Looking for some like minded people

I'll try to make this as brief as I can. If it gets too overwhelming let me know but I'll just list 10 things. You can decide for yourself afterward.

1. I'm the introverted type, but NOT antisocial. Huge difference. Yet I'm outspoken and not scared to stand for what I believe in.

2. I'm a huge bookworm and a writer at heart, and I believe firmly that reading is good for you, whether it be paper or audio. I tend to not get along well with people who aren't into reading/listening to stories cuz I don't think we could relate at all.

3. At 19 I was diagnosed with Asperger's, which is (still) a form of autism. I'm not ashamed, and why should I have to hide it or keep it a secret just to make everyone else feel comfortable? Sorry, no. See, this disability has caused me a lot of problems in life but has also taught me and helped me a lot. It's both a blessing and a curse. Because of this though I am easily misunderstood, my communications skills aren't a great and can be pretty socially awkward. But I do my best.

4. I enjoy recreational drugs now and again, when I have access to them. Think what you will but they have opened up a new world for me and they have taught me a lot. Like what an open mind is, how to see things in another light. It removes anger, ego, all negative emotions and helps you to see more clearly than ever before. So many musicians and bands have delves into this world and it's helped them be more creative with their music. So I regret nothing.

5. I love all kinds of critters, Cats, dogs, birds, sea life, even mythical creatures (yes I'm aware they don't exist, I'm not dumb). I feel like a lot of animals can understand me better than my own homosapien kind, and some mythical creatures have the traits I see in myself.

6. Music is the ultimate drug. I have all kinds in my playlist. Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Country, whatever. Music. It calms me down and even helps with my imagination.

7. (this bit is from Gaia Online) My Gaia marriage isn't some roleplaying thing. I've know robd1978 since 2008 and we know each other better than anyone else. He's the one who helped me open up to the world, he introduced me to some of the greatest music, he's the one who never quit on me even when everyone else did. I can tell him anything without being judged. He knows my quirks, my disabilities and all my fears and he hasn't gone anywhere. My loyalty is with him above anyone else and I will stand by him for good and no one can convince me otherwise.

8. I'm anti stigma. Meaning anyone who ridicules or downplays someone's mental issues will get called out, like it or not. I'm not perfect, and neither is he, but no one is. NO ONE.

9. I'm Italian therefore I have a very short temper and if you play me you'll know how it feels to be played. You won't even see it coming. Do not think about betraying me.

10. I have my flaws but I can be the most loyal friend you've ever had as long as you know how to treat me as a friend.

Wanna know more? Post here or send a message. Ask anything or talk about these subjects and I will tell you all I can. But you have to want to.

Hi there! I'm not sure how like minded I am, but here is my response to everything you posted:

1. Introverted and anti-social are completely different. Introversion/ambiversion/extroversion are not necessarily indicative of how social one is. I am an ambivert. Are you familiar with this term?

2. Reading is wonderful. I loved reading growing up and sadly don't have much time right now to just cuddle up and read a book for hours from cover to cover as I used to. Do you enjoy participating in roleplays?

3. Asperger's is not something one should be ashamed about. Rather, it is a shame that a lot of people have a stigma against, and don't understand -- rather, don't seek to understand -- people with autism or other conditions. My best friend from middle school was diagnosed with Asperger's. He was artistic, creative, academically gifted, and kind. How has Asperger's been a blessing for you?

4. I believe recreational drug use in adults should be a personal choice as long as their use is not affecting others (including second hand smoke). I choose not to use recreational drugs, and that is my choice for myself. What recreational drugs have you tried in the past or currently use?

5. Animals are great. I used to think I was going to become a veterinarian. Do you have any pets or work with animals?

6. Music is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I've played multiple instruments, composed short pieces, et cetera back in the day. Nowadays I mostly just listen, sing, and dance to music. What songs are on your playlist right now?

7. It's wonderful how the Internet has brought people together who might not have had the opportunity to meet each other otherwise. I think everyone here on Menewsha would agree with this statement. Are you still active on Gaia? Would you invite robd1978 here to Menewsha?

8. No one is perfect. That's a fact. Can you share an example of something that happened?

9. I am not Italian and don't have firsthand experience with the short temper you mentioned. Can you share an example of something that happened?

10. Everyone has their flaws, but friendships still exist in the world. Can you tell us about your friends?

Hey! Thanks for coming. By like minded I mean, someone I have stuff in common with, someone I can relate to, someone who at least understands where I'm coming from. So to answer all your questions. This may be a pretty long read so hopefully you aren't overwhelmed.

Ambivert? I don't believe I've heard of that term before, but according to the dictionary it means being a mix between introvert and extrovert. Which seems slightly confusing because I've never heard of someone having 2 personality types that are supposed to clash with each other, but I suppose it happens.
As for roleplaying I used to love doing that, but my style tends to be awkward an embarrass other more experienced writers I guess. They don't agree with my style. It's been called sloppy and I'm told is illogical. So I eventually stopped because it wasn't enjoyable anymore, I felt like people picked at my style no matter what I wrote and someone always had something to say.
My diagnoses has blessed me in lots of ways. My sense of hearing has been very keen along with my sense of smell. I smell things that not many can even detect. I have a sense of something happening sometimes and have seen things in ways other don't see or choose not too. I'm told I'm a creative writer and very articulate and have a talent for picking apart things in music, movies and other things not many would even acknowledge. I'm sure there's been other ways but bottom line is I knew I was different for a long time.
The recreational drug use isn't very constant for me, it just happens when I have access to them and IF I'm in the mood for a "trip". It depends on the circumstances. Sometimes I decide "No I just can't today I don't feel like it". It can be dangerous but as long as you have a good guide you're ok. Your mood and the environment both play a big role in whether or not the "trip" will be enjoyable. You also need to know how to not overdo it and take the right dose. Going too far might overwhelm you and you could have a panic attack. Anyway the drugs I've used were: Robotussin, molly (a form of ecstasy), acid (lsd), speed, mushrooms, marijuana and a couple others. Not all at once of course.
As for music here's some favorites: Jana Mashonee Aerosmith Beck Soul Coughing Led Zeppelin Corporate Avenger Audioslave David Bowie Nine Inch Nails James Gang Joe Walsh Natasha Bedingfield Linkin Park Enigma Enya Sade Gorillaz The Who The Beatles Tove Lo Taylor Swift Reba McIntire Adele Gavin Degraw Demi Lovato John Mayer Eminem Tech N9ne Bruno Mars Ed Sheeran Dave Matthews Band Mindi Abair America Lady Gaga Disturbed System of a Down Mudvayne Kittie Korn Insane Clown Posse Yui Utada Hikaru Ayumi Hamasaki Maroon 5 Leona Lewis Incubus Creed and more
Rob is active on Gaia only because of me. He's mainly been keeping to himself because as of now he's lost his faith and trust in literally everyone due to certain events and has no desire to open up to anyone else. I understand completely but I'm still not ready to give up on people yet. See, we were very active on another online forum, mainly because I've been prodding at him at first to open up to people again and join me in making new friends. It ook time but he finally agree. It was going well for about a year or so but one day things went horribly wrong after someone made a comment and he stood up for me. And well let's just say neither of us are welcome among most of that community anymore. I blame mostly myself because he saw that coming from a mile away and I still pressured him. So I understand completely why he's done with online forums or trying to meet new people in general, and this time I'm not going to make the horrible mistake of pressuring him into it again. If he joins I want it to be all his choice.
As for what happened the mental thing is a sore subject for me when people make insensitive comments. He suffers a lot of things like servere depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and such and he struggles a lot because of it. I've witnessed him try to fight through it and even try to keep it to himself and act like everything's good and I can tell you that doesn't work at all. He eventually explodes. And when people make comments like "Suck it up" or "other people have it worse than you, "It's all in the mind" "stop being so negative" "be thankful for the good things you have" ect it tends to piss me off cuz none of them have a single clue what he has to do with every day and all the meltdowns and suffering he and other people like him go through. Sometimes people think they're being helpful but they're not.
9 and 10 are sort of similar. 9 is a very long story which you probably won't want to here before this post is probably long enough but to make it short, I had someone who I thought was my closest friend lie to me 3 times and then played me for a complete fool while acting totally clueless. So I kinda pretended to be one of her fans to gather info out of her and catch her in lies to expose her, then revealed myself so that she would know exactly how it felt to be played. I'm not sorry, you don't play with other people's loyalty, especially not mine.
I used to have at least a few friends but they're all gone now. Some were toxic, and sometimes maybe I was toxic to them (according to them). My communication skills are terrible and I can rarely get anyone to understand where I'm coming from and why I get upset. I tend to get easily angry and lash out and that's caused a lot of conflict. It's hard to explain but everyone pretty much gave up on me except Rob, but I keep trying to find some good loyal friends that are willing to understand.

I found this image on the Internet that I think summarizes the spectrum pretty well:

http://i.imgur.com/8SkL2wG.jpg

So I would say it's not really having two personality types that clash with each other. It's more like having qualities of both an introvert and an extrovert. According to the graphic above, a large percentage of people would classify as ambiverts, although sometimes more on one end than the other.

I don't know how clear of a description that was, but I can talk about myself a little bit. In real life, I have both stereotypically introverted and extroverted qualities.

Extroverted side - I am super talkative, energetic, and enthusiastic. I am a social butterfly who has a lot of friends. I love being with and around others. I'm always smiling, cheerfully saying hi to everyone, singing and dancing and performing, attending events, meeting new people, taking on leadership positions, hanging out with friends, planning group outings, et cetera.

Introverted side - I am super quiet and reserved. I love being alone. I enjoy my alone time by reading, studying, cleaning, organizing, drawing, writing, listening to music, et cetera. I love exploring new places and going on adventures by myself. My friends want to all go hang out somewhere, and I want to stay in my room doing my own thing. I put my mobile device away so that my alone time is not distracted by their texts and messages.

I haven't read through the rest of your reply yet but wanted to respond to that topic first ^_^

oh I get it! That makes perfect sense now. I may be ambiverted too, it's just my extroverted side doesn't come out unless I feel like I can relate to the person.

salvete 02-21-2016 06:12 AM

I'm glad it makes sense ^_^

I have participated in a few roleplays, although they always seemed to go inactive after a while as people got busy.

Of the artists you listed, I have listened to songs by: Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Natasha Bedingfield, Linkin Park, Enya, The Who, The Beatles, Tove Lo, Taylor Swift, Adele, Demi Lovato, John Mayer, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Utada Hikaru, Maroon 5, and Leona Lewis.

It is great that you and Rob are so close and support each other ^_^ Sorry to hear about what happened with the forum and the friend. It is good to move away from toxicity. It is understandable if he is hesitant to join any more avatar sites such as Menewsha after those incidents. I think non-users can also browse this site, so if he ever wanted to see what it is like here on Menewsha, he could always check it out without actually joining.

Well...I'm not even sure WHAT "verted" I am...but I find I have a lot in common with you, no u shuddup...though, my communication skills are not poor...which, in itself, has caused me to be friendless! Lol!
If in ever say anything that seems disrespectful toward someone's disability or mental disorder, I would appreciate a warning before you lash out at me...for I would never purposely disrespect someone because of something out of their ability to change...but I DO tend to find a way to "make light" of things...which might seem disrespectful.
I was married to a bipolal, severely depressed and, ultimately, mentally dangerous guy...
I have learned a lot, though my 54 years, about how minds work...and DONT work!
My middle daughter is disabled...she has the developmental skills of a 9 to 18 month old baby, though she is 33 years old...
I am probably the most open minded person you will ever meet...providing you don't hurt children or take advantage of those unable to defend themselves...
I don't have any in-person friends because I am a terribly and blatantly honest person...and I inevitably wind up saying something that is blatantly honest, but TRUE...and most people tell me to f*ck off and disappear.
I usually wind up telling someone something about themself that they are totally in denial about...and I mention it in hopes that they might want to address the issue...and I am usually met with anger and abandonment.
Oh well...I'm too busy taking care of my daughter to worry about having friends!
My youngest daughter has a friend that has Aspergers...she and her man just LOVE the guy!
I find the syndrome quite interesting, so I was drawn to your thread and actually READ every WORD!
(I am a long-winded poster, myself...often overwhelming readers.)
I suggest that rob just check menewsha out...he doesn't need to log on as a user to read all the forums....I "lurk" a lot when I'm not in the mood to post....and when I only have my phone to access the site, because my "phone goblin" tends to swallow my long-winded posts and I wind up frustrated for having wasted all the time it took to type said long-winded post....
I hope your friend considers joining...
I think Menewshans are more mature and caring than folks I have encountered on other sites...
I hope you make some genuine friends, here!

Thanks for coming! Overtime I learned that one way or another everyone is going to be offensive, even without trying to be. It's unavoidable. My problem isn't that, it's the people who, when you bring up something upsetting they said, they don't care if they triggered something. It's the people who DON'T care who piss me off. So I think we'll be just fine.
Lately I've had to make sure people were up to reading my writing because most people aren't. and it was always insulting because I spent a lot of time and thought in my profile writing and it's just too much for people. It turns me off to know that people don't want to make that effort in order to form friendships. I want people to actually know me before saying the "F" word to me. But according to some people it's too much to ask which is pretty upsetting to me but simplifying my hard work seems to be my only option. So I totally relate to you being upset by spending all that writing time for nothing.
I accept friends of all ages. I don't care if they're 100 or if they're 12 as long as I can connect with them and they aren't a jerk. As long as they have an open mind I couldn't give a crap less about age.
I can't make any promises but I'll show Rob this post and leave it up to him. I'm scared to make the same mistake of pressuring him ever again.

salvete 02-22-2016 04:50 AM

I like your outfit by the way ^_^ how the lavender hair matches your lavender pants! and especially how you included the mina scarf! That item can be hard to pull off but it matches very well with the other red items in your avatar in my opinion <3

no u shuddup, I have a whole inventory of items that I received from a friend that left Menewsha. If you let me know what items you are looking for, color, style, etc..., I will do my best to send you a trade with items you'll gladly use.
There is lots to choose from, dresses, pants, skirts, shirts, shoes, basically everything. Colors might be the easiest to start with.

Wow really? That's so nice of you! Starting off with colors my faovirtes are purple, dark pink, sage green and raspberry

Queen_Andais 02-22-2016 09:09 PM

Gotcha! Let me dig around and send you what I have. It might end up being two trades, I'll let you know when they are sent.

The items were donated to me by a long time friend that found she had no real time for Menewsha anymore and gave me the items with the express understanding that I would donate the items in my various giveaway threads during events and those in need of clothing.

---------- Post added 02-22-2016 at 02:26 PM ----------

Trades have been sent. If some of the items are not to your liking please send them back and I will be happy to go through my items again with a different color list and see what I might have that will work for you.

Pretty good. Thanks for reading! I tried to make it as short as I could but once I get to writing I can't stop, I have to force myself to shorten things.

the sweet witch items on your avatar are my all-time favorite items on mene, so we may have that in common?

I haven't been diagnosed with anything but being a debbie downer but I can definitely relate to anyone who has been put on the autism spectrum.

Now I wasn't raised very well so you being italian may have issue with my manners [lol]

Rainbows, I might have a few more Sweet Witch items if you would like them...?
