Cameron sighed.
"Come on," she said, nudging him. "I've got a tea that will help, and then you should rest. You'll feel better for it." |
"Tea?" Tony sounded outraged, but only about half of his normal level. "Tea is not good. Coffee. Coffee is far superior."
"Coffee won't make your headache better," Cameron pointed out. "The tea is quicker than popping painkillers, too."
Tony sighed. "You are almost as bad as Pepper," he grumbled. "But more reasonable and not as tall."
Cameron snickered.
"I'm allowed to be reasonable," she said. "I have the same power as you. I know how to help you handle it." |
Tony made faces but finally sank down into a chair.
"Fine, fine," he grumbled. "Just don't go gloating about this." |
"Wouldn't dream of it," Cameron said. "Go ahead and get comfortable. I'll bring you something for the migraine."
Tony sighed but slouched back into the chair, relaxing slowly as much as he could. Which, considering this is Tony, was a pretty amazing thing.
Cameron came back out a few minutes later, a mug of tea in her hands and a tablet floating alongside her.
"Here," she said, handing him the mug. "Headache tea isn't the tastiest thing in the world, so I made it sweet for you." The tablet set itself down on the arm of the chair, within reach. |
Tony took the tea, took a sip, made a face, and put it down for now. An then he pounced on the tablet.
"You're definitely better than Pepper, she doesn't even usually give me a tablet." |
Cameron snorted.
"I know you better than that," she said, grinning a bit. "You'd just find something to tinker with on your own." |
"Well, yeah," Tony said, blinking at her, because that was so obvious everyone should know it. "This is how Things Happen, we learned this."
Cameron just grinned and sat down on the couch.
"I figure this will keep you in one spot long enough to actually rest," she said. "If we're lucky, you'll even fall asleep." |
"Don't hold your breath," Tony said with a bit of a grin. "That takes a while." But he was definitely settling in there, getting comfortable.
"The tea will help," Cameron pointed out with a bit of a grin. "Anyways, just settle in and relax."
"Yeah, yeah." Tony flapped his hands a bit but took another sip of tea and started playing with the tablet. He wasn't even taking anything apart, this time.
Cameron settled in as well, taking a small bag of foam balls out of the drawer of a side table and just playing with them with her power. It was good practice, and besides, it was fun to occasionally bounce one off of Tony's forehead.
Tony just batted it away (with his hand) every time, because he was quickly absorbed in some new articles that he hadn't had a chance to read yet. But he didn't actually complain about her bouncing balls off his forehead.
Cameron grinned and kept doing it. It was amusing, and she'd noticed how he wasn't actively complaining.
"Anything good?" she commented, looking at the tablet too, albeit upside-down. |
"A new article on gamma radiation that isn't by Bruce," Tony said. "I might have to hire this person."
"What?" Cameron asked, blinking. "Interesting. I thought Bruce was the foremost authority? Who's the interloper?"
"Oh he's still the authority, this is a new person, doing some new research mixed with Bruce's old stuff," Tony said, waving his hand. "She's got a good idea, here. It's something Bruce and I have tossed around before, but, she actually got it published and recorded and all that, which we haven't."
"Interesting," Cameron said, sitting on the arm of the chair so she could look over his shoulder.
"I could always throw some money at her and see what else she comes up with," Tony said speculatively. "Or just introduce her to Bruce, that would be entertaining."
Cameron raised an eyebrow.
"You're willing to share Bruce?" she asked. "That's not like you. You sure you're feeling alright?" |
