"Not unless I have to," Legolas agreed with a bright smile. "I could show you, if you were interested." He raised an eyebrow at her, leaving it up to her.
Vena considered that for a moment, and then nodded.
"I might be interested," she said. |
Legolas nodded. "Let me know when you decide," he told her. "The offer remains open for you, whenever you'd like."
Vena considered it for a moment.
"Give me a day to relax after the competition, and then I'll meet you?" she suggested, just a little tentative. |
"That's fine," Legolas agreed. Now he had something to look forward to. "And you already have my number." His smile was rather playful.
"That I do," Vena replied, grinning a bit. "Not regretting giving it to me, are you?"
"Not even a little." Legolas smirked. "You're far too entertaining to regret."
"At least I've got that going for me, then," Vena said, grinning a bit. She stretched a little. "You should go claim your trophy. I need to go home and wallow in my defeat a bit."
Legolas chuckled. "I wouldn't wallow too much, were I you," he said. "You still did very well."
"I still didn't win," Vena pointed out. "In fact, I lost because I screwed up."
"Better than many I've seen," Legolas told her with a little shrug. "Just because you lost does not mean you performed poorly."
"We should have tied," Vena replied stubbornly. She shook her head. "It just means I need more work."
Legolas quirked a bit of a grin at that. "As you say," he said, inclining his head a little to her. Oh yes, he was quite familiar with that sentiment.
Vena rolled her eyes at that.
"You're a terrible flirt," she said. "Don't think I don't notice that." |
Legolas laughed quietly. "I have been accused of that before," he said, grinning brightly.
"Pretty face like that, I'm sure you have," Vena said, grinning a bit. Okay, so maybe she was flirting back. She glanced at her phone clock and jumped a bit. "Ah, I have to go, my friend is in knife-throwing and I want to go watch."
Legolas nodded. "I'll see you again," he said. With an impish grin, he added, "Sooner rather than later I hope."
"We'll see," Vena replied, a bit teasingly. Then she turned and headed towards the knife-throwing area. It was almost time for Rory to compete.
Gimli checked his blades over one more time before his round began. He wasn't particularly worried about his standings; he knew he was doing well, and while he was competitive, it was all in good fun. And, to be honest, he was interested in this newcomer who was giving him a good fight for the top spot. |
Rory really hadn't expected to do well. So the fact that she was easily in the top three made her really rather surprised. The fact that the red-haired guy was too didn't surprise her; he'd looked like he knew what he was doing when she'd seen him earlier. She rolled her shoulders, getting set up for the second-to-last round.
"You're rather skilled," Gimli commented when he saw her between rounds. "It's impressive."
"Thank you." Rory smiled and tucked her hair behind her ears again. "So are you. You look quite comfortable out there."
"Oh I am," Gimli said, nodding."I've never felt more at home than with a blade in my hand."
Rory grinned a bit. "Try your hand at anything besides knives?" she asked, curious. Because she knew there were still some other crazy people who liked medieval weaponry besides bow and arrows. Like swords. And axes.
Gimli grinned.
"Always had a fondness for axes," he said. "For as long as I care to remember." |
"Axes, huh?" Rory grinned a bit. "I tried a throwing axe once. That was fun. Different, but fun."
