I never flirt too.
So, for things that I never do, I just have to imagine it and hope that it is authentic enough in story. lol. |
You read it enough and it gets pretty easy to imitate somewhere along the lines. I almost exclusively write romance and I'm not romantic.
|
For writing Fantasy and or non-existing stuff, it really depends on imagination.
It is not like you have to kill someone to write a murder mystery. That would be scary. |
but you have to study things like what happens if you stab someone in the chest compared to in the stomach. What vital organs are there? Is there even a chance that they would be missed and the person survive?
|
I am talking about emotions. Which you can't read off a book.
There are even times to have difficulty finding words to describe how you feel. |
i'm terrible at describing how i feel> I just describe the situation and hope someone understands how i feel. xD
|
And even if you find the words to describe, others may not understand the same. Chaotic!
|
Ooh...it's that time of year already...It seemed like Camp April was just yesterday. I didn't end up really attempting it though.
Hopefully Camp July will be more inspiring and motivating for me. I notice with my own writing I often incorporate romantic elements at least...but the funny thing is I've never really experienced romance in my real life. Unless mutual attraction or unrequited counts. |
In my opinion, regardless of the outcome, if the feeling is there or even misunderstood as love, I would consider those as romance portion too.
|
That is probably all I would manage to get into my stories I think. xD
|
How are your preparations?
|
Barely going. I've been on holiday this last week, and I have exams next week...
|
How do you guys plan a novel?
I've never done so before, and I'm thinking that if I did I may have a better chance at reaching my word count goals. |
Have Lingling ever achieve word count goal?
|
So what I do is I grab a notebook and I write down all the important things I already know I want to include. From there I brainstorm characters and an ending, then I work out where I want the story to start.
Then I brainstorm what I want to happen - suss out my set pieces, my big events. FINALLY, I write a chapter by chapter outline. It takes a while, but I find it to be worth it. |
I haven't ever achieved a monthly word count goal...
My best NaNo attempt was last November with just over 18,000 words. Thanks for that Bearzy...it's useful to see how other people approach novel writing. |
My best before last November was 23,000. I planned properly for the first time last November and won on the 22nd.
|
For me, I just... write write write. lol, mainly due to my long winded attitude, word count is never a problem.
Regardless of how many planning I do. Of course, there is always a starting point, the starting point could be the climax, could be just show off how Mary Sue my character is, could be just a message I want to show through in the story etc. My problem is with FINISHING the story. Cause my motivation always dies halfway before reaching the end. It is very wasteful, seeing that I had started more than 10 stories and only 2 stories get a 'force' ending. |
uhhhhh well... i go about writing a novel by stumbling across an anime picture i like. WIth a bit of adjusting here and there, and just looking at it, a story idea develops in my head. Who is this character? so i write a bio page. Coming up with the info to answer all those crazy questions i start to see more of a back story for them. Why is there favorite food spagetti, well its because it reminds them of the home they tragically loss to bandits. Their mother used to make it every wednesday when they got their pay.
where have they gone since they lost their home and family? how old were they? ect. Than I do a bit of world building. Is it modern day, fantasy? do they use electricity or candles ect. From there I just kind of start. cause i'm clueless as to writing out a story before hand. SOmetimes I have an idea where I want it to get to, but have no idea what is in the middle. So I do my introduction chapter. and i use chapter loosely. It's more like introduction scene. Where other characters may stumble in as well, and than I might give them a little character bio which opens up side plots that could leak into the story. Like the person that befriends the main character is actually the grandson of the bandits that killed their family. |
Hey Bearzy: Have you created a camp cabin at the Camp NaNo website?
My username is CaiLing, could I get an invite to it if you do. |
Done!
Shadami, I think you need to create your novel for the month before I can add you. |
Uh. is there a seperate website for camp nano?
|
Yeah there is. There's a link in the second post.
|
I am surprised, that there is a separate website for Camp Nano. O_O
|
There always has been. It's just because of the cabin system I think, oh! and because your "novel" doesn't actually have to be a novel for Camp. It can be a script or whatever. Maybe that's why? Other than that it's basically pointless.
