liquidrage I feel like that about the commons.

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:01 AM

Plus it made it easier for me to follow them - because even though I'm hearing, I tend to follow the interpreters most of the time if they are there. :P

It's something I've started since becoming fluent.

PapillonCameo 10-31-2014 03:03 AM

I would love to learn how to sign.

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:05 AM

Papillon: If you want, I can send you some resources that I know of that can help you with signing - one even has (if I'm remembering correctly) a bunch of free lessons for ASL 1, and ASL 2. :]

Kat Dakuu 10-31-2014 03:05 AM

I just don't have the motivation to learn sign.

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:06 AM

I love signing and deaf culture and the people I've met. I'm bilingual now! :)

I've been signing for 5 years (like taking classes and learning to sign) this coming January. :]

That'd be great! And I'm sure I could find some books that would help too.

Ok, I'll PM them over to you. :]
And being a visual language - visual online dictionaries are actually more helpful than printed dictionaries so you can actually see properly how the signs are supposed to be signed. ^_^ At least that's what I've found out. ^_^

Lavinia 10-31-2014 03:09 AM

I keep trying to learn Italian as i want to take a backpacking trip there next year, money permitting.

But apart from the basic greetings nothing else seems to stick D=

And my laptop keeps lagging, so its hard to keep up tonight xD

Some books come with dvds though. It's just a matter of finding them, I bet.

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:11 AM

Lavi: Oh, that would be so fun!! I know my mom really wants to go to Italy! I hope that works out for you! And that you can find a way to try to get other than basic greetings to stick! [hug] Maybe the lagging is trying to tell you to go to bed? :P

Oh, true, good point. If I lived closer, I'd let you borrow my ASL 1 through 4 workbooks, they come with DVDs and exercises. [yes]

But I tend to not like those very much, too much looking up and down up and down, and I miss too much. I like the sign dictionaries, and whatnot. But if you think books with DVDs would help, then look into them. ^_^

PapillonCameo 10-31-2014 03:14 AM

I have relatives in Italy, so ... another language I want to learn. XD

Cloud- It's probably a matter of preference too.

Andraus 10-31-2014 03:14 AM

Our parents hopes become our burden. We must find our own liberation.

PapillonCameo 10-31-2014 03:15 AM

Anyway, I need to sleep now! Night everyone.

Andraus 10-31-2014 03:16 AM

Good Night Papillon

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:16 AM

Papillon: True, very good point! Night! Sleep well, sweet dreams!

Kat Dakuu 10-31-2014 03:18 AM

Night papi.

I've wanted to learn Korean or Japanese. I picked up some of each just watching tv and listening to music. Japanese sure would help with all the untranslated doujinshi I'm dying to understand.

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:19 AM

I wish I was better at spoken languages, but I'm not.

Kat Dakuu 10-31-2014 03:20 AM

I could never learn in the classroom, but it seems to work better when I'm always hearing it and seeing translations on the screen. It's the reading/writing part I can't even begin to grasp.

Lavinia 10-31-2014 03:20 AM

think tonights a good time to finally put some drawers in my inventory, sorting tiiimes

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:22 AM

Thankfully, with ASL, there is no writing. :P There is no written form of ASL.

Andraus 10-31-2014 03:23 AM

I'm terrible at starting conversations, but here we go.

People tell me that trying to fight the people in power is pointless, that there is nothing I can do to change it. People have called me Barbaric, an Agitator, Stubborn, and many other things. I don't do what I do, because I hate Authority. I oppose Tyranny. I oppose other people telling me how to live my life. I will not willingly submit to something I don't believe in, or support.

Kat Dakuu 10-31-2014 03:26 AM

you don't use drawers, lavi?! I would never live!!

I think when I tried learning some ASL before, it was easy enough for me. It's the sort of thing I would be good at, but I'm chronically unmotivated with almost all tasks. I never follow through if I have no outside motivation.

what are you talking about Andraus?

CloudDreamer 10-31-2014 03:27 AM

I don't use drawers either, but then again I have a TINY inventory after getting rid of pretty much all my stuff (selling all my commons, and giving away most of my CIs and EIs).

Ah, yeah, having motivation definitely does help. [yes]

Kat Dakuu 10-31-2014 03:30 AM

I need other people to tell me to do things and dangle rewards. Only writing can I motivate myself to do most of the time, especially with ideas like nano deadlines.

I have over 2k items in my invo...
