Logan be careful, Sabine told him, looking around again. These people are prepared for mutants.
|
That made Logan growl.
Nobody's prepared for me, he replied. |
Sabine froze when she heard people out in the hallway.
They know I'm awake, I have to go, I'm sorry. As quickly as she could manage, she cut off the link between them. |
"Sabine!" Logan growled and swore under his breath before pounding on Charles's door. They had to find Sabine, and they had to find her now.
|
Charles was already up. He'd heard, as it was, the commotion earlier.
"Hello Logan," he greeted, already in his wheelchair. "I heard a little of what's happened. Is she still talking to you?" |
"No," Logan growled. "Said someone was coming and went silent."
|
Charles frowned but nodded. "Very well. I will see if I can find her." He did make a mental note, as he headed down to Cerebro, to send someone reasonable with Logan once he found Sabine.
|
Logan nodded and followed Charles down to Cerebro. He wasn't about to just let things lie, not at all. And as soon as Charles found Sabine, he was going to be gone, come hell or high water.
|
Charles knew by now that Logan would behave, so he let him in to Cerebro.
"She's more difficult to find than I expected," he murmured after several moments of silence. "They must be--ah, there." His eyes opened again. "Found her." |
"Where is she?" Logan asked. He was fidgeting because there wasn't enough room to pace. He was already mentally deciding which car he was going to take from the garage, and god help anyone who tried to stop him.
|
Charles glanced at him, sighed a little, but smiled a little too. "Not far from here, actually. A very old house next state over. I'll put it on a map for you."
|
Logan nodded and turned to leave the Cerebro room. He wasn't going to waste any time; he needed to find Sabine now.
|
Charles did wake up Ororo to go with Logan, just in case. So she was dressed and waiting in a car out front by the time Logan had the map.
|
Logan barely glanced at Ororo as he got into the car.
"I don't need a babysitter, I can handle things," he grumbled as he started the engine. |
"Of course you can," Ororo agreed with a placid smile. "I'm just along for the ride. And to drive on the way back when you won't want to let Sabine out of your sight."
|
Logan just growled and hit the gas. He needed to get to Sabine.
|
Ororo took the map and looked it over before she started navigating for him. It wasn't more than a couple hours before they arrived.
"We're here," she murmured. "Try not to kill everyone, alright?" |
"No promises," Logan snarled as he got out of the car. He walked straight for the front entrance, unsheathing his claws as he went.
|
The people inside were scrambling. They weren't prepared for someone like Wolverine. Half of the staff focused on getting the experiments packed away and ready for transport, while the other half set up road blocks and waited with stun guns and batons and whatever weapons they could get their hands on.
|
With a snarl, Wolverine started tearing through the compound. The place was filled with a dizzying array of scents and sounds, but he managed across the one scent he would know anywhere.
"Sabine!" he roared. |
Sabine was fighting being put into a containment unit, and she heard Logan. Everyone around her did too, judging from the moment of panicked stillness. Sabine took advantage and threw herself out of the unit and out of the way.
"Logan! This way!" she yelled, skittering away when someone tried to grab her. |
Logan snarled and barreled his way towards where he'd heard Sabine. At this point, he didn't care how many people he cut through, as long as he got to her.
|
Sabine could see him, and she was so ready to leave.
Which of course is when one of the slightly smarter goons grabbed her and put a gun to her temple. |
Logan growled loudly.
"You do that, Bub, and you won't live to regret it," he snarled. |
The goon grinned. "I won't live either way," he said.
Sabine elbowed him in the gut, taking advantage of his temporary shock to drop like a brick so he stumbled and let go of her. |
