I was actually just thinking up one. There's a full list of soulmate au's to play with and I love them all so much. Here's the list if anyone should be interested.

Would you be opposed combing soulmate au with superheros? Also would you be willing to also do some doubling of characters?

I thought it might be that and I've been wanting to write something like that. I'd copy and paste ideas from your list that I'm interested in but it's hard to do on my phone.

OK. So I like the one with a clock that counts down and the one where you dream of them until you meet. The first one with color is always cool and reminds me of the carpathian series. Um playing with the red string of fate works too. I also have my own world I built but it was made for characters with animal characteristics. I suppose it would work without that element if you're interested. Omg so many ideas though!

Rei: I don't see why not. What exactly is it that you have in mind?

Kat: Animal characteristics! That sounds really fun. I'd love to try that out. Did you want to combine anything or anything that specifically caught your interest?

I was thinking soulmates maybe combined with Superhero style roleplay. The Soul Mate meme I would like to use is the counter clock. I figured we could throw in like three couples. One that's m/m and then two f/m. That way we can each be a girl, and have one fluff couple. We could do a mix of pairings, have someone be the baddie, have someone be a reporter. That way we don't just have to play three heroes or something like that. I do know I would like to play at least one hero.

So three couples with the timer soulmate au then? Sounds like fun, but difficult. We'll definitely need to discuss this a lot, lot further. :)

We'll see what mixes in. My world was basically one where different animal tribes live and there's a magic ritual you under go at a certain age that seemes like hooey. Like a shaman calls on spirits or something like that and is guided by a stick. I don't really remember how I wrote it. But basically this ceremony finds your mate for you and it's always right. But you only look within your own tribe. The story would be one where some other animal wanders in to the ceremony on accident and becomes the chosen mate. Was it an accident or fate?

I love that idea! Maybe they're there for special treaty or to make peace, or something of the sort and bam, the tribe's latest birthday guy/girl gets their ceremony. What kind of character were you looking to play?

That's fine with me. So I assume this would be a stand alone world instead of based off, Marvel or DC hero worlds.

Though I figure the concept is similar.

We can be based in a city where the crime is rising and those who have special abilities feel it's up to them to help save the world. We could either do it where heroes are establish in a sense there are others and these new ones step up to the plate. Or we can do it where heroes are a new concept in the real world.

Then like every comic has ever had happen, villains appear to make trouble.

Of course this combined with a soulmate counter.

Maybe the start of the chaos could be, that normally there just petty crimes. Yet maybe a major villain has decided to rule the town because he or she has yet to meet their soulmate. I'm not sure. I'm sorry this is vague, it's a bit harder since it's not like based on Avengers or something. I work better world building with my partner. Do you have any ides.

Rei: What kind of abilities would the characters have. Not gonna lie, I always suck at coming up with original abilities. What if the characters weren't born with the abilities and were once a couple scatteted groups of science experiments that worked together and broke out to escape and their mad scientist -- maybe he or she is the main problem of the story, starts tracking them down and wants to create trouble. Maybe that way they're somehow linked, but still haven't met yet. It could make the whole playing multiple characters part easier. What's your thoughts on that?

Kat: I like that, bridging gaps. And like, what kind of animal trait would your character's tribe have, m/m or m/f, and which role would you prefer to play?

I can do any orientation, but I prefer m/m right now. I haven't decided what animal type to do. I could reuse old characters or create new ones depending on what works.

I'd rather not do the whole they were experimented on. It's not that hard to come up with abilities. Mostly cause you don't have to make anything up, just use already created powers. I tend to pull up a basic power list from wikipedia and pick the ones that sound cool to me. Also they all don't have to have powers. Just look at Batman or Iron Man. Heck even Green Arrow.

Kat: M/M is fine with me. I was thinking of doing a tiger type, but not sure if that'd be cliche or not. And how would the characteristics tie into the physical presentation of the characters? Do they have tails and animal ears? Or is it just their physical abilities that represents the animals?

Rei: That's perfectly okay with me. And I'll definitely pull up that list. So how would this work with doing various couples? Would it be something like:

Me: F, F, M

or

Rei: F, F, M
Me:: M, M, F

Either is fine with me, just what you would rather play.

I was using tail and ears and maybe a little more like stripes in the hair if you want or some mind of coloring. Nothing like full on anthro though. I might use a leopard or a fox character. Not sure which. Is there any other trope you think mixes in with my idea? I haven't been able to think.

Well the ritual seems like it'd be an unsure thing. Yes, it'd show them their soulmates, but what if we mixed in something like "where you don’t know your soulmate until you touch them" or "where you don'y know your soulmate until you hear them speak, or hear them speak a certain word; your name, for example" so that they can complete the soulmate connection physically? So the people being match has actual proof?

I like hearing them say your name. We can use that.

Well lucky for us most comic worlds are just based of the real world. We could just base it in the real world. Unless you wish to have something like based in a world like marvel?

Ya know, it's all up in the air. I don't feel like full modern, but I never got to use this plot past five posts before. My world be helluva not developed.

So maybe kinda in caves and huts?

That'd work for me. It can always be it's own world. I'm sure the kind of culture and living situation they have can reflect what kind of animal they are.

Have you ever seen Brother Bear 2? This kinda makes me think of it. I remember them living in huts, having hunters and food gatherers, and then the spirit lady/elder would live up in a cave on a cliff that over looked their village. Never written anything like that before, but I'm happy to give it a try. Can't promise anything great, though.
