"Yes, but you have to admit, it is fun when it's necessary." Callie grinned right back at her. Oh, she was liking Roxy already.
"It is," Roxy admitted. "You know, I don't think I ever asked you what brought you here. Did you really switch places with Valerie?"
"Yup." Callie grinned. "Pretty sure Merlin knew from the start, but I fooled Harry and Eggsy." She leaned back in her chair, clearly a bit smug.
"You fooled Harry?" Roxy asked. "That's impressive." She smiled a bit. "Though I'm not surprised you fooled Eggsy. You do look just like Valerie."
"I do," Callie agreed. "That's what made it so fun. And it seems I'll be staying for a while, so that'll be fun."
"Well, I'm glad you're staying," Roxy replied. "We need more women around here."
Callie grinned at that. "Agreed." She settled back a bit in her seat, finally actually beginning to look over the information on the tablet.
Elsewhere, Valerie was finally settling in and getting around to looking over the information on the flash drive Coulson had given her.
Clint poked his head in a little while later, grinning a bit. "Heard about the new position," he said in greeting, letting himself in and dropping down in a chair.
"News travels fast when it's supposed to be secret," Valerie replied as she skimmed through the information. "I hope you know that this info packet makes you all look batshit insane."
"That's normal, on both counts," Clint said with a little shrug. "I'm sure Callie warned you all about working with me from the get go."
"She did," Valerie agreed. "The others, not so much. I didn't show up expecting to become Coulson's apprentice."
"No one expects that," Clint said with a grin. "Not too surprised, honestly. You're in a good spot for it, you've heard a lot from Callie even if she didn't have the same job, you've got training already."
"I'm used to the Knights," Valerie admitted. "I was an assistant to the quartermaster, so I didn't deal too much with them directly, but still, everyone interacted with them at some point."
"Right. Similar concept here." Clint shrugged. "Coulson's not going to just throw you straight at the team, he's not that cruel."
"I'm supposed to report to the Tower first thing tomorrow," Valerie pointed out. "So we'll see how this goes. At least I get to wear my suits, there's a certain amount of comfort in that."
Clint snorted. "Yeah, Tony will like that. Pretty sure he's never heard of Kingsman." His grin was a little wicked.
"Oh lovely," Valerie said with a sigh. "Well, I'm not letting him get his hands on my kit, that's for certain. Merlin would have my head."
"He might make noises about that but he'll accept that," Clint said after a moment of thought. "You'll have to watch out for Steve, though. He'll ask questions all innocent-like and next thing you know the little shit is teasing you about something you did twenty years ago."
Valerie blinked at that.
"What?" she said. "Did you just call Captain America a little shit?" |
"Oh yes." Clint shook his head a bit. "You will too, soon enough. Just wait. I'll give you a month, tops."
"I don't know that I could ever call Captain America a little shit," Valerie said cautiously. She grinned a bit. "You, maybe. I can easily see myself calling you a little shit."
"Oh that's normal," Clint said, waving that off. "I totally am, anyway." He grinned.
Valerie snickered.
"Isn't that the truth," she replied. |
Clint grinned. "So, he give you the big intimidating data file on us?" he asked knowingly.
