Tony shrugged. "Too many liabilities with testing it at a hospital or other such place," he told her. "Too many legalities and then other issues for an apartment building. Already had the stuff here, and Alana mentioned that not only would it fit in here but it would be a great place to test." His smile was wry but amused, because clearly he knew what Alana was doing there.
Athena rolled her eyes.
"I'll talk to my contractors," she said. "Right now, it's only wired into the installation. If we're going to test it as a genuine power source, I'll have to have it wired into the rest of the building once the installation is moved to a more permanent spot." |
"Um yeah I would be doing the installation, no offense to whoever you guys would hire, but they have no clue what to do with that." Tony shook his head. Honestly, contractors. He hadn't let a contractor touch any of his stuff and he wouldn't be starting now.
"Fine, you can handle the actual hardware, but my contractors still need to come in to oversee it because they're familiar with the obscenely specific standards required for the actual physical building," Athena said with a bit of a shrug. "Such as what the walls are made of and exactly how to build things into them."
Tony shrugged. He didn't much care about that part. "Fine," he agreed. "They can do that part, but they don't get to install my tech, I'm the only one who gets to do that. Or approved minions."
"Fine," Athena said, nodding. "We'll make it work somehow." With that, she finished her champagne and handed the empty glass to a passing server.
Tony watched as a few people drifted past, talking quietly and laughing. "Seems to be going well, far as these things go," he said, watching a few people titter over one of the old Captain America posters. "I wonder how red Steve's ears are getting by now."
Athena grinned a bit.
"I'm sure you can find him and find out," she said. "As long as he's still here, at least." |
"Oh he's still here," Tony said with a wicked grin. "Alana threatened us all with quite dire things if any of us left before the mandatory two hours were up."
Athena snickered.
"Yeah that sounds like my sister," she said, nodding a bit. "She's good at wrangling stubborn people." |
"No kidding," Tony muttered. "Pepper loves her, she'll never get fired. She even wrangled Clint into a monkey suit for the evening, it was great. I have video."
"From what I understand, that's impressive," Athena said, grinning a bit. "Considering I've heard horror stories about things like ratty sweats and shirts that are more hole than not."
"And so much purple," Tony said with a shudder. "The man has a love affair with that color. It's not healthy."
Athena grinned.
"Purple is my favorite color," she said, teasing him just a little. "I wear a lot of blue and green, but purple is my favorite." |
Tony waved a hand. "Purple as a color is fine," he said. "Purple as every article of clothing you own? No."
Athena grinned.
"The walls of my bedroom are purple," she offered. |
Tony shrugged. "Are we talking plum, lavender, fuscia, eggplant? There's a lot of options there, and some of them are just fine."
"Lilac," Athena said. "It reflects light better, although the trim is darker." She grinned a bit. "My room as a kid was very purple, though, somewhere between lavender and violet."
Tony nodded. "Those are acceptable colors," he agreed. "Lilac is a fine color. That whacko once painted his living room plum, because he could." He made a face at Clint. Clint made a face right back, even though he couldn't hear them.
Athena just rolled her eyes at their antics.
"Just remember that it could always be worse," she said. |
Tony blinked at her. "Yes, yes it could," he agreed. "But then I wouldn't get to tease Clint nearly as much."
Athena rolled her eyes.
"I'm not even surprised," she said. "I've heard you're like that." |
Tony snickered. "I'm sure you've heard all sorts of things about me," he said with a shrug. "Alana's been working with Pepper and I a long time."
"Oh trust me, I know," Athena replied, grinning. "I've heard all of it. I get a front-row seat to all of the drama."
Tony snorted. "I bet you do," he muttered. "She probably shares most everything with you, huh?"
