"Thanks." Bruce said, heading for the door.
Rosemary sighed. "Damian, don't make things worse. The principal will probably go easy because it's your first day, and you were defending me. But if you refuse to go see him, you'll only get in worse trouble and the other boy will get a free pass." |
"He won't I'll just beat him up again." Damien chuckled. "I'm bored of this school anyways something like that would be entertaining."
|
Rosemary sniffled, wiping her eyes. "But they'll make you leave...and I just got to meet you..." She said tearfully.
"You won't have to worry about that, Rose. Damian isn't leaving school yet." Bruce said from the doorway. He walked in and stood in front of the children. "Damian, we will discuss what you did later. Right now, you need to understand that as long as you are living with me, you will obey the rules. If you don't behave, I will refuse to teach you about the family business." He said calmly. |
"I'll just go back to grandfather. I don't need to listen to this weiner." Damien set him jaw looking like he did when he was stubborn. "Or you."
|
Bruce sighed quietly. "Very well, if that's what you want." He said, ignoring a distressed gasp from Rosemary. "Come on. Just make sure to tell your mother that we tried. You're the one who didn't want to make it work." He added, motioning for Damian to get up. He clearly meant to bring the boy back to his mother and grandfather right away.
Rosemary sniffled. "But...but that's not fair! You can't be mad at Damian, because he didn't know he was doing something wrong! It's not his fault that no one taught him the rules! Uncle Bruce, you're his dad! You should try harder to teach him!" She protested, becoming angrier as she spoke. She found herself standing between Bruce and Damian, as if protecting her friend. |
Damien's face crumpled a little then hardened. "I don't need him Rose. He'll just get in the way plus grandfather is way better then him he'll let me do what I was trained to do and kill that boy." he glared at the boy in question. "That's right these adults have it wrong." he huffed revealing the depths that Ra's had drilled his training into the boy.
|
"No! It's not fair! And it's not right to just kill people. Damian, you have to stay. You could learn so much, and uncle Bruce could learn a lot from you, too! You guys are giving up too easy! Do you...do you know how much I'd give to find my dad? If I could meet him and learn from him...and you have that chance. You both need to accept that maybe there are other ways of thinking." Rosemary said tearfully.
Bruce didn't speak for a moment, processing what had been said. He couldn't let Damian grow up to be like his grandfather. And Rosemary was right that they had an opportunity most didn't get. "I am perfectly willing to keep trying. Believe it or not, I actually want you around, Damian. But you have to be willing to follow the rules. Both of us have to work at it. And I suppose I could stand to be a little more flexible." He admitted. |
"Do I have to listen to this Weiner?" Damien asked with a sigh. "It's weird if that boy had hurt Roses honor when I was with grandfather I would have been able to punch him again for being a tattletale. Instead I get to be lecture by the girl I stood up for and a man who's the exact opposite of me."
|
Rosemary finally crumbled to the floor in tears. "I j-just wanted t-to h-help...cause I d-dont like when p-people fight..." She sobbed.
Bruce winced, at a loss for what to do in the face of a crying female. "Rose, no one's blaming you for anything..." |
Damien patted her head. "Cheer up roses shouldn't wilter." He smiled. "I'll go see this principal only if you smile."
|
Wanting all the trouble to be over, Rose looked up and smiled through her tears. "A-all happy, see?"
Bruce watched, hiding his surprise. It was starting to look like the two would be good for each other. |
Damien smiled and shook his head. "Just feel better." He slipped off to the principal not bothering to wait for Bruce. "Oh and Jason's in trouble." He nodded to the courtyard where a group of children was gathered.
|
Bruce sighed again. He guessed he would be sighing a lot from now on. Casting Rose an apologetic glance, he followed after Damian. He knew that Jason could handle himself, so he didn't bother.
Hearing that Jason was in trouble, Rosemary wiped her eyes and ran over to where he was, elbowing her way through the crowd. |
Jason was facing down a older boy a wild grin on his face. The older boy was bleeding and bruised while Jason hadn't even broken a sweat.
Damien zoned out as the principal brattled on eyes glazing over as his mind wondered. "Are you listening?" The principal frowned. "If you made it interesting I might." Damien was even going to hide the fact. "Nice wig by the way." The principal blushed and glared at Bruce. |
Bruce cleared his throat, trying not to smirk. "That's rude, Damian. However, you're right that this is taking longer than it needs to. Principal, I will talk to Damian more at home. But for now it seems as though my son was only defending a girl, which was the right thing to do. If that's all, I really should be going." He said firmly.
Rosemary sighed, rolling her eyes. This was nothing new, though she still didn't like it. "Jasey, it's time to stop. You won. Besides, Damian is already in trouble, we don't need you going next." She interrupted the fight with a sweet voice. |
Damien stood and smirked as he walked out. "Well that was fun." He snorted than grinned at the boy he had punched. The smile suggested something bad would happen to the boy but the smile vanished when his father emerged.
Jason glanced at her and grinned. "Be done in a sec." As the boy swung Jason dodged then tripped him sending him crashing to the ground. When he didn't get up Jason headed over to her "so Damien got in trouble huh? For what?" |
Bruce gave Damian a warning look. He had a strong feeling he knew what had been happening before he showed up. "I'm going now. Try not to make them call me again." He said.
Rosemary sighed. "You're so violent...Damian got in trouble for punching a boy, because the boy was being mean to me." She said, then went on to recount everything that had happened. |
"I'm with Damien...kind of wish he had stabbed him." Jason gave her a hug. "No one makes fun of my motto sis and gets away with it."
Damien watched him go then leaned towards the boy. "Sleep with your eyes open tattletale." He walked off smirking. |
Rosemary hugged him back. "You shouldn't say that kind of thing. You'll get in trouble." She gently scolded him, ever the little mother.
|
"According to Lori my middle name is gets into trouble alot." Jason chuckled. "I'll be fine all I have to do is act like a orphane who was raised on the street and they feel bad enough to let most things slid." He smirked then blinked as the warning bells rang. "Off to class."
|
Rosemary sniffled and then sighed. "Okay, okay...I'll see you after school." She said, giving him one more hug before running off to class.
|
Lori was out shopping for Jason wondering what size Damien was. She had made sure to leave a note for Bruce that way he wouldn't panic.
|
Bruce walked into the mansion to find Lori gone. Luckily, he found her note, so he relaxed a bit.
Gemini, meanwhile, was also busy shopping. But she was shopping for much needed groceries. Being a single mother who works as a waitress didn't put a lot of food on the table, but she managed. |
Spotting Gemini Lori waved like crazy only stopping when she reached her friend. "Good think I meet you. We need to go bride gown shopping tomorrow. Sound good?" Lori hugged her friend tight.
|
Gemini hugged her back just as tightly. "Sounds great! I'll swing by after the kids are off to school." She said. "Oh, I got the sketches done for possible cakes. I don't have them with me, but I'll send them home with Jason."
