"These two were making them disappear like it was going out of style," Tony said dryly. "More effectively than sending Cap at them."
|
Clint blinked, and then looked at the girls.
"You're kidding," he said, looking back at Tony. |
"Nope," Tony said with a brief grin. "Took out a group in under five minutes."
|
Clint glanced again at Phil. He knew nobody had really be able to keep the shadow blob monsters under control, not even Tony or Steve. Two unknown newcomers being able to take them out? Phil had to have an opinion.
Summer watched the silent conversation. "I feel like this isn't something normal people are meant to see," she murmured to Rose. |
Phil shook his head just slightly. Oh, he had an opinion alright, but he was keeping it to himself for now. He wanted more information, first.
"Right?" Rose murmured back. "Still awesome, though." |
Clint nodded once, slightly, and then looked back at Tony.
"So, what, do they talk? Or do they just stand there whispering?" He smirked a bit, tilting his head towards the girls. |
"We talk," Rose piped up. "We just weren't sure if you lot were done talking about us yet."
Tony snorted at that. |
"Not that we weren't perfectly okay just listening to it all," Summer added. "Anyways, I'm Summer."
|
"I'm Rose."
"How were you two defeating the blobs, then?" Coulson asked mildly, looking at them. They looked unassuming enough, but looks were often deceiving. |
Summer sighed slightly.
"Well," she said. "That's... a Story, really. It's complicated, and I'm not sure where to start, and it sounds more than a little crazy." |
"We deal with crazy often," Phil told them, smiling faintly. "Start somewhere and fill in the gaps as you go."
|
"Okay," Summer said, still a bit cautious. She glanced at them all. "Just... I know there will be questions. Save the questions till the end." She glanced at Rose, and then just picked a place to start. "So... Those blobby things. They're called heartless. They're kind of... corruption. And the result of corruption. We've sort of... been trained how to fight them."
|
"This is kind of what we do now," Rose added. "We go around to different places and try to get rid of them."
|
"Now we get to the really crazy part," Summer said. "Believe me, we know how this will sound, but just stay with us on this." She paused and then just went ahead with it. "We were drafted into all this by Mickey Mouse."
|
There were a few moments of complete silence after that.
"You're joking," Natasha said flatly from where she'd snuck in. |
That made Summer jump. She hadn't noticed Natasha come in.
"Jesus FUCK--" She bit off the last of the curse, and then shook her self a bit."Okay. Anyways. I swear, you can't make this shit up. We're supposed to travel to the places that are having trouble fighting back the heartless and help them out. This is the second world we've been to, so far." |
"Second world?" Tony asked, eyeing them both. He had noticed that term there, and that made him nervous.
"Fight them with what?" Coulson interjected before anyone else could get all huffy. His attention had sharpened to the two. |
Both of the questions came at her, and Summer went with the easier of the two.
"We were given... well, weapons, sort of," she said, answering Coulson. "They're called keyblades, and we're able to use them to fight the heartless." |
Coulson nodded. And there went the keyword pinging in his brain. They needed to go see the Director.
"I'd like to ask some further questions," he told them both. "But there's someone else who needs to hear this." |
"Someone else...?" Summer asked cautiously. She glanced at Rose. There was only one person she could imagine Coulson would want to call, because clearly something they had said had meant something to him.
|
Rose nodded just slightly, having come to the same conclusion. Oh shit, this was going to get interesting real fast.
"You'll see," Coulson said. "Come along." He motioned for them to follow him, catching Nat's eye with a faint nod. Natasha nodded back, falling into step after the two girls. |
"Oh dear," Summer murmured as she followed Coulson. She cautiously glanced at Natasha behind them. Somehow, it was a bit nerve-wracking to have her there, even though Summer knew they really didn't have anything to worry about.
|
Rose glanced at her and shrugged a bit, for now just following Coulson. Hopefully everything would be fine.
Coulson led them into an SUV, Natasha sliding smoothly into the driver's seat. "Try not to worry," he told the two. "If you can defeat those things as easily as Stark says, we want you on our side." |
"Oh, not a video conference," Summer said faintly when she saw the SUV. "Great." She got into the car, sliding over so Rose could get in after. Obviously, they were headed for an in-person talk with the Director.
|
"Not this time," Coulson agreed. "This is best in person." He smiled faintly, and once they were all in Natasha started driving.
"Well, this is new," Rose muttered very quietly to Summer. |
