"Lucky? Or unlucky." Bruce shook his head. "Tony, look at this. I knew I recognized some of those sequences." He had the girls' DNA pulled up and was searching through the known database. So far he'd had a few partial hits from a Royal family, and the search wasn't even done yet.
Tony went over and looked over Bruce's shoulder.
"Wait a second, their DNA sequences match some of Thor's?" he asked. "That can't be right." |
"It looks like they share a parent," Bruce said, pointing out the similarities between them and Thor, and Odin. "If I had to guess, it was Odin."
"I'd bet my first chemistry set that they have no idea," Tony said. "None of them. They'd have never been left on Earth otherwise."
"No. Odin would never have left children of his on Earth." Bruce paused for a moment. "Although, he may not be happy to have two new children, Tony." He spoke slowly, cautiously, because he knew Odin's temper.
"No kidding," Tony murmured. "Can't imagine this'll go over well with any of the royals..."
"We tell Thor first," Bruce decided after a moment. "He's the most likely to accept them. Or at least not kill them outright."
Tony nodded.
"Good plan," he said. "Ugh, can you imagine what his brother'll do? Guy has a hard time even thinking about being adopted." |
"I'd rather not think of how Loki will react," Bruce said dryly. Honestly, most days, thinking of Loki made him want to hit something.
"No kidding," Tony said. He smirked. "So, should we let CatDog out there deal with the new princesses?"
Bruce sighed at the nickname. "May as well," he said. "Go let them know what we found, I'll contact Thor. It should take him a day or two to get here, so they'll have that long to adjust."
Tony smirked, very nearly cackling, and grabbed the sheet with the DNA results. He took it and went to go show Steve and Bucky what they'd found.
Steve looked wary when he saw Tony. Tony only ever looked that gleeful when he had News.
"What is it this time?" he asked. |
"You guys are going to love this one," Tony said, grinning widely. "Test results are in."
"Well, don't leave us hanging," Bucky said. "What is it?" |
Tony held the sheet out with a shit-eating grin. "Thor's got some half-sisters, apparently."
Steve stared at him for a moment. "No way. No goddamn way." |
"Yup," Tony replied, still smirking. "Ran the tests three times, got the exact same results. Royals, both of them, and their DNA flags as a partial match to Thor."
"How the hell...?" Bucky said, looking from Steve to Tony. |
"Odin," Steve realized, blinking. Because it wasn't exactly a secret that the current head of the family didn't mind the occasional one-time bedpartner. "Who are you telling first?"
"Thor, of course," Tony said with a shrug. "He'll meet up with us sometime soon, get a look at them, all that." |
"Good idea," Bucky replied, thinking. "Thor's the least likely to have them executed on the spot."
"That's what we figured," Tony agreed. "So we'll tell Thor, let him decide what to do from there."
Steve nodded. That made sense, it was a pretty good plan. |
"So!" Tony added, grinning widely. "I leave it to you two capable men to explain things to our lovely new royals when they wake up." With that, he left again to go back into the lab with Bruce.
Steve growled after him but then sighed.
"Well. Why do we always get the complicated ones?" He almost pouted. |
"Hell if I know," Bucky responded. "I mean, honestly, royals? What's goin' on with this planet that so many royals pop out of it? First that Abrasax Recurrence, now them?"
"We're not coming back here," Steve decided. "Someone else can deal with this, we can make Clint and Natasha deal with any other occurrences on this planet."
"They can definitely have it, I'm done with this weirdo planet," Bucky agreed, nodding.
Steve looked over when he saw the first girl stirring. "Alright, guess now we have to figure out what to tell them."
