"He might not be so much now," Reilly pointed out with a little grin. "Not if he keeps seeing Aurora."
"Small miracles," Bucky said, smirking. "Maybe she can keep him outta trouble for me."
"Or get him into an entirely new type of trouble, one of the two," Reilly said with a grin.
Bucky laughed.
"True," he said. "Very true. Gotta admit, though, she's good for him." |
Reilly smiled. "Good to know. I think he's doing her a lot of good, too. She's happier and more relaxed recently, and Steve's the only thing different recently."
"Same with Steve," Bucky said, nodding. He grinned a bit. "Least he's not fussing over me as much anymore now that he's got her to fuss over."
Reilly snickered. "I bet. This should be very fun to watch, for us both." She grinned at him. "We could even get together more often, compare notes, that kind of thing."
"I'd be up for that," Bucky replied, grinning. He smirked. "And I'm always good to watch Steve trip over himself around a pretty dame."
Reilly laughed a little, grinning. "Oh this'll be very fun," she said. "I can tell you and I are going to have a lot of fun."
"I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship," Bucky agreed, grinning. And if he meant something more than he implied, well, there was time to get there.
Reilly grinned at that and didn't protest his choice of words. Of course, at the time she didn't realize how quickly she'd become fond of him, or just how often she'd end up texting him, which was almost whenever she had free time.
Bucky ended up texting her all the time, too. He was pleased at how receptive she seemed to be to him, and was already planning his next move with her.
Which of course was when something else came up. Some younger vamps had started moving into Steve and Bucky's territory, and they caught wind of it before the girls. And, really, they couldn't just let anyone wander into their territory. So they left to deal with the problem.
Not even five minutes later, Tony texted Aurora a set of coordinates and a brief message that there were vamps there, go get rid of them please. |
Aurora nudged her sister when she got the text.
"Duty calls," she commented as she went to check their hunting kit real quick. |
"Alright." Reilly went to go grab her own gear. "Where are we headed this time?" she asked as she gathered up a couple things.
"Next town," Aurora said, gearing up. "New vamps trying to move in that need to be taken care of."
"Oh fun." Reilly huffed a bit. "This shouldn't take too long, then."
"As long as it's just vamps. I don't feel like dealing with revenants tonight," Aurora said.
"I don't think there'd be revenants in with a new group of vamps," Reilly pointed out.
"We thought the last vamp nest Tony sent us on was a vamp nest and it turned out to be revenants," Aurora pointed out. "I'll be annoyed if it happens again."
"True," Reilly agreed. "Well, we'll just have to wait and see."
Meanwhile, Bucky and Steve were already working on clearing out the newcomers from their territory. The invading vamps were persistent and stubborn, refusing to leave.
One of them finally threw the first punch, and Steve was actually kind of glad they started it so he could act defensively. In this case, defensively did mean forcibly removing them with extreme prejudice, but still. Defensively.
Bucky smirked when the intruders threw the first punch. He ran one down when he tried to escape, and forcibly dragged him back into the fight.
Meanwhile, Aurora and Reilly were just getting into the area. |
Reilly paused when she saw a splash of blood on the street near where they parked. "Well that's not a good sign." She got out of the car quickly, pulling out her machete and starting to look around for the vamps.
