"What about when it's not working?" Bianca was almost afraid to ask. Almost. Everyone here ran on caffeine, after all.

Pietro grinned and sped across the room to tap the back of her hand, and then right back to where he had been.

"Mmm, I actually felt that."

"It's... not as pretty," Karen said, grinning a bit over her coffee. "I try to make sure there's always coffee."

Kendra snorted.

"A little spark like that is nothing," she said. She smirked. "Come here and I'll give you a real jolt."

Bianca chuckled at that. "Everyone lives off caffeine?" she guessed, cradling her own coffee.

Pietro grinned and zipped over in front of her, holding out his hand with a challenging smirk.

"Pretty much," Karen replied, nodding. "Cheap coffee, but coffee."

Kendra eyed him for a moment before reaching out and grabbing his hand. Nothing happened for a moment, and then she smirked and a few sparks crackled across her skin and snapped at him. The bones in her fingers seemed to glow through her skin for a moment.

"It's coffee, it counts," Bianca said with a grin. "I make really good Irish coffee."

Pietro started and then grinned, delighted. "How fun."

"That's fantastic," Karen said, grinning. "We should keep you around from now on just for that."

Kendra raised an eyebrow.

"What, you like being shocked?" she asked him. "What's next, playing 'lightning-rod'?"

Bianca grinned at her. "I dunno, I think I need more than one useful skill to be kept around here, and bartending is my best skill."

Pietro grinned and bounced on the balls of his feet. "Maybe," he said. "Who knows?"

"Bartending?" Karen asked, tilting her head a bit. "That's interesting. How did you end up here? I mean," she added, "I know the Devil of Hell's Kitchen pointed you here, but still?"

Kendra gave him a bit of a Look.

"There's something wrong with you, I think," she finally said. "Nobody likes getting struck by lightning."

Bianca shrugged. "That's pretty much it," she said. "The Devil pointed me at Foggy's apartment and told me to go see him. The stuff before that is... confusing."

"That was not getting hit by lightning," Pietro said, rolling his eyes. "That was just a little shock."

"Are you okay, though?" Karen asked, still a bit concerned. "I know anything that involves him can be a bit... traumatic, sometimes, but he really does help people."

"Are you challenging me?" Kendra asked, raising an eyebrow. While maybe she couldn't call up full-fledged lightning bolts, she could generate more than a small shock.

"I..." Bianca paused. That was the first time anyone had actually asked. "It could have been worse," she said with a little shrug. "A lot worse. I'm just hoping this all blows over soon."

"If you want it to be." Pietro grinned. "Just try it out. We'll see what happens."

"I'm sure it will," Karen assured her. "Foggy said you're staying with Matt? I'd invite you to my place, but my apartment is really small right now..."

"Really?" Kendra asked in disbelief. "Your sister has been kind enough to put me up, I'm not about to repay that by destroying the apartment with lightning."

"It's fine," Bianca hurried to tell her. "Matt's nice, I don't mind staying with him. It's just not home."

"Well, don't destroy the apartment," Pietro said dryly. "Just a little zap. Just for fun." He raised an eyebrow at her.

Karen nodded.

"I get that," she said. "He let me stay for a little while, once, too."

"No thanks," Kendra replied shoving her hands into her pockets. "I'm not going to play this game with you."

"He seems like an okay guy," Bianca agreed with a little shrug.

Pietro shrugged and then grinned at her. "Alright," he agreed. "But you better go find something to do with that electricity. Your hair is fuzzing."

"Oh, he is," Karen assured her, nodding. "Still, I know what it's like to miss having your own apartment back, you know?"

"Leave me be," Kendra grumbled, running her fingers through her hair. It only made the static worse.

"Yeah, I know." Bianca's smile was a little sad. "It would be better if I knew when I could go back, but..." She trailed off and shrugged.

Pietro snorted and zipped out of the room. He returned a minute later with rubber gloves on.

"These work, right?"

"I know the feeling," Karen said, nodding. "It'll work out."

Kendra raised an eyebrow.

"Rubber gloves?" she asked. "Sure, if they're sound. No holes or anything. What are you planning to do?"

"Hope so." Bianca settled in a little closer to Karen, because Karen was nice and she was really missing Kendra. And Kendra-cuddles.

Pietro shrugged. "You can zap these?" he offered. Because really, he didn't have a plan, he was just making it up as he went along.

Karen just let her. She knew how important it was to feel safe after something that required Daredevil's intervention.

Kendra shook her head.

"Those are no good," she said. "The electricity won't go anywhere." She glanced at him. "Just leave me be, I can handle it."

Pietro huffed a bit. "I'm certain you can," he agreed. "But I am curious to see. Where would be an acceptable place for you to discharge some energy, then?"

"Why are you so fixated on this?" Kendra demanded, rounding on him. "Why do you keep pushing?"

Pietro shrugged. "I'm curious," he said, completely unrepentant even in the face of her ire. "I do not talk to others much. But, if I bother you so much, I'll leave you be." He flashed her a quick grin before he left.

Kendra watched him go and then ran her fingers through her hair again, gathering all the sparks she could before closing her hands and snuffing them out. Then she pulled out her phone to text her sister.

I need to get out of here. I can't stand being trapped like this.

Bianca blinked at her phone. You think it's safe enough now? She liked the people well enough but she was getting a bit stir crazy.
