"Stop laughing." Cress blasted her with flames scowling. "I'm going to go beat someone up." she grumbled walking off.
|
Kitsune avoided the flames and ducked away to calm her laughter.
Batman followed behind Cress silently, even though he knew she'd seen him. |
Cress grumbled something about not needing enemies with the friends she had. After she took out a few more criminals keeping a few items if it was a robbery. She maybe a hero but old habits died hard and she could never ignore shiny things. She eventually got tired and headed home sighing softly.
Joker meanwhile was getting ready to cause a little more trouble by blowing up a bank though he would make sure to get a little money out of it first. |
All the while, Batman followed her, no longer bothering to make his presence a secret from her. Despite seeing everything, however, he never once intervened or attempted to stop her from stealing. As she headed home, he followed her still, now just making sure she got back safely.
Since she knew Batman would be following Cress all night, Kitsune decided to stick around and patrol Gotham, just in case anything else happened. |
Cress got to her apartment and sighed. "You know you could come out right?" she chuckled. Then frowned staring in the wrong direction. She thought she had seen something then with a gasp she raced off after a shadow forgetting about Bruce and the goods in her shirt.
Joker stole a good chunk of money then with a smirk he blew up the building most likely killing those inside. |
Batman was about to reveal himself when Cress went running off with a gasp. Concerned, he followed her quickly.
Luckily, Kitsune was nearby and was able to use her powers, stopping the flames long enough to get at least a few survivors out alive. |
Cress followed the figure into a deadend alley. "What?" she glanced around with a frown. "Harl's?" she called checking the rooftop. "I could have sworn." it wasn't possibly since she was burying her sister in the morning but she been so sure it was her she had seen.
Joker laughed. "So you return." he smirked. ''couldn't stay away. I know I'm fascinating." he chuckled tossing the last had of cash into his car. "To bad I have to run." |
Batman came up behind her, making noise so she wouldn't be startled. "It can't be her." He said. "You just buried her two days ago. Are you okay?"
Kitsune shook her head. "I go where disaster strikes. It is mere misfortune that you are the cause of so many disasters in this place." |
"I'm telling you I saw her." Cress shook her head. "What's wrong with me?" she frowned. "Am I going crazy?" she turned to look at him. Blinking as she noticed a manhole under her feet "Of course!" she moved the cover. "She had to have gone this way!"
"Well then I guess we'll being meeting a lot." Joker smirked and winked at her. "I'll have to make sure to make a few games just for you." |
Batman shook his head. "You're not crazy, Cress. You're grieving. It seems to me like someone is trying to trick you." He said. "If you want to check down there, I'll go with you. You're not going in alone. Just in case."
"I do not play games." Kitsune said coolly. "I win them." With that, she sent a ball of fire hurling at his car. |
Cress smiled. "Thank you." she vanished into the sewer grimacing. "Gross." she made a face and headed off. "It's dark as pitch in here." she grumbled then blinked as she spotted a light down one of the branches it was moving away from them. "Please tell me you see that.".
Joker ducked and cursed. "I just stole that!" he scowled and pulled one of his bombs from his pocket chucking it at her. |
Batman followed her closely. He was about to turn on a flashlight when they saw a light ahead of them, moving away. "Yes, I do see that." He said. He clicked on his own flashlight. "Let's follow it."
Kitsune casually tossed a fireball to intercept the bomb, making it explode harmlessly in midair while the fire dissipated any gasses that may have been inside. "And I should care because?" |
Cress nodded and lead the way following the light with a frown. As they went further the passage got smaller and more branch's appeared. When they reached a fork the light had vanished. "Which way did it go?" she blinked checking each passage.
"Your not like Batsy he would have wanted it to go back in one piece." Joker frowned and pulled out a gun. "Guess I'll have to get inventive." he fired at her. |
Batman frowned. "Not sure. Hang on." He clicked a button on his utility belt to turn on his head sensors, trying to see if he could pick up anyone's heat signature within a mile's radius.
"I never claimed to be like him, nor do I wish to be." She said. She dodging the bullet quickly, seeming to disappear from one spot and reappear in another. She fired lightening at him this time. |
They couldn't pick up anything but well he looked around Cress did the same staring down each tunnel and poking the walls with a scowl. Suddenly her heat signature vanished as she found a hidden passage only by pushing on the wall to hard and vanishing threw the fake wall that slid shut behind her.
Joker yelped and groaned. "Ok thats not fair." he pouted leaning against the wall supernaturals belong in Superdorks territory. |
Batman swung around, startled as Cress' signature vanished. He went to the wall where she had just been and started pushing on it.
"Since when do you care about fair?" Kitsune asked calmly as she walked towards him, getting ready to knock him out so she could drop him off with the police. |
"I don't but that is far over the line." Joker slumped to the ground. "You can't fight powers when your only human." his hand strayed to his pocket where his knife sat.
Cress groaned as she sat up in the dark. "crap." she made a face then with a resigned sigh she headed down the passage way. She caught sight of the light again and raced after it forgetting about Bruce who was still trying to figure out the secret passage. She skidded to a halt when she noticed standing in the passage watching her. |
Kitsune knelt down in front of him, just out of arm's reach. Even through the mask, he could tell she was staring at him. "Perhaps. But I don't fight fair. I do what I have to in order to win." She stood abruptly. "There is much I do not understand. You...I can't even begin to understand why I'm doing this. Consider yourself lucky." She backed away, fading into the shadows.
It took Batman a few minutes before he figured out the passage, and of course Cress was gone by the time he did. Sighing, he followed the passageway, hoping to find her before anything bad happened. |
"She's a weird girl." Joker mumbled and managed somehow to get to his house moaning a little as he fell onto his bed sighing a little. He glanced at the picture of Harley that sat on his desk frowning a little.
Cress summoned her flames frowning as she stared at the person. "Hello?" she called stepping closer. As she moved closer the person turned to look at her. "Harley?" she called then cursed as the figure raced off. "Wait!" she raced after the person. Eventually she emerged in an old warehouse one that had obviously been forgotten about. She stopped panting a little glancing around "Am I even in Gotham?" she grumbled glancing around. Just as she let her flames expand she noticed a flammable sign on a syllo. "Oh damn." she tried to pull her flames back the air exploded in a rainbow of colors. |
Batman followed the faint heat signature that Cress had left behind. He started running when he heard Cress' voice calling out, though he couldn't hear exactly what she was saying. He arrived just in time to see a ball of fire expand rapidly. Running straight into the flames, he looked for Cress, calling her name, hoping she was alright.
|
Cress had some how survived though the force of the blast had knocked her into a wall and knocked her out. Even unconcious her powers where protecting her from the flames that where licking at the old wood.
|
Batman knelt down and gently picked her up. "Cress?" He called softly, worried. He looked around to see if anyone else was there. Needless to say, his heat sensors were utterly useless at the moment. "Let's get you out of here."
|
Cress moaned softly but didn't wake her hands where a little red but it looked like her suit was in tacked. She cuddled closer to him eyes slowly opening. "Harley?" she mumble before blacking out again.
|
Batman frowned slightly. Whoever had done this seemed to be trying to convince Cress her sister was still alive. The cruelty of it made him angry, but he put that aside as he carried Cress back to her apartment to care for her.
|
Lucky for Bruce the window was ajar so that her cat could come and go as she pleased. Cress's eyes finally opened "Ow." she mumbled grimacing.
