Olive took his hand and held on as they left and started walking around again. All in all, she'd call today a success.
Elsewhere, Cat was wandering around the village, enjoying being out of the castle. She knew Olive and Sirius were somewhere, but she wasn’t sure about anyone else. Not that it particularly mattered, but still.
Remus was enjoying having a bit of time to himself. And he'd decided to investigate the Shrieking Shack a bit on his own, meaning he was standing outside it with a little frown.
Cat noticed him there, and went over.
“Looks different from the outside?” she commented quietly. |
"It does," Remiss agreed. "And in the daylight." He glanced at her. "Much quieter, now."
“I bet it is,” Cat replied. “So, what brings you out to Hogsmede all by yourself?”
"I don't often get a chance to come out by myself," Remus told her. "Thought I'd take a look around without the other two."
“Makes sense,” Cat said, nodding. “I came out on my own because Olivia is on her date with Black.”
"I know. He was fussing all through breakfast." Remiss smiled. That just meant Sirius was actually serious about this, pun intended, and not just flirting.
“Olive was looking forward to it,” Cat agreed. She fidgeted a bit with one sleeve of her green sweater. “I didn’t feel like going with any of my housemates.”
Remus nodded. "People are occasionally a bit... Much." He glanced at her. "Not you, but people."
Cat could feel her face turning a bit pink at that.
“I know how that is,” she said, nodding. |
Remus nodded, content for a few minutes to just stand there and look at the shack. It looked so innocuous from the outside.
Cat stood there with him for a little while.
"I was planning to go to the candy shop, if you want to come with me," she offered. She paused, blinking. "Can you even eat chocolate? And can Black? Chocolate and canines don't mix well, I know that." |
Remus actually smiled. "No problem," he told her. "At least, I've never had a problem with chocolate. I don't believe Sirius has, either. He has quite a sweet tooth, when he's in the right mood."
"Good to know," Cat said. "I'll have to let Olive know he likes sweets, Hufflepuff common room is right near the kitchens."
Remus snorted quietly. "Oh he'll love that," he agreed. "I know he and James have snuck down to the kitchens a few times, but they don't go often."
Cat snickered.
"I'm not surprised," she said. "I've done it a few times myself, though more often Olive and I go." |
Remus nodded. "Makes sense," he agreed. "I've heard the house elves are very... accommodating." To put it mildly.
Cat shrugged.
"They like having things to do," she said. "And they make excellent cocoa if you ask." |
Remus snorted quietly. "I'll have to ask them sometime," he agreed with a little smile.
"For now, you want to go with me to Honeydukes?" Cat asked him.
"Why not." Remus smiled and motioned for her to go first, turning his back on the Shrieking Shack.
Cat grinned and headed for the candy shop. It was nice to have the company.
But she would not call it a date. It was not a date. |
Remus just enjoyed spending time with her, even making a couple of purchases in the candy shop himself. She was easy to spend time with, different from James and Sirius, which was not a bad thing.
