Peggy cackled. "Oh that was epic, if that happens I totally want details later," she said with a grin.
"We'll see," Winter said. "Depending on the outcome of this... quest."
"Sounds fair." Peggy grinned. "So, you're off on a quest, not sure when you'll return. Should be interesting."
"Interesting will be one word for it," Winter said. "But I'm going to do it. So we'll see what happens."
"Yes we will." Peggy smiled. "Need help packing?"
"I think I'm all set," Winter said. "But thanks. I figure no human is ever truly prepared for the first time they go into the Makai, so I just sort of crammed some stuff into a bag."
"That... actually sounds like a fair plan, yeah," Peggy agreed. "Well, don't die, good luck, have fun."
"I'll try, thank you, and I'm sure I will," Winter said. She grinned and hugged her. "See you soonish I think."
"Hope so." Peggy returned the hug. "Seriously, be safe." She was a little reluctant to let go, but she did.
"I will," Winter replied. She was just as reluctant to let go, but she did. "I expect you to become a certified badass while I'm gone."
"Will do." Peggy grinned a bit. "I'll show off when you get back, shall I?"
"I'll hold you to it," Winter said. She hugged Peggy again, and then headed back outside. Time to get going.
Peggy watched her go before she huffed a sigh and went back to training.
Hiei waited until she was approaching him before he quirked an eyebrow at her. "Finished?" he asked calmly. |
"Yeah, I figure I'm as ready as I'm going to get," Winter said, nodding. "I just need to know where we're headed, because I know of very few places in the Makai."
Hiei nodded, and then hesitated a moment. "It would be easiest to show you," he said, making a little motion to his Jagan so she'd understand.
Winter blinked. She hadn't been sure that putting images into someone's mind was an actual thing.
"Okay," she said after a moment. "Sure. Not like you haven't been in my head before." |
"This is different," Hiei said with a little snort. But it didn't take him longer than a few moments to find the image he wanted and gently plant it in her mind so she could study it.
Winter inhaled softly when the image bloomed in her mind.
"That's incredible," she breathed. She took a few moments to really get a grasp on the location, and then nodded. "Okay, I think I've got it." |
Hiei nodded, letting her take her time and do whatever she needed to do. He wasn't in charge of this bit, exactly, anyway. So, best not to push, lest he end up somewhere else entirely.
Winter concentrated and then reached out, feeling the fine silk curtain sensation of space-time and pulling it aside. On the other side, Hiei's chosen destination shimmered.
"Go through now," Winter said. She was fighting to hold the spot open. "Quickly. I'll follow." |
Hiei didn't ask, he just stepped through. It took him barely a moment to adjust and look around, wary. So far at least nothing was amiss or out of place, but that didn't mean he relaxed. He just shifted to the side to wait for Winter.
Winter stepped through after him, and the portal slammed shut behind her with a clap.
"This where you wanted to be?" she asked, shaking her head a bit. She was dizzy for a moment, but it passed quickly. |
Hiei nodded. "This looks like the right area," he agreed, taking his time looking around. "Stay close."
"Will do," Winter said. She adjusted her bag on her shoulders and waited for him to pick a direction.
Hiei started walking, so far content to take his time. He wasn't sure yet if their entrance would attract any attention, and if it did, how dangerous that attention would be. So, for now, he was alright with being a bit cautious.
