"You'd be right behind me," Karen said, laughing a little. "Trust me. Not even Foggy would see it coming."
"Nope. It would be glorious." Bianca grinned.
It didn't take long to get the bagels and head back up to the office. |
"Where have you been?" Foggy asked when they got back to the office. "And more importantly, do I smell bagels?"
"You definitely do," Matt said, grinning a bit. "Those are fresh from the place on the corner, aren't they?" |
"Yes they are," Bianca confirmed, putting the bag of bagels on the table in between Matt and Foggy. "We also restocked on coffee while we were out."
"You're clearly an angel," Foggy said as he went and rooted through the bag. "If we didn't already have Karen, I'd be trying to adopt you, I want you to know that."
"Aw, Foggy, you do care!" Bianca's smile was quite genuine and pleased, though, and she ruffled his hair affectionately.
"Hey hey hey, careful with that," Foggy yelped, waving his hands a bit. "Easy with the hair." He was grinning a bit, though, and Matt snickered a little.
"Did I mess up your carefully styled 'I've been hunched over a desk for the past five hours nearly yanking my hair out in frustration' look?" Bianca teased, grinning.
"Yes!" Foggy blurted. "I mean, no, that's not a thing, just easy on the hair."
"You've both got perfect timing," Matt cut in. "It's time for us to take a break, anyways." |
"Good." Bianca looked at the two for a moment. "Well there's bagels, I got some cream cheese too, and now we've got lots of coffee again."
"Sounds like lunch to me," Matt said with a small grin. "But, ladies first, of course." He gestured to the bagels.
Bianca snorted quietly but picked out a bagel to nibble on, moving out of the way so they could get theirs too.
Later that night, Kendra carefully snuck out of Wanda and Pietro's apartment. She couldn't be cooped up any longer, and she wanted to see her sister.
Bianca snuck out of Matt's place to go meet Kendra at the diner. Really, she wasn't going to be gone that long, and it was harmless. He'd never know.
"Kendra!" Bianca beamed when she spotted her sister. |
"Bianca!" Kendra rushed over and hugged her sister. "I'm so glad you're alright, did anything happen to you?"
"No, I'm fine," Bianca told her. "I'm just fine. What about you? Have they been treating you okay?"
"Yeah, I guess," Kendra replied. "Can't say I like what's-his-face too much. He's nosy and obnoxious."
Bianca snorted quietly. "Well, I haven't seen the devil again, but the lawyers he dropped me with are surprisingly awesome."
"Lawyers?" Kendra asked, blinking. "The devil knows lawyers?"
"Well he dropped me off with one," Bianca said with a shrug. "I have no idea how it works but it works, I guess. The lawyer didn't kick me out, anyway, and they've been pretty nice."
"Wow," Kendra said. "Lucky." She shook her head a bit. "Anyways, come on. Our apartment has to be okay by now. I can't imagine anyone would have hung around this long."
"No kidding." Bianca shrugged and started walking back towards the apartment. "I would be really surprised if there was anyone still watching for us, really."
"Yeah," Kendra said. She started walking with her sister, occasionally generating a few sparks when they needed a little extra light.
They didn't make it all the way home. A van screeched to a stop in front of them, an identical, unidentifiable van stopping at the other end of the alleyway, so they had no way out.
This time, they were jumped by a lot more than a few men. The men were prepared this time. |
Kendra swore and discharged as much electricity as she could. She didn't have time to be surprised when it didn't work; she was grabbed from behind and quickly bound and gagged.
