Bruce clenched his fists. "Damian knows you're here?" He asked.
Rosemary quickly away a tear that tried to run down her cheek. "We'll figure it out. We'll have to. It's too late now, we're going to have a baby whether you want them or not." |
"He does know." Ra's smirked he calmly sat at the table.
"Don't get me wrong I'm happy I am but this child will never have a normal life with him around. How could anybody give me a child?" Damien took a breath. "I'm not father material." |
"Fine then." Bruce looked at Martha and Lori. "You can both go, if you want to." He didn't want Martha around this man, and he didn't like the idea of Ra's and Lori in the same room together.
Rosemary sniffled. "That's not true, Damian. The fact that you care already makes you a great father." She said. "And...look at it this way. You actually want this baby, so you're already a better father than I had." |
"Come on Martha we'll go do some shopping." Lori took her daughters hand and lead her out of the room. Leaving the two of them to stare at each other.
Damien smiled a little and pulled into the garage blinking when he saw Lori and Martha heading for her car. "Your grandfather is here." Lori growled getting into her car. "Of course he is." Damien sighed and got out of the car heading for the kitchen. |
Rosemary slapped her forehead. "Naturally. You told him to come himself, so he shows up at our house." She sighed and followed Damian inside, refusing to leave his side.
Bruce sat there, tense, as he and Ra's had what amounted to a staring contest. |
"Um...I feel like I just walked into a noon time show down." Damien joked trying to ease the tension a little. "Ah Damien and Rosemary." Ra's stood and approached them. "I hear congratulations are in order. Seems I'm going to be a great grandfather. I'm far to old for this." he chuckled lightly. "We've been over this." Damien growled glaring at him. Ra's scowled and glanced at Bruce and Rose. "May we speak alone."
|
Bruce stood. "I'll be in the living room, Damian. If you need anything, just give a shout." He said, before leaving the kitchen.
Rosemary took hold of Damian's hand and lifted her chin stubbornly. "There is nothing you need to say that you can't say in front of me. I am not leaving." |
Damien let go of her hand. "This conversation is just going to be an argument." he closed the door letting her stay. The two of them talked about his responsibilities, it quickly escalated to yelling. Finally Damien slammed his fist down on the table. "Get out of my home and never darken Gotham with your presence again." Ra's stood "we are not done with this." he stormed off. Damien growled and kicked a chair over breathing hard.
|
Naturally, Rosemary had a few choice words herself during the argument- not that it mattered, as neither man listened to her. Once Ra's was gone, she quietly picked up the kicked chair and then hugged Damian. "We'll get through this. I promise."
|
Damien hugged her back tightly. "i'm so sorry Rose." he was crying silently into her shoulder.
Lori came back with Martha. They both had gotten there hair and makeup on. They both where carrying bags of stuff. |
Rosemary held him close, her heart breaking for him. "Don't you apologize, Damian. This is not your fault." She told him firmly. "Everything is going to be fine."
Bruce looked up when Lori and Martha entered, his expression dark. Of course he had heard the entire exchange, and he wasn't happy about it. "Where did you two get off to?" He asked, trying to cheer his expression. |
"The mall and we stopped to get fresher up." Lori put the bags down. "I see it didn't go well."
Damien wanted to believe her but it was hard to when he knew what his grandfather was like. |
Bruce nodded. "You just missed a huge fight. It was...exactly what you'd expect it to be about." He said. "This is a problem. Ra's isn't going to let this go. As long as Rosemary is pregnant, she's in danger. And once the baby is born, they'll be in danger." He ran a hand through his hair. "I can't let this happen to them. I can't let them go through all the trouble we went through."
After a few moments, Rosemary snorted with barely concealed laughter. "Sorry, it's not funny, I just..." She giggled. "He's like a fairy tale villain. 'I'll let you go if you promise me your firstborn child.'" She lowered her voice in a mockery of a bad guy. "I feel like we just have to steal his golden goose or pour water on him and he'll melt or something." |
"they only thing that can kill him is to get him while he's away from the Lazer pit." Damien shook his head. "and he had a bunch of them everywhere. My grandfather will not vanish like those villains." he sighed. "I wish."
"What do you want to do?" Lori frowned at him. |
Rosemary sighed, the laughter gone from her voice. "Yeah...so do I." She said.
Bruce shook his head. "I don't know. I feel guilty about it, but I wish he was dead." He sighed. "But that'll never happen. It's nearly impossible to get him away from a Lazarus pit." |
"Well I'm not killing Ra's he terrifies me." Lori shuddered. "More then Joker ever could plus I'm to old to be planning death." she took his hand. "We'll support them as best as we can."
Damien let go and sighed running a hand threw his hair. "Maybe I should just give in. At least with me in charge the league will be a little less evil." |
Bruce nodded. "No, I'm certainly not planning on killing him- and neither should anyone else. He's far too dangerous." He agreed. "Supporting them is all we can do, I suppose."
Rosemary felt like she might be sick hearing that. "No. No, not as long as your grandfather is still alive. He'll keep control through you. Besides, you're needed here." |
"Yes it is because if you ever become batman again." Lori let the threat hang in the air then gentle took his hand. "If you must then you will but you don't need to." she glanced at the kitchen. "Gotham is safe with Damien."
"I know." Damien ran a hand threw his hair. "Maybe he'll give up and grow old if I'm in charge." his voice lacked any conviction. |
Bruce looked at her. "Lori, you don't have to threaten me. I'm definitely too old to put that suit back on ever again. And honestly I don't want to." He said.
"It'll never happen. He's too stubborn, too controlling." Rosemary said. "We'll just have to find ways around him like we always have." |
"With the baby it will be a thousand times harder." Damien groaned and hit his head against the wall repeatedly.
"I know." Lori grinned. "plus your terrified of me." she teased running a hand over his chest. "At least your still muscled and sexy." |
Rosemary gently pulled him away from the wall. "Hey, none of that. I need you alive and well for this baby. No brain damage." She said.
Bruce grinned. "Thanks for noticing, I try to stay fit." He said. |
"My head is to hard to let me get brain damage." Damien joked but stopped leaning his head against her shoulder.
"Are you still as strong though?" Lori grinned feeling his arm muscles. "Feels like it." |
Rosemary kissed his cheek. "Don't worry, love. We're used to dealing with difficult relatives. We'll get through this together, just like we always do."
"I'd like to think my strength has stood the test of time." Bruce pretended to brag. ((Baby skip, or do you have more plans with Ra's?)) |
((Baby skip it is.))
Damien was a mess to say the least. Without Lori and his father he wouldn't have made it to Rose's ninth months. He was currently sitting down in the cave with Martha going over there latest case. Lori meanwhile was upstairs cleaning up. |
Surprisingly, Rosemary had gone through a very mild pregnancy, with no mood swings, barely any pain, and very tame cravings. The doctor said she and the baby were both perfectly healthy. Though she had a bit of trouble getting around recently, she wasn't bedridden at all and did her best to help Damian and Martha from home. She was on her way down to the cave, huffing a little as she got to the bottom of the stairs. She steadied herself and shuffled over to Damian. "Hello, love. Any progress?"
