"No." Sabine dug her heels in, prepared to be stubborn for as long as necessary about this. Her control was starting to slip a bit, although only enough to give the idea of Pissed Off and Stubborn.
Tony didn't immediately notice.
"Why are you being so amazingly stubborn?" he asked. "Stop that, that's my job." |
"It's my job too, Pepper loves me for it for wrangling you," Sabine told him, frowning. "Stop arguing with me and go away. You've got other people to bother."
"Yeah, and Cam's one of them," Tony said. He huffed. "Fine. Tell me as soon as she gets back."
Sabine nodded, though she didn't promise anything. She was working on regaining her control now.
Tony huffed again and stalked off, leaving her to get herself back under control.
Sabine glowered a bit after him, and then sighed and started rubbing her temples. That had been rougher than she'd thought.
Later on that evening, Cameron texted Sabine.
So my parents took the news well. For the most part, anyways. |
Good, Sabine texted back. That's excellent. Feeling a bit better now that they know?
Yeah, I do. Granted, I didn't tell them whose it is, but they still took it alright. There was a pause. Mom is over the moon, she always wanted grandkids. She's already babbling about going shopping.
Oh god, of course she is. Hey, that's good though, help you get the things you'll need. Plus, babysitter, yay. Sabine grinned a bit. Apart from me, but we all know I'm going to be the best aunt ever.
Cameron grinned.
I will have a never-ending rotation of babysitters. And of course you're going be the best auntie, you've got the most experience Stark-wrangling and it'll be one more Stark to wrangle. |
Sabine snorted at that. This Stark is going to have better manners or I'm going to give up on everything and go live in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.
Logan would probably appreciate that, Cameron teased. Living in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Think of everything the two of you could get up to.
I could watch him chop so much firewood, Sabine agreed with a grin. I don't think Pepper would let me do that forever, though.
No, probably not, Cameron agreed. Though you can make a vacation out of it, I bet.
I just did not long ago, Sabine agreed. Although depending on how pushy people get, I may need to take another one before the year is out. She made a face at that.
So do it, Cameron said. It's not like you don't have the time to use, you've got like a month saved up.
I'd rather wait until I need to use it, Sabine admitted. In case I need it later.
You'll earn more, Cameron pointed out. And Pepper will let you take off if you absolutely need to, anyways. She grinned. When the baby is born, for example. Because guarantee I want you there.
Sabine snorted quietly. As if I'd miss that, she teased. I dunno. We'll see. I'm trying to actually get used to this and settle, not just run away when things get hard.
Well, you're in the best place for it, Cameron replied. No better place to get used to a new ability than the mansion.
I know, Sabine agreed. Should be interesting, though, to see how I do long-term.
I'm sure you'll be fine, Cameron assured. Jean and the professor will help you.
I know they will, but still. It's still weird.
Sabine briefly made a face. So what now for you? |
