Order of Otaku - An Anime and Manga Hangout
Welcome to the Order of Otaku! Because let's face it, what's a big nerd con without a few crazy Otaku running around? Slap on your cat ears, grab your waifu hug pillow and let's chit chat about our obsession! A new season of anime just got rolling and there's all sorts of new things to pick through. Even when the season feels kinda crappy I still find myself watching a handful of shows. Currently, I'm in love with Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, but I'm watching other things like Durarara and Overlord and Aoharu x Machinegun. If you're curious about what I watch or have watched or what I've read or have read, you can poke my Anime List and my Manga list. Let's talk about the stuff that makes me super nerdy! [eager] If you don't watch anime, but you're curious, I will be full of recommendations and other stuff. I just want to blab about one of the things I love. [squee] |

I love anime and manga. I'm pretty big on Sailor Moon, lol. Although, I prefer manga to anime, because I love reading. :3 |
I don't care either way, but I'm incredibly behind on all the new stuff.
Hi guys. :D
I like both, but I tend to watch more anime, because it's there and it's easier. But then again, if the pace is too slow and I'm really into it, I'll go find the manga and plow through it very quickly. The problem with that is that you overtake the pace of the anime and you're constantly left waiting for the next chapter to come out! [gonk] I really want to find the Akagami no Shirayuki-hime manga, but so far I'm holding back. There's a few other manga I haven't finished yet, like Tokyo Ghoul, that I really should get out of the way before I take more on my plate. But who am I kidding, my plate is full of unfinished anime and manga! |

Companies doing simulcasts have really picked up in the last few years. They realized that if they don't sub it a few hours after it's released in Japan, someone will fansub it and those potential profits just dissipate. Even with the simulcasting, people still rip the official subs and put them on pirate streaming sites. Both Funimation and Crunchyroll will have theirs up just a short while after it's aired in Japan.
There are a few paywalls. Like you have to wait a week before seeing the latest episode unless you have a Crunchyroll subscription. I think Funi does something similar, but they also have some of the series up on Hulu right away. You can watch about 80% of new current anime on legal streaming sites, plus they have a huge back catalogue of things to watch. I think last season I only had one show they didn't pick up and I had to watch by alternate means. |
It's rough owning a company, because you have to do SO MUCH. Supply and demand, blah blah. I JUST WANT THE COST OF EVERYTHING TO GO DOWN Totally went off topic. xDD |
[sweat] Open up an anime shop? [rofl]
yes, an anime shoppe!
Nerds love to spend money on nerdy things :D
yay for nerdy things@! \o/
Yep, I love me some nerdy things. Gonna spend my hard earned moneys on some lucky cats! Woo! Though, maybe that's not as nerdy as if I bought the little Haikyuu nendroids I've been eying.... They're so cute, but expensive!
meneko neko?
Yep, I'm gonna buy this one:
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDYwMA...Vsdoc/$_12.JPG I already have four of them...but they all have different designs! I have one that's holding a fish. One with chrysanthemums and then just a normal yellow and blue one. That one's a special edition cherry blossom one with a pearl finish *geeks out about solar lucky cats* |
i love them!
fortune kittie! |
Yeah. It's funny, I'm a total dog person, but I love cartoon cats like Hello Kitty and lucky cats and stuff. [yumeh2]
i love the ones in businesses
they have the moving paws =3 |
Yeah, the solar lucky cats move.
I have that yellow one in the middle and the flowered one on the end in that first group. And I have a gold head bobbing trio like in the second group. :D I've seen some battery operated ones too, but I like them moving with solar power better. Never have to change a battery! |
oh! i love themQ!
Yeah. They're adorable. I got a blue one at a con in my home town a long time ago. I only recently found out that they have lots of different ones and I wanted them so bad! We went to the Cherry Blossom Matsuri in Washington, DC this year and one of the booths was selling them, so I got two more. And then one on ebay. And now the booth that had them at the Matsuri is selling some more on ebay, so there goes my money! *waves at dollar bills as they fly out of wallet*
If only dollars were like Mene moneys! Oh no wait, I don't have many of them either [gonk]
Thank you. [heart]
Look, I even gave myself a lucky cat to hold. :D |
