The word count goal you mean is for the current NaNo goal?

Bearzy 06-01-2016 10:29 AM

For July, yes.

xuvrette 06-01-2016 11:53 AM

I am not yet sure whether to join the July one...
but then, July have some holidays for me... maybe a good opportunity. >.< >D

Bearzy 06-01-2016 12:07 PM

That's why I'm doing it in July.

Shadami 06-01-2016 02:44 PM

i'm okay with a 50k word count goal right now for myself. Though i am kind of doubting I'll be making it cause we're going to be in the middle of a move in July. xD

oh right. and i;'m shadami of course

xuvrette 06-01-2016 04:08 PM

I think I would see how my work schedule came about at the end of this month.

Bearzyzy having holidays on July too?

Shadami 06-01-2016 07:43 PM

i'm actually really struggling with world building right now. I only have a very vague notion of what i want. for the world and the story. . . so i'm using that 30 day thing from one of the tools links. and i'm trying to do a map right now.

xuvrette 06-01-2016 10:06 PM

That 30 days of Worldbuilding is awesome!
For a super lazy person like me,i I need to be spoonfeed like that. lol.

Yep! Winter break. University goes back on the 11th, but the first couple of weeks of the semester aren't too intense.

Shadami 06-01-2016 10:56 PM

that's like our winter break in January. except where i went to college, we ended up getting a blizzard the day the semester was suppossed to start back up, and my friend had swung by my dorm to bring me food and say hi cause i'd gotten back, and he got stuck in the driveway and we had to sneak him in to spend the night since he's not allowed to stay in the dorms without permission. but there was no moving his car. It blocked traffic. xD

man.. the snow was bad that year. . .

course now he and I are married. hehehehe

Bearzy 06-02-2016 12:21 AM

Cute story!

OK SO the Camp website has been reset now! Woohoo! I'll make a cabin for us.

xuvrette 06-02-2016 11:23 AM

oh lol, Shadamimi, that is one sweet story. XD
Draw some inspiration from real life, add some fantasy twist, and there you go, another story. XD

Kat Dakuu 06-02-2016 02:22 PM

I think I've got my project decided now. I've started world building a little since it's a fantasy realm and will take a while.

Shadami 06-02-2016 05:55 PM

oh yeah. i'm not really good at the romance stories. though i need to work on putting it in somehow. cause everyone always likes to sigh over pairings that aren't getting together and such. but just.. UGH. I can not bring myself to write about anything sexual...

xuvrette 06-02-2016 07:46 PM

Shadamimi, why must sexual essential to romance stories?
I do see the relation. But coming from a conservative Asian perspective, I read plenty of romance with subtle ways of conveying the part. It allows me to focus on just the story and characters. There is erotic novel in Asian book market, however, they are not many and their sexy bits happen every other chapter. XD

Dakukuu~ aww, fantasy! I love that genre too much. T___T
Doing the 30 days world building too?

hanahaki disease 06-03-2016 05:20 AM

Yeah, sex totally isn't required for a good romance. My favourite romance, Lauren Oliver's Delirium, does not have a sex scene. And it's just right that way.

xuvrette 06-03-2016 01:09 PM

Sirenren, not even hinting the sex had taken place?
Mine kind of sugar coat it over. Imagine how the film or shows change the camera angle elsewhere. lol.

Kat Dakuu 06-03-2016 02:37 PM

I mean, as far as romance goes, the requirement for sex is not there, but expected depending on the story. If it's strictly romance and written for an adult audience, I'd expect something there even if it was sugar coated because that's a part of most adult relationships. But a story that just has a strong romance element, but I might classify as a fantasy adventure, I would kinda expect it not to.

I am not doing the 30 days of world building. I remember trying it once before though...
I came up with some plot before I went to bed last night. Can't remember it now.

xuvrette 06-03-2016 04:45 PM

lol. That doesn't sounds like a 30 day of world building with a good ending... XD
AH! That! I have that problem too! Getting inspiration of story and tunes from dreams ... waking up with a poof...
only the feeling of... "I FORGOT SOMETHING!!!"
T___T

hanahaki disease 06-03-2016 04:48 PM

Well, I mean, not everyone who is asexual is also aromantic. What I'm trying to say is, just as peeps have sex without romance, people have romance without sex. When sex becomes like a requirement or expectation of romance, in real life and stories, I consider it a problem. Like you're supposed to have sex if you're in love, or to prove you're in love.

Kat Dakuu 06-03-2016 05:22 PM

I ended up doing the world building anyway because I have nothing else to do.

Siren: well, we're talking about published romance stories which are not real life in almost any way. I write atypical, but the expectation when picking up a romance book is the same formula you find in pretty much every one of them. The hidden gems are harder to find.

Shadami 06-03-2016 11:22 PM

oh no. i mean... like I have a hard time even describing kissing. And i'm the worst flirt ever. and not in the i flirt with everyone way. in the i don't know how to flirt way. xD

SO i have a hard time describing anything. I mean i can do it sometimes. But I'm reaaaallly bad at it. and romance anywhere, the glances, the surprise that you're attracted to them. yada yada. all that stuff. i'm not to good at writing it yet. but it seems required that there be a love interest or two or three in stories. Even if nothing comes of it.

xuvrette 06-04-2016 05:06 AM

Depending on the genre, overall story vibe, imaginative target audience, the description style could be sugar coat over or the more straight on erotic. XD For me, I have the tendency to either have cheeeeeesy impossible romance or none at all. Hidden hints here and there, that is it.

Shadami 06-04-2016 12:28 PM

i don't know. I'm going to have to see what i come up with. xD

Kat Dakuu 06-04-2016 04:43 PM

Target audience is definitely the most important. If you're writing for middle aged housewifes who are dying for a little fantasy romance in their life, it's one thing. Another for young people who are progressive and looking for something different than that.

I've never flirted before.
