Down the Rabbit Hole

An Alice in Wonderland Special

Evergreen Goddess 12-21-2014 03:10 AM

Name: Hatter AKA: Mad Hatter
Age: 23
Bio: Hatter always likes to remain positive even in the worst of times. However, there are some times when even he cannot smile. When worst comes to worst, a tea party always seems to help. Especially when his friends join him. It's been a few years since Alice had last visited and even though many say she won't be coming back, Hatter likes to pretend that she will...even though a part of him knows that she probably has forgotten all about Wonderland.

Hatter had once again hosted a wonderful tea party. Though, he always felt that something, or better yet, someone was missing. "Alice.." Hatter whispered to himself as he cleared the table. It had been a few years since he had last seen Alice and he had to admit that Wonderland wasn't the same without her. Sure it was still fun and full of marvelous creatures, but the tea parties seemed lonely without little Alice to join in on the fun. No one ever brought her up, it was as if they had forgotten all about her, but not him. He still remembered her vividly in his mind. Still, he didn't dare mention her name either for fear of upsetting someone somehow. Walking into his house, Hatter placed the dishes in the sink and quickly washed them. Some were broken, some were only cracked or chipped, and some were still intact. All were lovely though and of various colors to please everyone.

Once the dishes were washed and dried, Hatter dried off his hands and headed to his room for bed. It was getting rather late outside now and the moon was starting to peak out from behind the clouds. Getting dressed for bed, he set his favorite and only top hat on a hook in the wall before slipping into bed and looking out the window next to his bed. It was a nice night but he was too tired to properly enjoy it and before long, he was fast asleep. Alice...Alice! he called out in his dream. Alice please stop hiding! Hatter called out in his dreams.

Alice, in what most people considered reality, sat in a rather over crowded lecture hall, desperate to stay awake. Her sleep had been interrupted every night this week with the strangest dreams. Hoeven when she woke up all sue could remember wa a tall stringy man in a top hat.

Little by little her head lowered until she rested as comfortably as one could on a hard wooden desk. "Miss Alice! Please kindly, if you don't object, refrain from sleeping in my class!" The professor bellowed. This of course jolted the girl awake once more. "I apologize Sir." One of her friends looked over with a concerned look on her face, only to be greeted with a head shake from Alice. Hatter.... Now she had a name. He looked so familiar but she couldn't remember. Maybe she would see him again tonight.

Evergreen Goddess 12-31-2014 08:53 AM

"Alice!" Hatter gasped as he sat up in his bed and looked around at his dark bedroom, only lit by the moonlight entering through the window. He had seen her in his dreams and he was pretty sure that this wasn't the first time that this had happened. "Why is this happening?"he asked himself and sighed. "Get a hold of yourself Hatter, you truly have gone mad now haven't you?" he said to himself and smiled some. If Alice was there...she probably would have told him that he was mad, and that would have made him actually very happy. Sighing softly, Hatter knew that he had to get some sleep though since he hadn't slept very well the past few days for reasons unknown even to him. "Now, now...just lay back down and close your eyes Hatter." he whispered and yawned softly as he lay back down in his bed and glanced out the window at the moon and the stars. "Everything happens for a reason." he whispered to himself, hoping to reassure himself. "The reason will show itself...eventually."Hatter said to himself and frowned.

No matter what he said, he couldn't help but feel sad. He missed Alice and he didn't think he'd see her again, but he still liked to remain hopeful that someday she would return even if it was just for a little while. Maybe Alice IS returning! M-Maybe that's the reason behind these odd dreams! Hatter thought to himself with a grin on his face. With this thought in mind, Hatter managed to close his eyes and quickly fall to sleep, hoping to see her very soon. I'll be waiting... he thought to himself in his sleep.

That night, as Alice finished her studies, she found herself remembering her dreams from long ago. " Oh Alice, that was childhood nonsense! You are too old for this kind of thing now." She scolded herself. " Where people celebrate their unbirthdays... oh Alice you really are dense." She sighed. Deep inside though part of her still held on to the hope that it wasn't just a dream.

"If I could only I could figure out who this Hatter was." She sighed getting ready for bed. As she pulled her night shirt over her head she thought she saw a white blurr. "Dinah? Was that you?" She asked seeing the cat curling up on Alice's desk. "You remember Wonderland don't you? You became such good friends with Door Mouse." Alice giggled at that. " Oh Dinah I must be tired. Sleep tight my friend." She smiled scratching behind the cats ears.

She soon found herself sleeping again and once again dreaming of Hatter. "Hatter! Wait!" she called to the man who was just out of her reach.

Evergreen Goddess 01-03-2015 05:37 AM

'Hatter! Wait' Hatter heard in his dream just before waking up to a brand new day. "What a strange dream...I really am mad." he said to himself with a confused look on his face. yawning, he managed to get out of bed, bathe, and get dressed for the new day. The birds were chirping outside his window and there was a knock on his front door. "Coming!" he called out and opened the door only to see the tiny door mouse standing there. "Good morning Hatter, have a good sleep?" she asked. "W-well y-yes. Come in." he said and looked around before closing the door and handing her a cup of tea. "I actually had the strangest dream." Hatter started. Hearing this, the door mouse raised an eyebrow in curiosity and looked at him. "What sort of dream was it?" she asked. It was here that Hatter began to explain to the door mouse his dream involving Alice. "I'm mad aren't I?" Hatter asked. "Possibly. Alice is gone hatter, and she isn't coming back. There is no way she can find us on her own, someone has to bring her here and I am not going to be the one to do it." she explained. "W-well I would help her but I obviously can't." Hatter said with a frown.

"We cannot bring her here, but perhaps the White Rabbit can. Of course finding him might not be too easy." The door mouse explained softly. "You're right. The White Rabbit could guide her here, but what makes you so sure he'll want to help us?" Hatter asked. "I'm not so sure he'll help, but there is nothing wrong in asking." the door mouse replied easily. "Come now Hatter, let us look for him." she said and grinned as the hatter picked her up, placed her on the brim of his hat, and walked out into the woods with her.

angel the dark one 01-03-2015 07:53 AM

Alice woke up with a jolt, yet again. This time her face was hot and wet from crying. She wiped her eyes and her face with the corner of her comforter. " Oh Alice! They aren't real! None of it was!" She scolded herself into her blanket. This however didn't help any and she laid back down burying her face in her pillow crying more.

"I want to go back! Why can't I go back?" She asked into the pillow. " Go back where Alice. " this of course made her jump. "Martin? What are you doing here?" She asked wiping her face once again. "Why are you crying Alice?" Martin asked concerned.

Alice shook her head not wanting to go into it with her unwanted fiancé. He was only her fiancé because her parents were forcing her to marry him for stupid status. "I have class soon Martin, I can't really talk about it." She said pushi bf past him.

Meanwhile, White Rabbit, was pacing back and forth, nervously waiting for the time to pass.he was so lost in his pocket watch He didn't realize he had wondered into Hatters neighborhood. "Oh my! I'm going to be late! The queen will be so angry!" He started panicking.

Evergreen Goddess 01-04-2015 06:06 AM

"Do you think we will find him?" Hatter asked. "Perhaps...perhaps not. Finding him is one thing, getting him to help is another. It might be hard to get him to help since the queen was never fond of Alice you know." the door mouse explained. "Yes I know that. All we can do is hope and try." Hatter replied as they continued looking through the woods. They walked right past the large smoke cloud from Absolem's direction and walked past the talking flowers. They looked for a long while until they came across a voice, "I'm going to be late!". "The white Rabbit!" both Hatter and the door mouse gasped in unison before walking quickly in the direction of his voice. "Oh White Rabbit, we're so glad that we found you!" started Hatter. "Are you on your way to see the Queen?" Hatter asked.

"That can wait a while longer I think. White Rabbit, would you be willing to do us a big favor?" the door mouse asked politely. "I know you have other more important things to do, like visit her majesty, but we were hoping you could help us and guide Alice back into Wonderland." she explained. "What do you say? Will you do it?" she asked. Both Hatter and the door mouse were silent as they waited for a response, and Hatter knew getting him to help wasn't going to be very easy.

angel the dark one 01-05-2015 06:59 AM

White Rabbit looked at the duo. "Oh no. Oh no no no. I can't I simply can't do it! Miss Mouse, Mr. Hatter, you kbow the lines between Alice's world and Wonderland can never be blurred again. The Queen would have my head! No absolutely not. Though Wonderland has been dull with out her." He shook his head as if to clear his thoughts. "No. I can not do it."

Hatter, help me come back.... Alice kept thinking all day about how much she wanted to go back. Like she did when she was younger. But it wasn't real. And she knew it was impossible for her to go somewhere that didn't exist.bring me back Hatter. ...

Evergreen Goddess 01-06-2015 07:41 AM

"Ha! There! You said it already White Rabbit. Wonderland isn't the same without Alice around." The Hatter replied and clapped his hands happily. "Yes you did, and as for the Queen...well her Majesty surely will not find out unless someone tells her. So just keep quiet and all will be well." the door mouse explained. Seeing that the White Rabbit was set on not going, the door mouse frowned and looked at Hatter before looking back at the White Rabbit. "Look now, one of us shall go with you so that you don't have to worry about going alone." she said and looked at the Hatter. "Won't we?" she asked. The hatter frowned slightly and shook his head. "I possibly cannot go door mouse, I have a tea party to plan. I'm afraid you'll have to accompany sir rabbit here and bring him and Alice back safely." Hatter explained.

"Can't you plan the tea party after all this is done?" asked the door mouse. "I'm afraid not." replied the Hatter. "I have people to invite, a table to set, and tea to prepare." he explained. Giving up, the door mouse turned to face the White Rabbit and smiled. "Well what do you say now? Will you reconsider and help guide Alice back here?" she asked. "I shall be joining you so you do not have to worry about being alone or getting lost. Though I'm sure you won't be getting lost since you probably know the way to go about this whole thing right?" she commented with a nod of her small head.

angel the dark one 01-06-2015 07:49 AM

Rabbit looked completely appalled that he had said such a thing. "I certainly will not do it! Not even with you Miss Mouse. The Queen has her spies everywhere you nitwits." The Rabbit sighed hearing Hatter drone on and on about his silly party. "Oh! Of course I have known how to do it. I've known all along! But if you remember correctly Hatter, you didn't stop her. In fact you told her to go home." He pointed out.

Though even that seemed petty and ridiculous. "How long do you need to plan this ridiculous party? I mean the trip takes time it isn't like just skipping though the woods." Rabbit explained.

Evergreen Goddess 01-06-2015 09:12 AM

The hatter frowned slightly and crossed his arms across his chest. "I only did so because I was sure someone would worry if she wasn't where she was supposed to be. That doesn't mean I don't want her to visit every now and again." Hatter explained softly. "Now, Now...no need to get upset about this. Neither of you. White Rabbit...I know you have other more important things to do but can't you find it in your heart to help us out?" asked the door mouse. When Hatter heard the question, he thought for a bit. "Well not very long really. At most an hour just to invite everyone. I can make the tea and set the table rather quickly." he answered honestly. Listening to the White Rabbit, both the Hatter and door mouse nodded in understanding.

"That is quite alright White Rabbit, we're not rushing you. Take all the time that you need." The door mouse assured softly with a kind smile. "What about her majesty? Won't her spies see sir rabbit here running off?" asked Hatter. "Hmm...possibly, but he's done it before so he surely knows what to do if they see him." the door mouse explained. Hatter still wasn't so convinced but hoped that she was right and that the white rabbit wouldn't get into any trouble. He didn't want him to get into any trouble, especially not with the queen.

angel the dark one 01-07-2015 08:42 AM

"I won't be seen if I don't want to be seen." Rabbit said rather annoyed. "However there is one little snag in this plan of yours Hatter. What if she doesn't want to come back or doesn't remember? I can't make her come down here again, and besides you two didn't part on best of terms." He pointed out. With one more expasperated sigh, Rabbit held a hand up to make sure they didn't speak yet. "Give me three hours. Miss Mouse I assume you are ready."

"Oh? Are we planning something.... devious?" A disembodied voice asked with a chuckle. Soon up in a tree branch came a toothy grin, then bright cat like green eyes followed. Soon the face fully formed for the Cheshire. "What sort of treachery are you three planning?"

Evergreen Goddess 01-08-2015 12:07 AM

"If she doesn't want to come back or doesn't even remember this place, then there is no need for her to come back. However, if she does want to return then that's where you can bring her here." Hatter explained and frowned slightly at his last comment. 'We didn't part...on the best terms' Hatter thought to himself. He couldn't remember why they would be upset with each other but maybe Alice knew. Either way, it didn't matter now. He wasn't upset with anyone and if Alice didn't remember anything, then she wasn't going to be upset either. The door mouse nodded at White Rabbit's words and smiled. "Of course I'm ready, lead the way." she said politely before looking up towards the voice.

"Cheshy, we're not planning any sort of treachery. If you're going to scold someone it should be me." Hatter started. "I'm the one that's been planning this, and I managed to convince these two to help me is all." he admitted. "If you really want to know though, I'll tell you. I'm planning on bringing Alice back...well, if she wants to come back that is." Hatter explained. The door mouse frowned slightly and shook her head. "This all started when Hatter told me about these dreams he was having. They led to this plan which we still don't know what the outcome will be, but it never hurts to try." she explained softly.

angel the dark one 01-08-2015 01:03 AM

"Well this is intriguing. "Ches grinned. "Well, I'll have you know, Alice has been having dreams too. All about you Hatter." The feline like person winked. "Don't bore me with questions though. Just go get her!" Ches winked humming as she disappeared.

"Well that was peculiar. Lets go Miss Mouse. We must act quickly if we want to get her here before the Queen finds out." Rabbit said checking his watch again. Who cared about the Queens stupid game, this was far more important of a task.

Evergreen Goddess 01-08-2015 01:46 AM

Hearing this surprised Hatter and caused the door mouse to snicker at his reaction. "S-she has?" hatter asked and watched as the feline disappeared as quickly as he had appeared. "Very peculiar indeed." agreed hatter as he looked over at the two. "Well then, we have no time to waste. I'll leave you two to do what you must and I'll go get the tea party ready, good luck." he said with a grin on his face. "Yes, let's go Sir Rabbit." the door mouse agreed and waved at the hatter before quickly following the White Rabbit through the woods.

The Hatter watched as they vanished deep into the woods and sighed softly. "She's been having dreams as well...very interesting. That means she must remember Wonderland, and me!" he exclaimed happily before heading out to where the tea party was to be held. He made sure the table was set and that the cups, plates, and every little thing needed for the tea party was there. When that was done, he started to personally invite his friends to attend. Three hours was a long time but he was using that time to actually prepare the tea for his guests and even reserved a seat for Alice if she were to arrive.

angel the dark one 01-08-2015 02:04 AM

"Stay close Mouse. We must be quick." Rabbit muttered. They had to be quick to avoid Jack while on patrols, and they had to be silent. Soon the managed to find the new portal. Where it would lead them he had no idea, nor did he know what he would look like on the other side. Last time he looked like himself, which was odd in itself. He heard the appearance of one from Wonderland would be altered to match those in Reality Land. Or maybe they just didn't notice the change, it was all very peculiar to him.

Alice sighed in the library trying to fight her way through the law books she was reading for her classes, only to find her self frustratedly scratching at her hair making the straight blond locks now look more like a birds nest. She was just about to settle back in to it when the whole building shook, sending books flying from the shelves.

"Well that was interesting." A rabbit like man said to a woman who had small mouse like features.

Evergreen Goddess 01-08-2015 04:32 AM

The door mouse quickly and quietly followed the White rabbit through the woods until they reached the portal that would take them to Reality Land. Stepping in after him, she dusted herself off and looked around. "Very." she agreed and looked at him. "So this is where Alice is supposed to be?" she asked. "I just hope we can actually find her." the door mouse muttered softly as she looked at her surroundings.

Hatter smiled proudly at the finished tea and looked at Alice's seat. It was one closest to his seat but still left enough space between them so that everyone would know that he, was the host of the tea party. "I just hope that everyone does arrive like they said they would." he said to himself as he made sure everything was in the right spot. He didn't invite the door mouse since he had been so busy but he was going to invite her the moment she got back.

angel the dark one 01-08-2015 05:35 AM

Alice looked at the two with a curious look. "Um you two alright?" She asked rushing to help them from the sea of books. Ironically they came through the fiction section. "That was a odd thing to happen." Alice more or less muttered to herself as she started picking up the books.

"We are quite alright aren't we Mouse?" Rabbit asked. "Actually we are looking for someone, maybe you can help us out."

"Oh? Who are you looking for?"

Evergreen Goddess 01-08-2015 05:59 AM

The door Mouse nodded and smiled, "Quite alright indeed we are Sir Rabbit." she agreed and nodded in agreement at what the White Rabbit was saying to the girl. "Well, we are looking for a girl that goes by the name of Alice. We have a message to tell her you see." The door Mouse explained. "You could say we are...well old friends in a way I suppose." she added. "Might you know where we can find her? It's rather important that we find her sooner rather then later...we are in a sort of hurry." she added, knowing that the queen would send cards to go looking for the White Rabbit if he didn't show up soon.

angel the dark one 01-08-2015 06:25 AM

Alice stood a bit straighter. "Alice? My name is Alice. "

"Alice? The Alice that came to Wonderland?" Rabbit asked looking to Door Mouse. Could it really be this easy? Did they actually find her already. "Do you have dreams about a man named Hatter?"

Alice stepped back a bit. "How do you know that?" She asked.

"Come with me again Alice."

Evergreen Goddess 01-08-2015 07:10 AM

"Really? You're Alice?" the Door Mouse asked rather surprised and looked back at the White Rabbit. "Well now, this was much easier and faster than I thought." she said and smiled. "How do we know?" she repeated and chuckled. "Well Hatter has been having dreams about you actually." she started. "It's actually the reason we're here to take you back to Wonderland. That is, if you want to go back of course." the Door Mouse replied politely. "We will not force you to come with us, but if you do want to come back to Wonderland, I suggest you follow us closely." she explained.

angel the dark one 01-08-2015 07:23 AM

"Wonderland?" Alice asked shocked. "This is nonsense. But fine, take me. Lord knows I won't get anything done anyway." She said looking at them.

Rabbit looked shocked at her willingness. "W-well lets go. Quickly we are on a deadline."

"Alright, but who are you two?"Alice asked.

Rabbit opened the portal and smiled a bit. "I am the White Rabbit." He said stepping through and motioning for her to follow.
