"Huh, wonder what they're up to," Rose murmured. "At least nothing is flickering."
Of course, right as she said that, something started flickering. Not very much, not yet, but it started. |
Summer saw the flickering.
“And that’s our cue,” she said. She looked at Rose. “What say you we pop back home real quick to change and see if there’s a paper airplane waiting for us, and then we go investigate?” “What about us?” Bucky asked, raising an eyebrow. “I mean, you can either wait here or come with us, but we’re not going to be in our world long.” She glanced at Steve and grinned. “Wouldn’t dream of leaving you guys behind when we’re going to fight heartless.” |
Steve grinned at that. "I think I want to come with," he said, glancing at Bucky. He had to admit he was a bit curious to see where they lived.
Rose just shrugged, fine either way. |
Bucky nodded as well. He had to admit he was curious.
Summer blinked. “Sure,” she said. She grinned and gestured to the mirror in the corner. “This way, then.” |
Rose went first, pointing her keyblade at it to get them a way home. "See you on the other side," she said cheerfully, stepping through.
"I know it works, but it's still weird," Steve muttered to Bucky as he approached the swirling mirror. |
“No kidding,” Bucky replied. “May as well just man up and go.” He looked at the mirror and then stepped through.
|
Steve snorted but followed after him. He took a couple moments to look around once he was through, curious.
Rose had already headed back to her room to look for some other clothing, and was debating taking a shower while they were there. |
Summer took up the rear and the mirror portal closed behind her.
“So, make yourselves comfortable,” she said, albeit a little awkwardly. “Feel free to turn on the TV, and there’s also Netflix.” |
Steve shot her a rather amused grin but obligingly got out of the way. In the kitchen, which he started poking around at.
Rose looked at him for a moment before she snorted and shook her head. Not her problem right now. She went off to her room to get ready to go again. |
Summer disappeared into her own room as well, leaving the two guys to poke around.
"Not a bad place," Bucky commented as he looked around. |
"No," Steve agreed. "Bigger than our old place in Brooklyn." He shot a grin at Bucky.
|
Bucky snorted.
“Not that that’s hard to do,” he retorted. He went over to the window and glanced out. “I remember they said their world isn’t much different from ours. Wonder what all’s out there that’s the same as what we know.” |
"Probably plenty," Steve agreed, looking at a newspaper one of them had left on the table. "Looks like this version made a very poor life choice." He showed Bucky the headline, which had something to do with the current President.
|
Bucky looked at the headline and grimaced.
"Glad we don't live here," he said. "Can't blame the girls for wanting to get away." |
"No kidding." Steve shook his head, making a face and tossing the paper on the table again.
|
Bucky poked around the apartment some.
"So what're your thoughts on everything so far?" he finally asked, glancing at Steve. "This whole... everything." |
Steve was quiet for a few moments. "Well, there's a lot going on," he said. "And it's definitely dangerous for various people. And worlds, apparently." Which was still a bit odd to think about. He'd adjusted to a lot, but worlds, plural? That was a new one.
|
Bucky just shook his head.
"Hard to wrap my mind around the idea of other worlds," he said. "Aliens are one thing, but magic portals are somethin' else." |
"Magic portals in mirrors," Steve pointed out with a wry grin. "I knew there was more, after the aliens, but all this?" He shrugged a bit.
|
"It's weird," Bucky said. "And we've got no idea where we're goin' next." He paused when the small mirror on the wall in the hallway shimmered a bit, and he watched as it flashed and a paper airplane drifted out of it.
|
Steve turned and watched as well, and let the silence stretch for a few long moments after the paper airplane settled on the table.
"What the hell?" |
"Betcha it's for them?" Bucky tilted his head a bit towards the rooms where the girls had gone. "I remember one of 'em mentioning paper airplanes." Because at this point he'd hit his threshold of weird shit and was just going to roll with it.
|
"Would make sense," Steve agreed. "But where did this one come from?"
|
"Buddy, your guess is as good as mine," Bucky replied, shaking his head. "I've got no clue. It came out of a mirror, it could have come from literally anywhere."
|
Steve snorted at that and shook his head, giving up on everything for now. He ignored the paper airplane for the moment and went back to poking around.
