Evy said nothing to him as she plopped down in the very back bench against the back wall of the bus. A few more people piled on before the bus went into motion. With the traffic, stops, and so forth, it would take a good half hour to get to their destination no doubt. Her stomach let out a loud growl, speaking for her, but she ignored it as well, turning her head to looking out the window at the passing city cars and taxi's. From the rate they were traveling, the people outside looked like busy bugs, an interesting distraction.
"Evy?" someone called. The owner of the voice caused Evy's body to go rigid as she turned her head and looked towards the man that had called out her name. A man with pale skin, short-cut black hair, large hazel eyes, and dressed like a businessman was smiling at her like a happy dog. If he had a tale, it'd be wagging madly right now with happiness. "Long time no see!" he said with a chuckle as he got up and walked over to a seat closer to her and Loki. He ignored the girl who was Loki and trained sparkling, excited eyes on Evy. "Haven't seen you at the bar for some time. The boys and I were getting worried that something happened to you." His tone was flirtatious and over-empowering with the idea of that the two once had something. Evy's face grew red as she tried to fake a small chuckle towards the man. "Yeah, I've been really busy with work," she lied. The man shook his head. "You should tell me where you work. The boys and I would come and surprise you some time." If there was a possibility of Evy's face being as red as possible, it was at that point. "Anyways, see you later." The man reached out and gently grazed her cheek with his finger, and old-time motion of friendship before he got up as the bus stopped. "I'm heading to work myself. I'd better see you at the club sometime this week!" He adjusted an expensive looking black backpack on his shoulder, got up, and headed off the bus. Her face still red, Evy turned her face and looked back out the window, refusing to say a word to Loki. |
Being the sucker for mischief that he was, this interaction between Evy and what appeared to be an old friend easily tickled his fancy. Yet, another thing he could use to tease Evy with. It was quite enjoyable for Loki to see her face turn a bright, beet red. His lips curled into another sly smile and he leaned closer to Evy.
"My, my, Agent. I can't say I've ever seen your face such a shade of crimson." He chuckled. "I'll make this easier for you." He tugged on her bag and slipped it across his lap to show Evy. "Who was that person? What are they to you?" Loki knew these were embarrassing questions to ask, but he couldn't help it. He always enjoyed being Asgard's little shit, why would he change his personality simply because he'd been banished to Earth?! Odin didn't say he couldn't have some fun here. He smirked at Evy. He didn't really care if she answered or not. After all, it wouldn't matter much to him if she starved herself over something silly like this. He wouldn't let her die, of course... But she didn't need to know that. He looked around the bus quickly for a moment, making sure that the passengers were preoccupied with their own lives, at least, preoccupied enough not to notice him and Evy. "This Midgardian food is most surprisingly... decent." He purposely dug through her bag, not really looking for anything in particular, just digging enough to get some kind of reaction from Evy. Loki was used to people being pissed off at him, after all, he'd annoyed many of Thor's friends back on Asgard. Being with Evy gave him a sense of familiarity that was quite welcomed. Still, he secretly missed Asgard. If anything, he missed seeing Frigga, the blue skies, his chambers, filled with books and spells, the majestic horses... He didn't want to think about it, really... Midgard wasn't awful but he did NOT want to spend the rest of his life on this realm. |
Watching Loki dig through her bag made her skin crawl as her arms crossed over her stomach and her hands fisted the side of her shirt to keep her emotion sin somewhat of a type of control. A first she tried to ignore him, but hearing him rummage through her things made her turned her head to glare at Loki. Why was he so eager to get a rise out of her? She was helping him out after all, if it weren't for her, he'd have been still as lost as he seemed at Stark Tower.
"Drinking buddy," she told him. "Met him about a year ago when I started going to a local bar after work on a regular basis. One night stands had eventually ensued," she said slowly, her voice low, nodding her head once as she looked away from him, "but never anything more. Friends with benefits, I guess, but more like acquaintance with benefits, if we're being brutally honest here." She looked back at him, huffing a huge sigh as if a weight had been left off of her shoulder, as if just for one moment, she didn't mind telling Loki these sort of things. She ripped her bag from his grip, her jaw visibly tight and her eyes glaring up at him, never blinking or looking away until she had a poptart packet in her hand. She ripped it open, looking away from him as she quickly bit into the strawberry poptart before the bastard could take her food from her. It was still odd seeing Loki in a female form, so feeling uncomfortable and just completely, endlessly pissed at him, she slid away from him and closer to the window, a loud "hmph" leaving her throat. |
It was too much fun seeing Evy look so mad. As Loki watched Evy slide away, he only smirked and stayed planted in his seat. He'd get Evy on his side, one way or another. He took to looking around the bus, watching as people joined and left.
The Midgardians looked very different. Each having unique facial features, skin tone, hair texture, eye color. Quite unlike Asgard which mostly had golden inhabitants. It was interesting to Loki, watching everyone flow in and out of the bus. After a few moments of people-watching, he grew bored. He wanted to tease Evy a little more, but it wasn't much fun when he didn't get a reaction from her. Besides, he didn't want her to go back on the plan. He trusted she knew better than to betray him. He'd certainly make her life a living hell should she do that. He was beginning to grow a little antsy. While, Loki had the patience of an owl, he was itching to do something! He wiggled in his seat. Odin was an ass. Yeah, let's send Loki to Midgard, he has no scepter so he is no threat. That was only partially true. Loki didn't have the powers like Thor, to control thunder, lightening, didn't have the strength as Thor does, that's not to say Loki was weak. Loki was stronger than any Midgardian. Still, he did feel pretty useless without the scepter. He felt like a big bully pushing around one tiny kid on the playground instead of being the big, bad teacher who controlled the class. Loki wiggled again, still feeling really anxious to do some damage. He'd prove that what he lacked in strength, he'd make up for in smarts. He'd prove that to everyone... But more importantly to himself. Evy would be that tool. Speaking of Evy, he turned his head to look in her direction and chuckled. Soon, hopefully sooner than later, they'd be approaching SHIELD research facility and then Loki could find the scepter. He'd keep his promise to Evy, no killing, no injuring people for the heck of it. Loki didn't like to consider himself a sadist, but it did make him feel better about himself to put others in pain. He turned his head away from Evy to stare at his lap, his smile dissipated from his face as his mind began to race again. He wasn't even thinking about the plan, just contemplating how, or rather why Odin would banish him to earth. He thought, perhaps Odin did it for Thor because he knew Thor would return. Maybe. But Loki did not have Thor's powers. Loki had no chance of returning. Loki was worth nothing to Asgard, it didn't matter how clever his plan was to protect Asgard... To kill the entire race of Jotuns, to defeat Asgard's greatest enemy! No one cared. Loki grit his teeth a little as he allowed the thoughts to leave his mind just as quickly as they'd appeared. Maybe the short break from communication with Evy was good. Gave him time to think and get these angry thoughts from his mind before going into the plan. |
