Hey everyone! We have some decisions to make and I've kind of taken a few steps in the direction of cancelling the URE. Before I go drastic and say for sure it's all cancelled and hand back gold and items to the users that donated, I want to hear from everyone.

That's up to what the rest decide. Though I really wasn't expecting an event from mene... especially not an Olympics related one. I'm rather confused by that.

I would still love to do one as I was looking forward to it and running my first event thread. But either way is fine. Maybe just plan a summer one for next year. I'll still host a thread if I am around. Whatever is decided is decided.

I say just do it later; maybe the theme can be reworked into a celebration /congratulation party for the Games?

This is tricky. I just wish that Mene let us know before springing up with this >.<
The only thing that I can think of is changing the event altogether and moving it to November which I'm pretty sure that nothing is going to happen on that month. |

I'd have to change my thread and my banners a bit as well. Or we could just try again next summer when there isn't the Olympics.

I'm actually pondering straight up canceling. As close as I am to having my thread finished. I just had my computer crop dead. And i have to find the funds to get a new one. which basically equals = right now i'd be a shitty host... I was looking forward to it. and its a little upsetting that we would have to move it like that and rebrand it after everything we did put into it. including funds.
i'm gonna guess we got asked to move it? |

I got that much. I wasn't sure if it had actually been said by a staff to us or not directly.
I did manage to save my files though barely before the computer crashed. SOr rather, I managed to recover my files and didn't lose them in the crash.... And my game can be adjusted to other themes, its just a tour bus basically... ^^;; |

So we are at a loss then. We don't want to throw away what we have done, but we also don't want to interfere with the official event. Also, we don't want to rebrand everything either. What should we do? Plus it's kinda tradition to have an URE each year too....

I guess we could rebrand it. And attempt a summer one next year.

I know I am not on the official user-run event planning board, but I was really looking forward to the user-run event because it looked like you all worked so hard on it and it was going to be like the best one ever
So I was wondering if you all would be able to have it earlier than planned? Per the guidelines, we cannot have a URE that runs at the same time as a site event. It is strongly recommended that we don't have one that is two to three weeks before or after an event because users will be broke or hoarding their gold.
As Gizzie is the one that made the banners, having her re-make banners for a re-branding would almost be cruel. I received direct word from the Admin Assistants about their deepest apologies, the event was suppose to happen sooner in the summer, but things happened and it was pushed back. If everyone wanted to re-brand and move the event back to November it would be very difficult for me to be here to host and run the threads and stickies. Work picks up for me at the end of September and continues to be busy through the end of the year. Most people are for sure back in the school, papers due and what not before Holiday breaks, we wouldn't have a decent turn out. At least, that is my prediction. Poet, the site will do nothing to support us. It's clearly stated in their guidelines that they don't care for, condone or otherwise encourage a URE. I see. I've never really done anything URE related, but it makes sense since they are not running anything that it's up to us.

I'll start disbursing all items donated to us back to the people. All gold will be going back to the users as well, plus some extra those that participated in the Quest for Queen Splendor. I played tetris on the NPC and made a little extra gold. *sighs* Once January hits and provided I am still here, we can start working on and coming up with something for a July event since that seems like the better month to do something in.
