Bruce stood there for a moment, blushing and smiling like a love-stricken schoolboy. Then he shook himself and went to his car, remembering that he had a meeting to get to...and someone to fire.
After getting as far away as possible, Gemini decided to go talk to her boss after all. She couldn't let one encounter ruin her day. Her boss was doing well and had plans to reopen the restaurant as soon as possible- apparently Wayne enterprises had bought it. He would still be the manager, but now the restaurant, once rebuilt, would be up to code and actually a nice place to work. And Gemini would still have a job. Now she hurried on her way back to tell Lori the good news. |
Lori wondered back to work. She was glad no one knew about her and Clark so she finished up work without any trouble. She headed home a skip in her step. "honey I'm home." she called into the apartment letting Athena in as well.

Gemini had arrived at the apartment only a few minutes before. Lacking a key, she had picked the lock and let herself in. She had just sat down when Lori walked in, and looked up. "Hey. You seem happy...does that mean it went well? C'mon, I want details."

Lori went into detail blushing as she talked about there kiss and the fact that she would be working for Bruce. "It was a great a date."

Gemini squealed, bouncing up and down on the couch. "That's so great! Oh, I can't believe you're going to work for him! Just imagine, you'll get to see him almost every day! You are SO lucky!"

"Its pretty awesome. I get to call him boss and have a little office romance." Lori grinned. "What about you?'

Gemini started to answer, and flashed back to her encounter that morning. Her smile faded a bit, but she decided not to mention it. She didn't want to ruin Lori's good mood. So instead she focused on the good news. "I've got my job back, as soon as the restaurant is rebuilt, and with a few more benefits." She told Lori about how the restaurant had been bought.

"Bruce sure works fast." Lori laughed. "I'm glad you got to keep your job. I still feel bad though." she pouted. "You can keep living here as long as you want."

Gemini hugged Lori tightly. "Thank you! I promise I'll start paying rent as soon as I've got my job back." She said, pulling away with a smile.

"It doesn't have to be a lot. I mean your sleeping on my couch...maybe I should upgrade to a two bedroom." Lori mused as she feed Athena who was winding between her legs. She sighed and stretched "How about you make supper, I have a few loads of laundry to bring downstairs. If there's no empty machines I'll have to go down the street.'' She made a face.

"As much as you need." Gemini said. "We'll agree on a price later." She got up from the couch and went to the kitchen. "Sure, take your time. I'll have dinner ready by the time you get back."

Lori took her laundry and made her way to the laundry mat. Two hours later she returned her eyes puff and her makeup smeared. She dodged past Gemini hoping she wouldn't notice.

Naturally, Gemini noticed and stopped her. "Lori? What happened?" She asked.

Lori just shook her head cradling the basket closer. She had a bruise on her cheek and a few cuts on her hands. "Nothing I couldn't handle." she gave her a shaky smile.

"Someone tried to hurt you." Gemini guessed. "Who are they? What did they look like? Here, I'll get you some ice."

"Just some punk kids. They'll grow tired of it soon." Lori touched her cheek with a sigh. "At least I hope so."

"Soon? Have they done this before?" Gemini asked, coming back with an ice pack. "I'll go with you next time. Strength in numbers, right? They won't mess with both of us."

"You would be surprised." Lori mumbled hissing when the ice touched her cheek. "They break into places a lot Bruce will teach them a lesson soon enough."

"Lori, you live in Metropolis. I'm afraid this isn't Bruce's territory. And...do you really want to rely on Clark?" Gemini asked. "Why didn't you use your powers?"

"They go over to Gotham at some point." Lori flinched. "They already think I'm a witch if I burn them it's not going to make it easier."

"I don't like this at all." Gemini said. "I don't care if they think I'm a witch, I'll gladly transform right in front of them and rain hell on their asses..." She grumbled. "But for now, let's just get you rested. I made dinner if you're hungry, but if not I'll save some for you for later."

"Just don't you'll only make it worse." Lori sighed and sat down to eat a miserable look on her face. "I'll just buy my time and wait for them to get arrest then have Ivy do horrible things to them."

Gemini pouted. "So I can't even torture them a little?" She asked. "I mean, I'd rather kill them, but if you don't want me to...can I at least help Ivy do horrible things to them later?"

"Your the only one who knows about them." Lori shook her head. "It's not anything I can't handle." she went to put her cloths away a sad look on her face.

"But...that's even better! If no one else knows, then no one will connect me to it..." She trailed off, seeing Lori was clearly not in the mood for jokes. "Alright, I'll leave it alone. But if you come home like this again, there will be nothing you can do to stop me from hurting them."
