"It's not stupid to my grandparents or to there parents. We have been purebloods threw all of the generations until me." Belle shook her head. "I don't know what feels right.'
"Then maybe that's your quest. Talk to Holiday about it. I heard she's good at this kind of thing." Cal said, not knowing what else to tell her.
"Holiday doesn't know a thing! she doesn't give answers just philosophical nonsense and talk about quest. She's no help at all!" Belle groaned. "I have no one to turn to." her lower lip quivered.
"Have you ever actually spoken to her about anything?" Cal asked curiously. Personally, he had found Holiday's insight very helpful. "Oh...hey, come on, don't cry...I'm sure that's not true. You've got your friend Angel. And Rosemary seems eager enough to help you out." He practically begged. He could not handle a crying female.
Belle laughed. "That woman speaks in riddles and false promises." she shook her head. "Rose understands about being a half breed but thats about it and Angel just wants me to get with a pureblood vampire so she's no help."
"Just how much have you actually talked to any of these people?" Cal asked. Her opinion seemed really off. "You don't know how much Rosemary understands. Holiday has been really straightforward and helpful to me. And Angel seems to care about you enough to want your happiness more than anything. And...I'm here." He sort of mumbled the last part, blushing. "Even if I'm not good at understanding, I can listen..."
"I guess you are." Belle laughed. "I promise to talk to them but I don't expect much."
"I guess that's the best I can ask for." Cal said. It was better than nothing, anyway. He looked up at the sky where the sun was still making it's way towards noon. "I went vampire, didn't I?" He asked. It seemed to be the only pattern he could change to as of yet.
"Yep." Belle laughed. "it was quite a show."
Cal groaned. "I have got to learn to control these pattern shifts...oh well. I can handle being vampire. I'm just glad I didn't change to shapeshifter."
"Now that would have been a show." Belle started to laugh harder imagining it.
Alex sighed. "I wonder where Belle and Cal are." |
Cal blushed a little. "Yeah..." He shuffled his feet. "It's strange, I've changed my pattern so many times, but I've only ever changed it to vampire. I wonder if there's a strong vampire somewhere in my bloodline."
"Maybe. Though...never mind." Bell shook her head. "I'm sure the other patterns will come in at the least convenient moment." she chuckled. "Imagine transforming in the middle of class then reappearing as yourself only naked." she was smirked. "Speaking of we should get to class."
Cal made a face, blushing even brighter. The thought of being naked in class was embarrassing enough, but for some reason it was even worse coming from her. "Right. Class. Let's go."
Belle lead the way and slipped into a desk grinning at Alex scowl.
Cal sat at his desk, ignoring everyone and focusing on the teacher.
Belle pulled aside Rose after classes. "I'm still not sure what I want to do. Do you think I should I go to Holiday? Will she even be able to help?"
Rosemary blinked. "Well, I can't tell you want to do. But if it were me, I would go to Holiday. She's married, so she understands relationship stuff. And she's really helpful and she listens...so it couldn't hurt."
Belle nodded and headed off to Holidays office. They talked for a while and it was late by the time she got to the cabin. The look on her face was a strange mix of happy and pissed off.
Rosemary had waited up, sitting at the kitchen table with a couple of sodas out in case Belle wanted to talk. She looked up when her cabinmate walked in. "Um...how did it go?" She honestly couldn't tell, even by reading her emotions.
"Frustrating." Belle let out her breath in a huff. "She made sense but she said it was my quest and I punched the desk. James threw me out of the office to cool off and I got into a fight with him." she sighed. "It helped in one way and the other way it just made me annoyed."
Rosemary bit back a chuckle, but ended up snorting in the attempt. "Sorry, it's just...that sounds about right. Holiday helps, but it can be a little confusing. And Mr. James is a hard-ass, but he cares...it actually helps to argue with him sometimes." She said. "Do you want to talk about it? I've got soda."
Belle groaned. "Being a vampire isn't easy. They like to be pureblooded. My family has been pure for millions of years. Then my mom goes and has a half breed." she scowled. "Why did she have to fall in love with another supernatural? Why did she have to lie...well I know why she lied. To appease the elders, but I'm stuck now. If they don't know by know they will, I was hoping to at least fall for a pureblood in hopes that they would see past my half breed status."
"But why does being pureblooded have to matter so much?" Rosemary asked, genuinely curious. "Do you think any less of yourself for being half? Do you think...that being half makes someone...not as good?"
"I was raised to look down on half breeds." Belle admitted with shame. "I'm try to see things different. I like you." she smiled at her. "But...the others aren't going to open there mind...and really I don't know why not really anyway."
