"I do not know the details, humans of course will play as pawns in this battle but dragons themselves shall be on the field. This is unlike anything I had heard before, but the dragons are working together to do this... if all those rumors happen to be true. I have faith that things will not escalate to that extent however." In fighting will cause more of a problem then that woman will realize. It will slow their progress down enough.
|
Standing Alex started to pace back and forth in front of the fire place his mind in a whorl. Rubbing his face he tired to calm down and think about what was coming. This was way beyond anything he had thought might be happening in this world. Before he met her he had thought that the dragons were just like the dragons in Earths Myths, wisps of smoke and stories. But now here was one of the worshipers that spoke as if she herself had seen the dragons. Reaching up he scratched along the ridge of scales that had formed along his spine. Worry was not going to do anything to fix this problem and only get him riled up again. “and you’re the only one set one finding out if the dragons are really amassing an army? What will you do if you can’t find the metallic’s but find the army?” as he looked back at her his fine boned features seemed to shift slightly to a more draconic look.
|
"Which army? The Chromatic or the Metallic? If I run into the armies of the Chromatic Dragons, I will do what is within my power to halt them. If it is the Metallic Army, I would gladly join their ranks. But that is saying such a thing is going to happen. Nothing is always as it appears." She looked at him as her eyes flickered a faint red, as if fire was burning within them in a literal fashion.
|
“I was thinking the Chromatic dragons army not Metallic,” his face contorted into a micro expression of confusion and suspicion as he saw her eyes. “If I were a Chromatic dragon I would be trying my hardest to not let the Metallic’s know that I was amassing an army.” His pacing continued as he tired to think of what to say. To know that there was a danger to the people of this world that he might be able to help yet knowing that he was not of this world and so fighting in this war might not be proper for him to be doing. “By the Red and Blue I wish I had the answer.” He hissed out, as he wrapped his arms around himself trying to keep from shifting. It had been a bit to long since he had take an full shift. When they left the city in the next day or so he would need to go away from her for a bit or tell her. Turning on her suddenly his voice was soft.
“are their Were-dragons in this world?” maybe she would believe him if there were, maybe she would not try to kill him with the sight of him if he shifted. |
"Unless they've remained hidden as Were-wolves do, then I can say no. No rumors, nor tails of were-dragons. There are Dragon Disciples that are humans who gain blessings from dragons they train under. Most gain wings and the ability to use the breath of a dragon they train under." She put a hand under her chin, "That is an amusing question and one that I might start to ponder about. Were-dragons. That would be a sight I'd rather want to experience." She mused as she let her finger nail drag slightly across the skin. A creature I would never of seen before, a sight to behold I'd say if one was a were-dragon. unique... fascinating. I'm starting to sound like that woman... She let out a long sigh from that thought, "Do were-dragons exist from were you are from?"
|
Closing his eyes Alex rubbed his face with his hands as he thought. If she turely was telling the truth then he could show her and she would not want to kill him. but if he showed her what he was then she might just because he was not of this world. Peeking at her through his fingers he watched as she seemed to be interested in what he was saying. “I would think in a world like this some one like you would know if there were Were-dragons.” Taking in a deep breath he seemed to become like a statue as he made his choice. “yes.” His voice was much deeper as all his exsposed skin slowly revailed what seemed like scale tattoos only for them to become real scales. His fingers lengthening, the pinky disappearing all together as the fabric of his clothes seemed to sink into his scales. His body seemed to become fluid as he allowed his true nature to come to the surface.
Moments later the room was in circled in a flame red four toed Asian dragon. His eyes were the only thing that seemed the same. large sliver eyes that were full of worry. He had in his transformation pinned her ax to the wall by the door, but he hopped she would not try to kill him now. “any one of the dragon blood can be changed with the virus.” Standing up on his forelegs he reviled a talon print, it too was four fingered, over his heart. “I am one hundred and thirty eight of my world years old. In my people eyes I am about 25 in human years.” His whiskers twitched as he looked down at her. |
She stood up with an amazed expression. "No such person of your existence has ever been seen before." She took his appearance in as she walked back and forth around him, examining his appearance. "I have seen many strange and wonderful things but this is one I never thought I'd experience." She noticed his eyes being full of worry, giving him a smile. "You would have nothing to fear. I follow the path of Bahamut and Torm. You have shown no aggression towards me or intent to harm. To attempt to injure or hurt you would be see as ill in their eyes. They are the gods of lawful and good beings." She hoped that would help ease his fear a bit. "Dragons here can live for centuries, some even longer if they are able to survive the harsh nature of the world." His form is unfamiliar to me, slender and agile. What sort of dragons exist where he is from?
|
Dropping down so he sat like a sphinx he looked at her his eyes shifting from the silver to gold as he took her in. “I had thought that a dragon of my form had not been seen here,” his voice was low but he was keeping it so that it did not cause the walls to vibrate with it. “for I have seen no painting or work of art with an Asian Dragon on it, but there are some of my kind that look like your dragons. Though they do not fallow the laws of alignments like yours do. Our colors commonly come from our hair but some of the older ones picked gems that they would be called by. My grand Sire is the Pearl dragon, his scales gleam like the perfect white Pearls.” He brought his head down to her level so she would not have to tilt her head to see him.
“Ash,” he gingerly scratched the floor with his talon. “The Pearl dragon is over two centuries old. He may be even older, he would not tell me.” Looking her over he smiled a contented smile his eyes a bluish violet. “it is odd to be in a world where someone I just met is not trying to kill me or scream that I am a monster after I reveal myself to them, thank you.” Laying his head on his talons like a cat he seemed to almost purr. “my breed has three days a moon faze we must be in dragon form. Unlike the were-wolfs of my world we are not forced into our form on the full moon. It is just that we have to take the dragon form for three days. Sometimes I have taken it for a full six at the turning of the moon and sometimes I have taken it broke up. But I have not had a chance to take it this moon phase and now it is hard to keep from changing. Which means that I don’t think I will be able to take on human form again this night.” |
"There are thing within this world far more worthy of fear, or the want to destroy." She returned to the seat, a hand moving to her side and feeling the matted fabric lightly. "You may not be 'normal' around in this world, but that shouldn't dictate weather you are truly a monster. A Lich is more true a monster then I know you could ever become, but that is not a discussion I would like to have. I am very interested in your world now. You heard me explain many things, but I would like to know more of were you are from." She brushed a strand of hair from her face, before smiling. "I am not saying at this moment, if you wish to wait I understand."
|
Smiling he wrapped his coils around her chair to give her a bit more heat, he knew that some of his body was blocking the heat coming from the fire place, though it meant that the bed room would be nice and toasty when she went to bed. Along the spine of his body ran a ridge of fur the color of his hair. “My world is not as full of magic as yours. Though your alcamyst would call our science magic, as might the mages too.” He said the last more as an afterthought. “Much of our woods and forest have been lost to cutting down and use. The mega city I live, lived in spans from here almost to Neverwinter ((Portland OR to Seattle WA)). We have big metal passenger transports that run along tracks that we call train’s that allow a person to travel that whole distance in an hour. The rivers that once flowed on the surface have been covered over creating our own from of the underdark. But we don’t have elves, orc’s, tolls, goblins and such. Those creatures are only in books created by writers who dream them up.” He flicked his tail, the red tufted of fur at the end acting like a fan.
“there are some magical creatures in our world but they have been dying off. Ones long ago I have been told, magic was almost as abundant there as it is here. But though human greed the magic has been locked away, in dragon lines, and in artifacts that then have been lost to time.” His eyes grew blue as he seemed to lose focus on the room around him. “my kind is one of the last that is still around and we too are dying. The were-wolfs disappeared a little over a hundred years ago. If there are any other were’s out there I don’t know of them.” flicking his tail again he turned his head so he was looking at her from the side. “we have had to many wars, fighting over stupid things. Governments hording more then any dragon would try to, just to keep it from those who would pay for it. Fighting for nothing but rumors of weapons that they said they never would make.” He sounded sad and disgusted, his eyes an odd mix of orange and blue. |
She let him talk, each thing made her concerned that each problem in his world could eventually happen there. What if such a thing happened? Would she be able to stand by and let it process? There were many corrupt individuals and groups that would gladly drag the world into a darkness just like that. She gripped at seat as he finished, talking about weapons that were never said to be made and remembered and event that happened recently. "You've given me... a horrifying realization that my world could potentially be heading towards such a similar fate. City officials becoming slowly corrupted by power, waging wars against things that shouldn't exist. Mages creating dangerous devices when such things are listed as taboo. Many Fae have started to vanish from our world for an unexplained reason." She let out a sigh and uttered the next. "Even more of a reason for me to rise up and fight for this world." Baldur's Gate is starting to expand into a larger city, would a similar fate happen here. Could people truly be so suicidal that they'd destroy the world just to increase the city of a simple location?
|
“I do not mean to cause you to fear for your world. For the six years I have been here I have been working to find ways to protect what my world destroyed. Things that I can leave and will slowly grow into powerful forces for the good of your world.” Sighing he nuzzled her gently as he tried to think of ways to tell her how she could cause a change that might not be seen in her life time but would be seen in a dragons life time. “the Red and the Blue commanded dragon kind to protect the worlds from the distruction that humans can do without thought. Where ever one who knows that mandate goes they must set in place groups of people and things that will aid in the protection of the world its self.”
Reaching out he gently brushed her hair with one of his talons. It was meant to comfort her not scare her. “ there is a small group in the thieves guild, it will slowly grow as time passes. They are called shadow dragons. They are humans that have been, what we called Dragon touched. Their age will be longer then their race usually will live. But if they betray the rules that were placed with them when they got the mark they will die. Only those with a true heart may the mark be given to, and their leader has that ability to do so.” The shadow Dragons of Frangiponie had created a change that now affected most of the northern continent and was only spreading. “I have seen the world where frist the Shadow Dragons were introduced, they have moved the governments to not destroy the world that they might have done if not for the Shadow Dragons. It takes time for them to become powerful enough to do what needs to be done but in the end they should be able to stop this worlds fall like mine. Sadly mine was to far gone for the Shadow Dragons to do much other then slow the destruction.” His eyes were a silver blue. |
She didn't react to the nuzzle or the brushing of her hair. Her eyes closed as she took in the explanation. "Must I do something like that..." She said softly, not realizing that was aloud. "Any aid in our world is always looked upon by those of a good heart with admiration. There are many who want to ensure that our world doesn't falter and but also continue to grow as is needed. I seek to begin my travels in search of betterment for all beings of this world. The truly evil to be dealt with in a matter that can be managed by all those around us, and those that are misguided; those that just need to have their faith in themselves and their fellow man restored. My cause will be lost on many, but it appears that the Shadow Dragons have many similarities to my wishes. They would be a boon to my cause if it was appropriate to call upon them. However, the dangers of my quest are minimized by fewer numbers."
She gritted her teeth, and despite having her mouth closed it was clear from the tensing of her jaw. "There are those in this world that would seek destruction quickly among all else, even at the cost of their own lives. But I am sure your world holds many with the same ideals. As I learned through my years, There cannot exist good without evil. A balance must be maintained for things to be right. It is a balance that has nearly tipped more times through our history then I could ever dare wish for." Do I tell him? Do I continue to lie to him? Do I risk chaos to ensure he has my full trust, and that I hopefully gain his? I tread on unstabe grounds... |
He watched as she closed her eyes and smiled taking it as she did not fear his touch. This had been beyond what he had dreamed of in this world. The Shadow Dragons he had marked had taken the mark thinking he was a mage and using a spell not a talent he had from his blood line to do that. They had accepted his conditions to the mark and had already started to work their way into the upper ranks of the Thieves guild. From there they would have a strong hold to keep the world safer, it would not be as safe as some thought that they should do but as she was saying there could not be light without darkness. “for without the darkness how can we know what light is.” He said in agreement with her. “do you too wish to have the mark? It is not painful and it would allow you to call on them if you needed.”
|
She looked at him when he offered, a fire raged in her eyes like none he had seen yet. It was full of rage, and a true raging fire within them. "I will never allow myself to be marked, even for good. I refuse to be forced to abide by another ones rules, when I have my own life to live. I escaped a forced mentality before, and I will NOT put myself in a situation that could be considered similar." Damnit... Calm down. She caught her breath, looking away. "I... I'm sorry. Forgive the outburst."
|
Alex pulled his head away from her as she raged againted what he had offered. He knew that there were some out there that would not want to carry the mark but all he could do was offer to those he felt would fallow the rules. “I did not mean to offend you, I only thought that it might aid you and it was the quickest way for them to trust you. But if you do not think that you could.” Reaching into the air between them he pulled out a small pin that had a red and blue dragon entwined around a blood red stone. “wear this and they will know that you have my protection and that they should give you the aid you ask for you are a friend to me.” Silver with teal flaked eyes locked with hers, Please do not take offence to this, its only a token of my friendship. Never before had some one rejected one of his gifts and now he felt that she would reject anything that might aid her with the shadow dragons, she already had shown that she was more then trustworthy in his mind.
|
She sighed, gripping her knee tightly with her left hand and accepting the pin with her right. "Do not take what I said as a broken trust. Because of my life... because of what I have been through, anything that in my mind is seen as being bound to something is a thought I cannot accept." She released the grip on her knee and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "I truly do apologize, from the bottom of my heart, for the outburst."
|
His eyes seemed to glow gold as he leaned in and nuzzled her again. “do not worry, I was told that for some people out there the thought of taking the mark is like accepting death’s kiss. I just did not think that you would be one of them.” deep in his throat he started to purr as he rested there his cheek againted hers. He wanted to make her feel safe and protected, something had hurt her really badly but he did not know what it was or how to help her. “I accept your apology and will try never to make it seem like I am trying to bind you to something you don’t want to do. I offered because I had thought that you would not chafe at the rules but I still would have told you of them before marking you.” Standing he moved his whole body a little so that his lower tail was not blocking the bedroom door.
“If you wish to sleep the bed is in this door here.” He pushed the door open with the tip of his tail. “I will be staying out here in this form for the night,” he looked out the small window. “or what is left of it. Then in the morning you and I can go hunting whatever it is that you need to find.” |
"In time, When I feel that I can open up to you about my past, You will understand why I wish to not be bound by anything."She stood up as he explained were the bedroom was, nodding. "Rest sounds like a fine idea. If you are no longer bound to that form tomorrow, Then we can begin the job. The details are scarce but it is more then enough to find the item. Please, Sleep well." She bowed her head as she went into the room, closing the door behind her.
|
Smiling Alex sighed and worried the room like a cat trying to find a spot where he would feel comfortable to sleep in. after a few turns around the room he seemed to find a way of laying that was comfortable to sleep in. “good night, may your dreams be enjoyable.” With that he was asleep.
The room she entered was simple yet comfortable full. The walls were lined with shelves full of books. The shelves had been built up around the bed as well giving the bed a nice cave like feel to it. There was a desk that was tucked in under the window one the same wall as the one in the other room. The books ranged from philosophy books to books on gardening, collections of bards works to the art of Sword making. But one book stood out among all the others. Near the head of the bead was a book that was not leather bound. Its spine was covered in strange markings that as she looked at them would slowly shift into a script she seemed to be able to read.((I am assuming that she has the gift to understand all languages.)) the title read in red Dies the Fire and in black was S.M. Stirling. the book looked to be well loved for there was wear at the corners of the book. |
She entered the room, and slumped her shoulders a bit. Today had mentally worn her patience unlike any other. She slowly and carefully examined the room, touching the shelves and noting the books as she went along. She didn't need to sleep, but her body seemed to be calling out to her to lay down and rest. It was then she stumbled upon the book, picking it up and looking over it carefully. "Die the Fire..." She said softly before moving towards the bed, sitting on it in a way so she could read it. She heard the rain still patting at the window as she flipped it open, ensuring that any bookmark that was holding his spot wasn't removed or altered. She had spent an hour or two reading, but she was engrossed in this strange tale that she didn't keep track.
She wasn't sure when it happened but sleep suddenly overcame her. She didn't move in her sleep, the book resting on her chest at the page she last left it. As she slept, a small dream hit her of what may happen when he knew what she really was. It played like multiple visions, each with overly dramatic reactions that couldn't be taken seriously. She awoke upon morning, just before the sun would rise. She had to realign herself to the surroundings, for a moment not recognizing were she was at. She put a hand to her face, letting the feeling of sleep pass her by. She glanced down at the book that was still resting up on her, carefully closing the book and putting it back. I will have to ask him about it. |
His dreams had been filled with fire and blood. He knew that he was only coming off the fear that she would have rejected him but the dreams worried him. many of the places he was seeing were ones he did not know. Lands covered in trees and steams, bodies of people he thought he knew but could not place. A tune of a song he might have once heard flowed through his mind only adding to his disgust at the bloodshed. Pushing himself up from where he lay Alex felt the sun on his back, he was in his human form again though they seemed to be a bit more rumpled then he would have liked. Rubbing his eyes he moved without thought and set a pot on the coals of the fire and then breathed life into them. only after the fire was going did he think about using his fire to start this one and what it might mean if some one was spying on him.
Moments later he tapped on the door to his room. “morning, hope your up.” He sighed and rubbed his face trying to get the last of the sleep from him. “I have a small bit of tea if you want any.” |
"I am up, I am sorry I was... just looking at a book you had." She admitted as she made sure her outfit was in a good condition before opening the door. "Tea sounds wonderful." She smiled before exiting the room, and looking around. Morning, Today I begin my quest. My quest to escape them. "I am glad to see that you did not have to stay in that form for longer then last night." She stretched as she walked into the living room, letting her arm pop as she let out a relieved groan. "Sometimes, I wish I moved in my sleep."
|
Scratching up the back of his head he undid the braid, letting the chain with spikes fall to the ground. “would you like me to draw a bath for you or do you mind if we just wait till we can find a stream to wash in?” He asked as he continued to undo his hair and work his fingers deep into the hair near his scalp. By the time he was done with undoing it the hair went all the way down to his ankles. It was then he looked up at her and smiled. “so what book was it you were looking at? I have more then just a few.” He smiled his eyes the green gold that seemed to mean he was content or happy. His hair swayed gently as he walked over to the counter and pulled from it two simple but sturdy mugs that he placed on the counter. Seconds later the smell of tea filled the air as he poured the cups full with a light green tea. “I will have to find a seller of tea when we leave here. I have been told I don’t do well without my tea in the morning.”
|
"I can wait until we find a stream to bath in." She admitted, as she took a seat and waited for him to finish. "The book... I apologize, I started to read the book that you had called Die the Fire. It was... intriguing. If sleep hadn't overcame me, I may not of gone to bed because of it." Taking in his appearance when his hair was down, watched him finish preparing and serving the tea. "Tea is a great way to start the day. It tends to help me relax, so finding some before we leave would be beneficial to both of us I would assume"
