furball would agree..." She said softly, not realizing what she said.
"Furball?" Amaya asked.
Raven blushed that she spoke aloud, but was more worried about what she would be saying. "A... A... nickname I gave a friend, the only friend I had there that had the same ideas and thoughts as I did."
"Oh? I thought you said everyone there called you 'Berserker' because of your semblance. Who was your friend?" Amaya asked, now completely curious. "Come on Rae...you can tell me. I won't tell a soul, promise." she said, practically begging to know the answer.
"You better not tell... Not until Blake is ready to tell the others." Raven said, knowing she couldn't resist the begging and the look in Amaya's eyes that she was giving her. She felt bad that she told, but it was probably better this way then dealing with the begging.
"Wait...Blake, as in Blake Belladonna?" Amaya asked, surprised. Not only as to who it was but the fact that Raven gave in so easily. She thought she would have to beg a little more. "She doesn't seem like a Faunus though" Amaya admitted.
"Let's just say, She's hid that fact well. But yes, that Blake. My only friend from there. Now you can understand why I had the surprise look when I saw her. I didn't think she left, I thought she was still a member. I was glad she abandoned those morons."
"I see. Then I'm glad that you've met back up with her Rae," she said with a light smile, though she wondered what type of Faunus Blake was now.
"I use to call her Furball when we were kids. I picked on her all the time with a laser pointer." Raven laughed, "She's like my little sister, she was the only family I had."
"So she's a cat?" Amaya asked as ideas came to her mind.
"Not many others would fall to a laser pointer so easily." Raven laughed, "when I meet with her next time... Why don't you come with me? I'm sure when she finds out you know about my past, she'll be a little more open... You could bring the pointer we have from that group study session last year and see for yourself."
"You sure you're okay with that? I don't want to take away time with your friend/sister.
"She would have to get to know you sooner or later." Raven smiled and took the last sip of her tea. "Besides, I'm sure you'll get a laugh out of how she is when you use a pointer. Though it should be me that does it. It might help her a little bit with adjusting to here. She seems so... uptight. More so then I remember." When the waitress returned, she ordered another tea, turning to Amaya. "Would you like something else or the same thing?"
"I should get to know her, and to know that there are people out there that are okay with Faunus" Amaya responded "And why should you be the one that does it? Because she knows you?" she asked before the waitress returned. "Can I have another hot chocolate please?" she asked. After the waitress took their orders, Amaya turned her attention back to Raven. "So she wasn't as uptight as before?"
"Not around me. Our little meeting today... She seemed to be very uptight still, always on edge. She wants to hunt for the White Fang... I had to talk her out of it, It isn't worth risking our lives over it."
"She probably wants to repent for any crimes perhaps?" Amaya said as she thought about how Blake was thinking.
"We've all done stupid things... But even with her admitting it before, she never was like this."
