This site isn't as active as I thought.

When I lost my account on Gaia Online I hoped this site would be as great. The thing is it's not as active and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. WHy is there not as much active users on here?

Uniplex 10-03-2014 02:22 PM

A lot of it has to do with time of day/year. People are quite active sometimes, then other times the site is like a wasteland of sorrows. You just kinda gotta time it right and pay attention and stuff. There are also a lot of creepy lurkers who are on a lot, but you just never know they are because they're... Well... Lurking.

yanyan13 10-03-2014 03:02 PM

people are probably sleeping at this time? *slides back into the shadows*

lunanuova 10-03-2014 03:19 PM

I would guess that not as many people know about Menewsha as they do Gaia. It's a shame, but then you could see Gaia as an over populated place and find the peace enjoyable here. I agree that it is very ghost-town like at times, however, if you are around for an event you would see how busy it can get.

What the flim flam? Afrodonkey what are you doing? [rofl] I'm so glad I stumbled onto this thread. BAHHAHA!

Plus, we don't allow bumping, trolling, and spam here. To be honest, most of gaia's activity is due to those three things. So while we are "slower," the conversation here is actual conversation...not someone bumping 100 times in an hour.

Nephila 10-03-2014 08:23 PM

I just got home from work. XD

CloudDreamer 10-03-2014 08:32 PM

School (yay college) and my life offline have been keeping me from posting as much, and I've not been a super social mood lately, so that's why I tend to lurk. [sweat]

jellysundae 10-03-2014 08:41 PM

Comparing us to Gaia is like comparing New York City to somewhere out in the middle of the Kansas prairies; we're tiny compared to Gaia, that's why it's quieter. [yes]

Nephila 10-03-2014 10:01 PM

Yes we have way WAY less mugging. *nods*

Pistachio_Moustache 10-04-2014 12:54 AM

I've been busy with real life.
Two jobs, a son and a hubby and house to take care of.

It's not as active no. But most posts here are legible and worth reading here.

As someone that was from gaia... While more active that site has nothing on us when it comes to quality.

also our lovely staff are really kind hearted people who have many friends here.

Oi afro donkey stop being so psychedelic. that isn't your final form ;)

onsenmark 10-04-2014 03:01 AM

Man, I look at Afrodonkey, and I want to have a seizure. [sweat]

But yeah, I like it here -- it's really low-key.

Then again, it's not like I have that much to say, in any case. [sweat]

OH MY GOSH, NPC ATTAAAAAAAAAAAACK.

But really, a huge chunk of our users are in America, then the other huge chunk is in Europe, the other few are scattered across the globe. That's literally day and night for the user base, but I'll do it for my friends. Some of us get up early, others stay up late, we dedicate ourselves to the forums so we can stay in contact with long distance friends.[glomp]

If you want some fun I'd suggest the GD. There's been a recent rule change so we could have more freedom to post and get more off topic than the other forums allow. I've been loving it because some of the best conversations evolve into nothing you expected from the original topic, and on some topics you eventually run out of things to say anyway, so win/win.

Plus, stick around for the items. The avatars are pretty different, but in a good way. You can do so much stuff with your avatar for a site that has hardly any funding. (Sorry, donators! I want to be one of you, maybe some time soon?)

Dystopia 10-04-2014 08:52 AM

Mene doesn't have as many people. So it moves slowly. :x Most people find a little niche that's active when they're active and hang out there.

..but we have "potential" *starry smile*

we are an undiscovered diamond in the rocks!

Heidi 10-05-2014 04:25 AM

Maybe if Menewsha had a re-design or something, I feel it has potential to become more populated. Somehow this site feels too forum-oriented, if there something like Gaia Towns or zomg then I think a lot more people would love to join.

zOMG would take a ridiculous amount of coding. Towns would require coding and, though more likely than zOMG, would also require money. Donations are kind of low right now.

CloudDreamer 10-05-2014 06:59 AM

I also feel that if Mene did have Towns or something like zOMG, it'd turn into something more like Gaia - possibly. :/ And that'd not be a good thing.

Alexander J Luthor 10-05-2014 07:55 AM

We could do with a bigger crowd, but nothing like those numbers.

The Wandering Poet 10-05-2014 02:16 PM

It isn't towns that turned gaia into a troll infested wasteland. it was the greed.
besides mene could do towns like they do the avatar creator. donate once and you get access to it.

Alexander J Luthor 10-05-2014 06:48 PM

Good point. One of those special features.
