paranormal/supernatural - yes, no?
Seems like every so often I run into someone who believes in ghosts, or visions, or astrology, or seers, or auras, or chi. I've never seen anything, personally, but I have met so many other people (who otherwise seemed very logical/practical/sane) who have their own stories of supernatural/spiritual/paranormal encounters.
Where on the spectrum from skeptic to believer do y'all fall? Anyone ever encounter something they couldn't explain by normal means? (As an aside -- this isn't meant to be a ghost/horror story thread. Just because I don't believe in them doesn't mean I can't get nightmares, right?) |

I'm a believer, we happen to have a gost cat in our house.
|
I'm a Bible reading Jesus preaching Christian. (no, not one of those political zombies) soooooo I can't believe in god, Satan, angels, demons ,heaven&hell&then denie the supernatural world. P. S. I have crossed swords w several spirits, oh. &ghost cats r common.
|
yep i believe in God as well
|
Ever had god audibly speak to you?
I did once. It's totally cool. |
I'm just in the category of praying that what my cat stares at is just UV light... [lol]

as a rational, scientifically thinking, young gentleman, I'm not sure exactly how sceptical I am about the supernatural/paranormal. but I have had many an experience to which no rational explanation could go even halfway towards solving the mysterious event that unfolded. while not the scariest or funniest, this story is by far the strangest.
many moon's ago, a friend and I were coming home from a night on the tiles by bus. busy laughing (to ourselves) about the strange fiddle music coming from the driver's booth, we were flabbergasted when the music followed a tall trench coat and trilby hat wearing gentleman as he departed the bus. thinking nothing too untoward about it (we had just been out for a night of drinking and dancing after all) we continued our journey for another three or four stops. as the bus left us, we could hear the music once again comming from the bus, and began to walk home confused but totally unfazed by our joint audio-lusion. until the music began to emanate from the sewer drain infront of us. now there was no more denying that there was 'something strange in our neighbourhood.' we stood there, for a long while, looking down the drain as the eerie fiddle music wafted out inplace of the foul stench of raw sewage, and, as we looked up, the tall man in the trench coat and trilby was standing right in front of us, as if he'd appeared out of nowhere. he nodded, tipped the brim of his hat, and walked off, taking the music with him. now, I'm not saying he was a ghost, or that there was anything supernatural going on that night, but it was the first time ever that my friend beat me in a race. |
The music man. Sounds like it would make for a great short storry. And possibly a good short film.

That would be a good story someone write that owo

I don't usually give ghosts and supernatural events much thought....but there was a time while we were living homeless in a small motorhome, squatting on a friend's property....we had our cat living with us....
One night, we walked down to our friend's house....and I remember the BF making sure that the door was securely latched....but, when we returned to the motorhome, the door was swinging wide open! I immediately assumed that the cat had escaped through the open door...as she was always making attempts to get out....but, NO! The cat was sitting on the bed with HUGE eyes on the doorway!....like something or someone had come and frightened the curiosity right out of her! We relayed the event to our friend and he came out and smudged sage inside and outside of the motorhome, and we never had any more "unusual" events occur after that! The friend had sage all over his house, so I assumed that a wandering spirit was looking for an un-saged place to take up residence.... We had 3 people and a cat living in that tiny box....no room for uninvited "guests!" Lol! |
I have had strange things happen to me, and I do believe in the supernatural. But that doesn't mean I believe every ghost story on TV or vampires or whatnot, what I mean is that I am open to the possibility that entities exist.
If a close friend of mine swore they saw a ghost, I would believe them because I trust them to not lie and I think it is possible that such things exist. Am I making sense? XD |
...Makes sense to me!
|
Haha, yay!
It's so weird because I honestly love scary stories and hearing them, but at the same time, I get scared. I have yet to see a scary movie because of this. Every time I hear a scary story or see a scary show, I get really paranoid. I'm afraid to walk down my dark hallway, I'm afraid to be alone in the dark, I get scared by every little noise at night, etc. It lasts about 2 weeks before I get it together. Kinda embarassing..XD |

that cat tale (pun intended) reminds me of my cat when she stares at nothing for an intense amount of moments. freaky, though I always ask her if she's seeing ghosts. lol, one of these days she'll answer back, and I'll have another paranormal tail to tell |
For the most part, I'm a bit on the skeptical side when it comes to ghosts and things. I've had a picture frame pick up and slam to the floor before. My mom said that when I was severely injured and was in the emergency room, I was talking to my dad as if he were standing at the foot of my bed. He had died just under a year before. My brother used to see the ghost of a man,who would tell him to kill his twin, our sister. My mom would have to watch him at night, because one night, he was sleep walking and went to the gun rack and got a gun down and stood at my sister's bedroom door.
My husband believes in jinn. I don't know if you've heard of them. He says he sees them all the time. They give him advice and irritate him when he's doing things he shouldn't. My husband also said he was saved by an Angel before. He was on a road on the side of a mountain in Colorado when his car lost control and stopped with the car almost over the edge. He said it stopped suddenly as if something had blocked it from going over the edge. So, I have a lot of people around me who have seen ghosts or had experiences, but I have not experienced anything yo make me a real believer. |

I can at least explain the injury one. You were talking as if you saw him while in the emergency room. Odds are you were on some medication for the duration of that stay? When someone is in pain usually a pain killer of sorts is prescribed for the duration of the stay. Some medications have a chance of causing a hallucination effect. |
I'm sure I was on something. I had half my foot cut off. My mom says she sees my dad all the time. I don't remember the incident she talks about of me seeing him, but I was only 4-years-old and don't remember anything from that young.

yes i believe in things such as the supernatural. if theres good out there then theres evil. just because someone hasn't physically seen or witnessed an event doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
